== History ==
First appearing in March 1971, the Hamburglar began as a pint-sized villain dressed in a black-and-white striped outfit, red cape, wide-brimmed hat, and black gloves, with a focus on stealing hamburgers and cheeseburgers. Initially depicted as an old man with a long nose and gray hair, he was called the "Lone Jogger" in some commercials, wearing a shirt labeled "Lone Jogger." His gibberish speech was often translated by Captain Crook.

In 1985, the character was redesigned as a younger, red-haired, [[Dennis the Menace]]-like child with a shorter-brimmed hat, a black cape with yellow lining, red and white shoes, and four-fingered red gloves. His muttering evolved into the catchphrase "robble robble." In "The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald," he was given a more sporty appearance, featuring green goggles, a leather jacket, striped shirt, shorts, and sneakers, while still playing tricks on his friends and loving burgers. His last TV appearances were in prime-time commercials promoting the dollar menu.

In 2015, McDonald's reintroduced the Hamburglar as a grown man wearing a fedora, macintosh jacket, black-and-white t-shirt, black jeans, and high-top sneakers, with a mask and a hint of designer stubble. This marked his first appearance in commercials since 2002.

In 2023, the Hamburglar returned to promote changes to McDonald's hamburgers.
