Unlike the traditional Eternal Dragons like Shenron and Porunga, who are summoned by the original Dragon Balls and Namekian Dragon Balls respectively, Dark Shenron emerges when the Dark Dragon Balls are gathered. These sinister Dragon Balls are known for their demonic and corruptive nature, reflecting the dark powers of Dark Shenron himself.

In the Super Dragon Ball Heroes series, Dark Shenron plays a pivotal role in the dark and alternate timelines where the Dark Dragon Balls are a central element. His appearance and powers are typically more ominous and destructive compared to his benevolent counterparts, often bringing chaos and darkness when summoned.

Appearance

Dark Shenron has a form reminiscent of Porunga but with a more streamlined and less bulky physique. His head combines elements of Shenron, Ultimate Shenron, and Black Smoke Shenron, giving him a familiar yet distinctly ominous appearance. Notably, he features a longer, flowing mane and a striking blue, lizard-like tongue. His overall look is demonic, akin to Black Smoke Shenron, reflecting his dark origins and the sinister power of the Dark Dragon Balls that bring him forth.

Dark Empire Saga

Dark Shenron, the ominous Eternal Dragon of the Dark Dragon Balls, was created under the influence of the Time Breaker-controlled Xeno Dende and at the behest of Towa. His creation and subsequent summoning mark a significant moment in the Dark Empire's quest for power.

Summoned by Mechikabura over Mechikabura's Tower in the Demon Realm, Dark Shenron is tasked with granting Mechikabura's wish for eternal youth. He cautions that fulfilling this wish will take time due to the vastness of Mechikabura's former power, a condition Mechikabura readily accepts.

As the Time Patrol mounts an assault on the tower to prevent the wish from being granted, Dark Shenron aids Mechikabura, Mira, and Dabura in their efforts to delay the Patrol's advance. Despite their resistance, Dark Shenron eventually completes the wish, restoring Mechikabura's youth, and then departs.

Dark King Mechikabura Saga

Dark Shenron is later summoned to the Time Nest by Demigra, Robelu, and the Time Patrol, using Dragon Balls infused with dark energy. Xeno Trunks attempts to wish for the reversal of Mechikabura's brainwashing of Chronoa. However, Dark Shenron is unable to directly counteract Mechikabura's formidable power. Instead, Demigra wishes for the ability to generally undo Mechikabura's mind control, which Dark Shenron grants, but only with the limitation that it works at close range.

Subsequently, Dark Shenron is called forth once more at Mechikabura's Tower by Mechikabura himself. This time, Mechikabura desires to harness the Chaos created by using Chronoa's time power to obliterate the universe's spacetime. Despite the fierce efforts of the Time Patrol to thwart this plan, Dark Shenron successfully executes Mechikabura's destructive wish.

Power

Dark Shenron's immense power is immediately evident upon his summoning, as his presence causes significant distortions in time and space. Comparable to Shenron in his ability to grant wishes, Dark Shenron's capabilities extend to restoring individuals to their peak power levels. An example of this is his restoration of Mechikabura to his prime, though due to the vastness of Mechikabura's former strength, the process takes a considerable amount of time and effort.

The Dark Dragon Balls required to summon Dark Shenron scatter across time and space, possessing malevolent beings and significantly enhancing their abilities. This amplification of power serves to further spread chaos and strengthen the influence of the Dark Empire.

In the manga, Dark Shenron's formidable strength is showcased when he defeats Super Saiyan 3 Xeno Trunks with a single blow, demonstrating his overwhelming superiority.

Moreover, Dark Shenron's power extends to the erasure of entire realities. At the behest of the Warrior in Black, he is capable of making the entire Pseudo Universe vanish from existence, highlighting the destructive potential of his abilities.

1. Appearance Inconsistency: In the depiction where Time Breaker Dende is creating Dark Shenron, the statue he uses to summon the Eternal Dragon resembles the regular Shenron, not Dark Shenron. This could imply a transformation or evolution process during the summoning ritual.
2. Unique Abilities: Dark Shenron stands out among the demonic Eternal Dragons for his ability to grant wishes. Unlike the Shadow Dragons and Mr. Poko Poko, who do not possess this capability, Dark Shenron can fulfill significant and powerful requests.
