Biography[edit | edit source]

Blood and Sand[edit | edit source]

When Sura's caravan arrives at the ludus, Aulus is bloodied and claims the group was attacked en route from Neapolis. He appears to bear a wound as he delivers the tragic news of the supposed attack.

Later, Aulus speaks privately with Batiatus regarding the change of plans to kill Sura before her return to the ludus. Despite the grim task, Aulus is content with the coin he receives for his cooperation.

When Batiatus takes Magistrate Calavius captive in the sewers as part of his revenge, Aulus is tasked with guarding the prisoner. While on duty, he falls asleep and is abruptly awoken by Ashur. Checking on the unconscious Calavius, Aulus leans in only to be attacked—the magistrate bites a chunk out of his neck. Furious, Aulus beats the Roman in retaliation until Ashur intervenes, advising Aulus to seek medical aid while he takes over the watch.

Aulus visits the Medicus, who inquires about the injury. Aulus dismissively describes the culprit as "a rabid dog soon to be put down." After consuming a drink to help him rest, Aulus retires to recover.

Spartacus, suspecting foul play regarding Sura's death, awakens beside the resting Aulus. Examining his neck, Spartacus finds no wound and interrogates him about the supposed attack on Sura's caravan. Under pressure, Aulus confesses that Batiatus ordered Sura's murder. Enraged, Spartacus strangles Aulus to death for his role in the betrayal.

Mira enters and witnesses the aftermath. Spartacus instructs her to bind him to stage the scene as though Aulus succumbed to his injuries. The next day, Ashur informs Batiatus of Aulus' death, subtly reminding him that Aulus knew too much. While Batiatus harbors minor suspicions, he accepts Aulus' demise as tying up loose ends.
