Toni is the emotionally volatile next-door neighbor of Mark and Jeremy, who both find her attractive at different times during her tenancy. At the start of Series 1, she is separated from her husband, Tony, though they reconcile in Series 2 despite continuing to argue frequently.
Toni's father passed away when she was three years old. She grew up skiing regularly and has two sisters: Sal, who has cancer, and a half-sister, Paula, whom Jeremy briefly dated. Toni is outspoken, sexually liberated, and has casual sexual encounters with Jeremy on several occasions. Early in the series, she is involved in a pyramid scheme selling cleaning products. By the end of Series 2, she is working as a supervisor at a call center, where she pressures Jeremy into having an affair with her while he is married to Nancy.
Toni also has a chaotic streak, admitting to once setting fire to Hampton Court Maze ("Warring Factions").
