In fiction (and real life), hacking is the process of breaking into computers, robots, advanced artificial intelligences, and/or software to take control of the system. This can be achieved through wireless connections, wired lines, or the addition of equipment (e.g., corrupted USB add-ons, nanomachines). Some fictional works even extend the definition to include hacking reality or the human mind. In the latter case, it would be a form of mind attack, while the former is a form of reality warping. Hacking can also be described as a robot mind attack, as robots are immune to conventional mind attacks, making hacking the next best method to compromise them.
