Appearance[edit | edit source]

Nicky is tall with blue skin, sharp fangs, and striking white hair.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Nicky is the most talkative and flamboyant member of Garlic Jr.'s original trio of henchmen. He exhibits a smug and sadistic personality, delighting in combat and showing little regard for his enemies. Nicky often taunts his opponents, relishing their struggles and suffering. Despite his arrogance, he is fiercely loyal to Garlic Jr. and dutifully carries out his orders. His confidence, however, leads to his downfall when he underestimates Goku's power during their confrontation.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone[edit | edit source]

Nicky, alongside Ginger and Sansho, ambushes Piccolo during his training and seemingly defeats him. Following Garlic Jr.'s orders, the trio invades Goku's house to seize the Dragon Ball from Gohan and abduct the boy. Nicky is later tasked with guarding Gohan, but his assignment proves challenging. After Gohan eats a hallucinogenic fruit from the courtyard, he becomes delusional, forcing Nicky to chase him around the castle in frustration.

When Goku and Kami arrive to confront Garlic Jr., Nicky teams up with Ginger to battle Goku after transforming into his Super state. Despite wielding a sword pulled from his leg in the fight, Nicky is overpowered by Goku, who uses his Power Pole to knock him into a tower. Severely injured, Nicky manages to look up in shock moments before a powerful Kamehameha vaporizes him alongside Ginger.

Fusion Reborn[edit | edit source]

Nicky makes a cameo appearance in Fusion Reborn among various resurrected Dragon Ball villains, albeit with altered coloring.

Attacks ands Techniques[edit | edit source]

Flight – The ability to fly by manipulating ki.

Lozenges Blast – A fully-powered green energy wave fired from the palm. This technique is named in Dragon Ball Heroes.

Katana Kogeki – Nicky uses a longsword, pulled from within his leg, to attack his opponent. This move is referred to as Internal Weapon (Giant Sword) in Daizenshuu 7.

Unnamed Spinning Technique – Nicky, alongside Ginger and Sansho, spins rapidly around their opponent to form a vortex, attacking from multiple angles while in flight. The technique concludes with the trio catching the opponent and slamming them into the ground.

Gigantification: By calling out his signature phrase, Nicky can transform into a larger and more muscular state, commonly referred to as his "Super" form. He utilizes this enhanced form during his battle with Goku to increase his power and durability.

Though this transformation closely resembles the one used by Garlic Jr., Spice, and Vinegar, there is some inconsistency in its classification. Daizenshuu 7 does not explicitly list Nicky among the users of this transformation, whereas Daizenshuu 6 identifies it as the same as Garlic Jr.'s form, suggesting a possible oversight or variation in interpretation between the guides.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Like the rest of Garlic Jr.'s henchmen, Nicky's name is derived from a spice. Specifically, "Nikki" (ニッキ) is the Japanese word for cinnamon. The name also resembles "Nicky," which could reference "Little Nicky," a nickname associated with the Antichrist, aligning with Nicky's demonic nature as a Serpent demon.
  • The name "Nicky" was reused during the Imperfect Cell Saga, for the town "Nicky Town," where Cell regains his energy by absorbing its inhabitants.
  • Nicky's battle phrases vary across adaptations: in the original Japanese version, he says "Nodoame" (a Japanese cough drop); in the Ocean and Funimation dubs, he exclaims "Tutti-frutti!"; in the AB Groupe dub, he says "You can't win."; and in the Speedy dub, his phrase is "Nodowome."
  • Shigeru Chiba, Nicky's Japanese voice actor, later voiced Garlic Jr. during the Garlic Jr. Saga in the anime. This occurred because Garlic Jr.'s original voice actor, Akira Kamiya, had scheduling conflicts at the time.
