Construction

From The Character Database

Construction is the ability to build large structures or objects, often in a short amount of time. Characters with this power may be able to construct entire fortresses rapidly or create defensive walls or turrets to protect themselves. This ability is commonly seen in sandbox games like Minecraft.

  • Speed and Intelligence: Characters with high intelligence and speed may build various constructs quickly. However, construction as a standalone ability must be distinguished from the combination of speed and intelligence. The power should only be listed if the character can construct objects rapidly, even in the middle of a battle. If considerable time is needed, then Preparation should be listed instead.
  • Supernatural Construction: This ability is reserved for characters who can build objects faster than their speed alone would suggest. It is important that the construction is a distinct ability, not simply a result of high speed.
  • No Substitution for Other Powers: Characters using other abilities, such as Earth Manipulation to create rock pillars or Ice Manipulation to create ice walls, do not qualify for the Construction ability. This power should be listed only for characters who can construct objects without relying on other powers.

Possible Uses

  • Defense: The most common use of construction is to build large bases or buildings for protection.
  • Preparation: Characters with construction abilities often have some form of preparation capability. Given enough time, they can build larger and stronger structures than they would otherwise.
  • Technological Constructs: Construction can also be used to build technological devices like vehicles, turrets, or towers. These can be used for setting traps or building defenses.

Types

  • Basic Construction: This allows characters to build simple structures, such as walls or buildings.
  • Technological Construction: This type of construction is used to create more advanced structures, including turrets, weapon towers, vehicles, and possibly robots.

Limitations

  • Material Requirement: Characters typically need sufficient materials to build structures, and these structures can be destroyed quickly depending on the material used. Characters who are not limited by material availability usually have some form of Creation or Matter Manipulation.
