Dr. Hedo (ドクター・ヘド Dokutā Hedo) is the genius grandson of Dr. Gero and Vomi. A super-intelligent scientist with strong biology knowledge and a medical license, he is responsible for the creation of Gammas 1 and 2, as well as Cell Max. Though he plays a tertiary antagonistic role in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero as an employee of the Red Ribbon Army through its front company Red Pharmaceuticals, he later becomes a member of Capsule Corporation by the end of the events of the film.

Name: Dr. Hedo, Doctor Hedo

Origin: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero

Age: 24

Gender: Male

Species: Human

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Dr. Hedo is a short pudgy man with an almost-childlike complexion and black, slicked-back hair. He has altered his skin with a serum that allows him to resist shocks from objects such as bullets. He typically wears a purple, black and white superhero-style costume, complete with hood.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Despite his questionable actions, such as using deceased bodies for his own financial means, that led to him being imprisoned as well as deciding to join forces with the Red Ribbon Army, albeit under false pretences, Dr. Hedo is not an evil man. Instead, he has an obsession with superheroes and desires nothing more than to create the ultimate android superheroes. He does not truly believe Magenta's claims about the Red Ribbon Army being a force for good, but only goes along with their plans to secure funding for his research. Following the defeat of his own out of control creation, Cell Max, and the loss of Gamma 2, Dr. Hedo showed great remorse for his actions and offered to turn himself into the police.

In a similar vein to the Android modeled after his late grandmother, Dr. Hedo enjoys sweets, his particular favorite seeming to be an Oreo-type confection.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

Dr. Hedo is the grandson of Dr. Gero, the former top Android researcher of the Red Ribbon Army. Gifted with an intellect higher than even that of his Grandfather, Dr. Hedo achieved both an MD and PHD from an early age. Unfortunately, his questionable ethics and personality prevented him from maintaining employment under any laboratories, culminating in his imprisonment after reanimating several corpses and employing them at a convenience store as part of an experiment.

Dr. Hedo is a big fan of old fashioned superheroes, his personal hero suit as well as Gamma 1 are both known to be based off superheroes he was a fan off, with Gamma 2 thus being a derivative off the design.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero[edit | edit source]

After being released from prison, Dr. Hedo dressed in a superhero style suit, meets Magenta and Carmine, who pull up in a car and invite him in. He reveals he already knows who they are, having used his spy robot to trail them ever since Carmine first came around the prison. Magenta proposes that Hedo come work for them though he is reluctant, knowing that Red Pharmaceuticals is secretly the Red Ribbon Army, his grandfather’s connection to the organization causing trouble for himself and his parents. As a superhero fan he also takes issue with their plans for world domination. Carmine attempts to threaten Hedo with a gun but Hedo reveals that he's injected himself with serum that toughened his skin to withstand a certain degree of shock. In addition, Hachimaru, which lives in a compartment on his glove, carries a lethal poison. Magenta appeals to his sense of heroism and informs him that they believe Capsule Corporation is serving as the headquarters for a collection of aliens set on world domination themselves, and that the androids and Cell were part of a plan to stop them. He shows Hedo footage of Future Trunks killing Frieza and Hedo agrees to assist them and to contribute his research in creating the ultimate android superheroes.

Six months later, Piccolo, dressed as a Red Ribbon soldier sneaks inside the HQ where Magenta, Carmine, Dr. Hedo and the two Gammas are holding a meeting. Magenta orders Dr. Hedo to finish his work on "Cell Max", but Hedo insists the two Gammas can finish the job on their own. He is also hesitant to activate it as his control system isn't finished, meaning he could easily turn against them. Not long afterwards, eager to hasten their plans, Magenta and Carmine devise a plan to lure in Gohan as they are unable to locate Goku and Vegeta. Knowing he has a daughter, they decide to kidnap her to lure him to the base, though Hedo is against the idea.

Pan is eventually brought to the HQ and as expected Gohan comes for her. After the Gamma's become overpowered by both Gohan and Piccolo, Magenta rushes off in order to release Cell Max and Hedo chases after him. When Dr. Hedo tries to stop him, Magenta shoots him and begins to undo more of Cell Max's restraints. Dr. Hedo gets up, reminding him about his toughened skin and Magenta reveals that he's gone through some upgrades as well removing his suit to show the cybernetically enhanced body underneath. He prepares to fight but is stung on the back of the neck by Hachimaru, whose poison begins killing him. Magenta uses his final moments to undo the final locks on Cell Max who begins to break free from his chamber.

Cell Max rampages and almost kills the doctor but thanks to the Dragon Team and the weakness that Hedo placed in his head, Cell Max is destroyed though so to is Gamma 2 who sacrificed himself during the battle. Dr. Hedo is repentant of his actions, knowing he was being used and chose not to care and offers to hand himself over to the police. However, Bulma offers the repentant Dr. Hedo and Gamma 1 places at Capsule Corporation as Dr. Hedo's skin serum may prove useful in cosmetic research.
