Perception Manipulation

From The Character Database
(Redirected from Sense Manipulation)

Perception Manipulation is the ability to manipulate one's perception, altering the sensory stimuli received by an opponent or amplifying one's own perception to greater levels. This ability is similar to Mind Manipulation and can overlap with it.

Possible Uses:

  • Vision Manipulation: Manipulating the target's vision to make them see exaggerations of reality or entirely unreal things. For example, making the target believe they are doing something they're not.
  • Hearing Manipulation: Manipulating what the target hears, such as voices, background noise, or music. This is distinct from Sound Manipulation as it alters the perception of existing sounds rather than creating new ones.
  • Touch Manipulation: Altering what the target feels through touch, affecting sensations like mechanical tension.
  • Olfactory Manipulation: Changing what the target smells.
  • Taste Manipulation: Modifying what the target tastes, either from ingested material or without any ingested material.
  • Proprioception Manipulation: Influencing the target's understanding of their body and its position in space.
  • Balance Manipulation: Altering the target's perception of gravity and acceleration, affecting their balance.
  • Perception Amplification: Enhancing one's own perception, allowing for better vision, hearing, smell, etc., than normal humans.

Limitations:

The main limitation is that the user may not be able to generate stimuli, only alter the target's perception of existing stimuli. This makes it a purely immaterial ability with limited impact on the target's actual body.
