Appearance
Dani Ramos is a young Mexican woman with dark brown eyes and shoulder-length dark brown hair. She has a lean, athletic build, reflective of her resilience and adaptability. In Terminator: Dark Fate, her wardrobe evolves from a factory worker’s uniform to more tactical clothing suited for battle, symbolizing her transformation from an ordinary civilian to a Resistance leader.
Personality
Dani is compassionate, brave, and fiercely protective of those she cares about. Initially, she is an ordinary factory worker with no knowledge of her future significance, but as the story progresses, she displays remarkable resilience and leadership. She refuses to abandon her allies, even when faced with overwhelming danger, and quickly adapts to the brutal reality of fighting against Terminators. Unlike Sarah Connor, who was initially motivated by her son’s destiny, Dani embraces her own role as the leader of the Resistance. Her defiant spirit, strategic thinking, and ability to inspire others set her apart as the future savior of humanity.
Original Timeline
Dani worked at Arius Motors, a Mexico-based American assembly plant, alongside her brother Diego. She lived a modest life with her father, Vicente, and their pet dog, Taco, believing she had no greater purpose. She and Diego planned to move to the United States in search of better opportunities and medical care for their father.
Post-Judgment Day
Following Judgment Day, Dani took it upon herself to gather survivors and form the Resistance to fight against Legion, an artificial intelligence originally designed for cyber warfare that ultimately launched a nuclear holocaust against humanity.
At some point, Dani encountered a young Grace Harper, who was being attacked by rogue survivors. Dani convinced them that preying on fellow humans only served Legion’s goals, hastening humanity’s extinction. Realizing their mistake, the attackers joined the Resistance, and from that moment on, Grace remained by Dani’s side, with Dani raising her like a daughter.
During a battle, Dani was wounded and had to be escorted back to base by Grace and a squad led by William Hadrell aboard Dragonfly 3. Upon landing, the transport was destroyed, and the Resistance forces engaged multiple Rev-7 units. Hardrell ordered Grace to get Dani to safety, but in doing so, Grace was seriously injured. Despite her wounds, she succeeded in her mission. Once back at the Resistance base, Grace volunteered to undergo cybernetic augmentation to better serve the fight against Legion.
By 2042, Grace and her unit captured a Time Displacement Chamber, eliminating all enemy units inside. However, they soon discovered that a Rev-9 had already been sent back to 2020 to assassinate the younger Dani. Desperate to protect her leader, Grace begged to be the one sent back in time. Although reluctant, Dani ultimately granted her request, knowing the fate of the Resistance depended on it.
Dark Fate Timeline
In 2020, Dani and her brother Diego were working at Arius Motors when they were suddenly attacked by a Rev-9. The machine had murdered their father, Vicente, and assumed his appearance to get close to them. Just as the situation turned dire, they were rescued by Grace, a cybernetically enhanced soldier who revealed that Dani was the Rev-9's target. As they fled, the Rev-9 killed Diego, but before it could reach Dani, Sarah Connor arrived and intervened. A hardened warrior with years of experience battling Terminators, Sarah temporarily disabled the machine and helped Dani and Grace escape.
As Dani and Sarah traveled together, Sarah explained that in the near future, an artificial intelligence called Legion—originally designed for cyber warfare—would go rogue and launch a war against humanity. Sarah initially believed that Dani was targeted because she would one day give birth to Legion’s greatest enemy, much like Sarah herself had given birth to John Connor. However, it was later revealed that Dani wasn’t destined to be a mother to the Resistance’s leader—she was the leader herself.
Seeking answers, Dani, Grace, and Sarah sought out Dani’s uncle, Felipe Gandal, a coyote who could help them cross the Mexico-U.S. border. With the help of another coyote, Flacco, they successfully crossed, but were soon arrested by U.S. Border Patrol, who had been tipped off by the Rev-9. While in custody at the State of Texas Detention and Processing Center, Dani tried to warn an agent that a killer machine from the future was hunting her, but she was ignored. Before long, the Rev-9 infiltrated the facility, disguising itself as an agent. Grace, having escaped from the infirmary, broke Dani out just as the Terminator attacked.
During their escape, Dani spotted Sarah running toward them, with the Rev-9 in pursuit. Refusing to leave Sarah behind, Dani leapt off the helicopter to provide covering fire, narrowly avoiding death before Sarah managed to board. Although Grace and Sarah scolded her for taking such a reckless risk, Dani’s resolve only grew stronger.
Following a mysterious set of coordinates sent to Sarah, the trio traveled to meet the sender—Carl, a Series 800 Model 101 Terminator. Carl had gained self-awareness after assassinating John Connor and, without further directives from Skynet, had integrated into human society. While Sarah wrestled with the pain of losing her son, Dani comforted her when she admitted she was starting to forget John's face, having never taken a picture of him in order to keep him hidden.
Realizing they had to make a stand, Sarah proposed luring the Rev-9 into a trap and killing it in a controlled environment. Despite Grace’s protests, Dani agreed, stating that she was done running. They met with Sarah’s contact, Major Dean, to acquire an EMP weapon, but the Rev-9 ambushed them in a helicopter. The group escaped to Bingham Air Force Base, where they boarded a C-5 transport plane. The Rev-9 pursued them, leaping onto the aircraft after Sarah and Carl destroyed its helicopter. In the ensuing fight, Dani and Sarah managed to push the machine off the plane using Carl’s van, but not before discovering that the EMP had been damaged in the firefight.
With their original plan compromised, Grace revealed the truth—Dani was the leader of the Resistance in the future, not her son. Dani had been the one to save Grace’s life and turn the tide of the war against Legion. Before they could process this, the Rev-9 launched another attack, crashing an aerial refueling tanker into their plane. As the aircraft went down, Dani, Grace, and Sarah escaped in a Humvee, while Carl battled the Rev-9. They parachuted down to a dam, where Dani and Sarah entangled the Rev-9 underwater using the parachute cords.
The final confrontation took place in the turbine room, where Dani, Sarah, Grace, and Carl worked together to destroy the Rev-9. Grace, mortally wounded, insisted that Dani use her thorium reactor as a weapon. Though devastated, Dani followed through, extracting the reactor and using it to overpower the Rev-9. With Carl’s help, she lodged the reactor into the machine’s skull. Carl, damaged beyond repair, dragged the Rev-9 into a pit, and the ensuing explosion destroyed them both.
Sometime later, Dani and Sarah traveled to observe a young Grace Harper playing in a park with her family. Watching the innocent child who would one day become her greatest ally, Dani vowed to protect her in this timeline. As they left, Sarah reminded Dani that she had to be ready for the coming war and the new Judgment Day that lay ahead.
