==Appearance==
Steve and Alex are the two default skins in ''Minecraft'', each representing a customizable human figure. Steve has dark brown hair, dark skin, a nose and mouth, and blue eyes. He wears a light blue shirt that is untucked on the left side, blue jeans, gray shoes, and has 4-pixel wide arms, giving him a "classic" build.

Alex, on the other hand, features long, bright orange hair that hangs to the left side, pale white skin, and dark green eyes. She wears a light green shirt untucked on both sides with a dark green belt, brown pants, grayish boots, pinkish lips, and has slimmer 3-pixel wide arms, resulting in a "slim" skin.

Both Steve and Alex are designed to be gender-neutral representations of human beings, though the skins can be changed by players. In ''Minecraft''’s Legacy Console Edition, players can also choose from seven other default skins beyond Steve and Alex, with additional skins available for purchase through various digital marketplaces.

In terms of size, the player character is 1.8 blocks tall in the game, with variations such as 1.5 blocks tall when sneaking, and 0.6 blocks tall when gliding or sprint-swimming. In ''Minecraft Legends'', the characters adopt a more "chibi" appearance, with larger heads compared to their bodies, and are often seen mounted on their signature animals, like horses. The default hero, Ranger, in promotional materials is recognizable by their red hair and blue hood.
