Personality[edit | edit source]

The Noid is mischievous, persistent, and chaotic. He embodies all the obstacles and annoyances Domino’s delivery drivers might face, making him determined to disrupt their pizza deliveries. Despite his best efforts to cause trouble, he’s always thwarted in the end, adding a bit of slapstick humor to his character. His personality is also marked by a playful antagonism, as he uses every trick he can think of to delay or ruin pizza orders, all while being unintentionally humorous and somewhat clumsy.

Biography[edit | edit source]

The Noid was created in 1986 by Group 243 and brought to life by Will Vinton Studios through claymation, his tagline was "Avoid the Noid."

The Noid's influence extended into games, with the 1989 computer game Avoid the Noid, where players dodge Noid obstacles to deliver a pizza on time, and Yo! Noid, a 1990 NES platformer by Capcom, which reimagined him as a pizza-loving hero. Although CBS planned a cartoon based on him in 1988, it was canceled due to concerns it was an advertisement disguised as a show.

Domino's brought back the Noid in various limited promotions and appearances throughout the years. In December 2009, they released 1,000 Noid T-shirts. The Noid made another brief return in May 2011 as a promotional figure on Domino's Facebook page, appearing as a stuffed toy in an ad for a one-topping pizza deal. The character’s 25th anniversary was celebrated with The Noid's Super Pizza Shootout, a nod to the original Avoid the Noid game.

In 2016, Spooky Pinball LLC released Domino's Spectacular Pinball Adventure, featuring the Noid. The Noid also appeared in the company's "Pizza Payback" campaign that year. In August 2017, fans created a sequel to Yo! Noid called Yo! Noid 2: Enter the Void for New Jam City’s game jam.

The Noid returned to television in April 2021 through a series of short ads on social media, and Domino’s confirmed his official return later that month. He was also added to Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! as part of a promotional tie-in.
