Appearance[edit | edit source]

Cocoa has dark eyes and chestnut-colored hair, styled in a small ponytail with bangs. She typically wears a brown dress paired with a short, dark-light green jacket. For her role in the Saiyaman movie, she dons a pink dress adorned with small details, long white gloves, and a red bow, emphasizing her charming and delicate look.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Cocoa is sweet-natured and often acts in an endearing manner, especially around Gohan. While filming the Saiyaman movie, she developed a crush on him. Despite being coerced into participating in Barry Kahn's scheme to sabotage Gohan's marriage—and unknowingly risking her own career—Cocoa ultimately couldn't bring herself to follow through, recognizing Gohan's good-hearted nature.

During the plot, Barry Kahn captured an image of Cocoa kissing Gohan on the lips, which was an innocent gesture on her part, as she was unaware of Barry's presence. However, Barry's plan to ruin Gohan's reputation failed because Videl, Gohan's wife, trusted him implicitly and dismissed the accusation. When Barry further threatened to expose Gohan’s secret identity, Cocoa cleverly blackmailed him by threatening to reveal his transformation into the monster that the Super Great Saiyaman defeated.

Though she harbored feelings for Gohan, Cocoa respected his loyalty to Videl and never attempted to pursue a romantic relationship with him.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Dragon Ball Super[edit | edit source]

"Future" Trunks Saga[edit | edit source]

Cocoa Amaguri was cast as the damsel in distress for the film Great Saiyaman vs. Mr. Satan. During production, she overheard a conversation between Gohan, who had been recruited by Mr. Satan as the Great Saiyaman's stunt double, and Bulma. She discovered Gohan’s secret identity as the real Great Saiyaman. In exchange for her silence, she requested a flight around the city and a practice session for a scene.

Unbeknownst to Cocoa, her co-star Barry Kahn, who played Great Saiyaman in the movie, manipulated her into this arrangement to sabotage Gohan’s marriage to Videl and ruin Cocoa’s career. However, Cocoa couldn’t bring herself to follow through with Barry’s malicious plan. Instead, she moved the rehearsal to the rooftop rather than her room to minimize suspicion and protect Gohan.

During the rehearsal, Cocoa expressed self-doubt over her perceived lack of talent compared to Gohan’s abilities. Gohan reassured her, sharing that despite his powers, he still strives to make his wife and daughter happy. His kind and encouraging words deeply touched Cocoa, inspiring her to work harder toward her goals. After they concluded the scene, Cocoa kissed Gohan, thanking him silently for his support. However, Barry had secretly followed them and captured a photo of the kiss to frame Gohan as unfaithful. Despite this, Videl saw through Barry’s ruse, knowing Gohan's unwavering character.

Later, Cocoa witnessed Barry's transformation into a monster after being possessed by the alien fugitive Watagash, which revealed his corrupt heart. Using this, she blackmailed Barry into keeping Gohan’s identity as the real Great Saiyaman a secret. By threatening to expose Barry’s monstrous form, Cocoa successfully preserved Gohan’s secret identity and her own career.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Cocoa Amaguri's name combines "Cocoa," meaning cocoa powder, and "Amaguri," the Japanese word for "sweet chestnut."
  • Like Angela and Videl, Cocoa had an interest in Gohan and blackmailed him, though her intentions were well-meaning. However, her similarities with Angela are stronger, as her feelings for Gohan were unreciprocated, and both characters appear only in the anime.
  • Cocoa's blackmail shares more similarities with Videl's, as both involved the risk of exposing Gohan’s identity as Great Saiyaman. However, Videl eventually became Gohan’s partner as Great Saiyawoman, while Cocoa actively worked to protect his secret after their agreement.
  • Cocoa is the only minor character shown kissing a main character (Gohan) on-screen in the series. However, Future Trunks kissed Future Mai when feeding her a Senzu Bean, though Mai was part of the main cast.
  • Cocoa is the second pop idol introduced in Dragon Ball media, following An Azuki from the Dragon Ball prequel manga Jaco the Galactic Patrolman. An Azuki was active during the time Tights was 17 and Bulma was still a child, predating Cocoa's idol career by decades.
