Ontology is the study of existence and being across various levels. Ontologically Transcendental Physiology refers to characters whose existence qualitatively transcends the standard four-dimensional (4D) spacetime continuum. This concept differs from Higher-Dimensional Existence, which explicitly involves characters transcending into higher spatial or temporal dimensions and existing as higher-dimensional beings.

Ontologically Transcendental Physiology describes characters who surpass the framework of a standard 4D continuum (or R⁴ dimensions) without being classified as higher-dimensional entities.

An example includes characters that exist in higher planes of existence or immaterial realms inaccessible to entities confined to 4D spacetime. These realms or states of being are beyond the reach of standard R⁴ dimensions yet are not explicitly described as higher-dimensional spaces. Such characters operate on a metaphysical level, often embodying transcendence over conventional physical and spatial constraints.
