== Biography == === Background === Before Planet Vegeta's destruction, Paragus held a prestigious position as a high-ranking Saiyan warrior loyal to King Vegeta. His elevated status is evident from his ability to address the King directly when summoned. However, this loyalty was shattered when King Vegeta discovered the immense potential of Paragus' son, Broly, and deemed him a threat. The King ordered Broly's execution, ignoring Paragus' desperate pleas to reconsider, including his argument that Broly could grow into a powerful ally for Prince Vegeta. Dismissing these appeals, King Vegeta struck Paragus with his Execution Beam and discarded both him and his son. Ironically, on the same day, Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta for the very reason King Vegeta sought to eliminate Broly: fear of an uncontrollable Saiyan. However, Broly's latent power saved both himself and Paragus, as he created a protective sphere and transported them to another planet. Notably, Paragus appears to have been familiar with Bardock, as he immediately recognized Goku as Bardock's son. According to the Supplemental Daizenshuu, it is implied that Paragus may have even outranked Bardock within the Saiyan hierarchy. In the years that followed, Paragus raised Broly, who grew increasingly violent and destructive, annihilating everything in his path. This uncontrollable behavior reached its peak during Broly's teenage years when, in a fit of rage, he gouged out Paragus' left eye with a single elbow strike. Determined to harness his son's overwhelming power, Paragus enlisted the help of a scientist to create a mind-control device capable of suppressing Broly's rage. When Paragus attempted to place the control crown on a sleeping Broly, he faced resistance as his son woke mid-attempt. Ultimately, the device succeeded, granting Paragus control over Broly's immense strength and enabling him to begin plotting his conquest of the universe. === Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan === Paragus devises an elaborate plan to exact revenge on the Vegeta family. He lures Prince Vegeta to a desolate world, naming it New Planet Vegeta, positioning it in the path of the massive Comet Camori, which is destined to destroy the planet and everyone on it. Paragus selects this barren world for his scheme because he intends to use Earth as his base of operations and cannot afford any risk of damaging it. To further deceive Vegeta, Paragus has Broly enslave the Shamoian people after devastating their home planet, forcing them to construct a palace on New Planet Vegeta to make it appear more convincing. It's implied that Broly used his Super Saiyan form during this invasion, amplifying the illusion of Paragus' control over him. During this time, Paragus murders one of his soldiers, Moah, when the latter expresses fear after discovering Paragus' true plan to sacrifice everyone on the planet to Comet Camori. Trouble arises when Broly encounters Goku, triggering suppressed trauma from their shared infancy. Broly begins to slip out of Paragus' control, which deteriorates further with each subsequent interaction. Paragus' fears are realized when his plan is exposed to Vegeta, and Broly breaks free of his mind-control crown, transforming into a berserk Legendary Super Saiyan. Realizing his ambition to rule the universe through Broly is now futile, Paragus watches in horror as his uncontrollable son defeats the Z Fighters. In a desperate attempt to save himself, he tries to escape the doomed planet in a space pod, lamenting the need to abandon Broly to his fate. However, his escape is thwarted when Broly destroys the pod, killing Paragus by crushing it and hurling it into the oncoming comet. In his final moments, Paragus bitterly reflects on the cruel irony of his death: being killed by the very son who once saved his life. === Broly - Second Coming === While Paragus does not physically appear in this film, a flashback during the end credits depicts Broly saving him from the destruction of Planet Vegeta. Additional scenes from the battle on New Planet Vegeta between Broly and Goku are also shown. === Fusion Reborn === Paragus briefly escapes from Hell when the barrier between dimensions collapses due to Janemba's actions. Ironically, he is commanded by Frieza to attack Gohan, but after witnessing Gohan dispatch Frieza with a single punch, Paragus and the other escapees flee in terror. After Janemba's defeat by Gogeta, Paragus is sent back to Hell.
