Han Mi-nyeo
Han Mi-nyeo (한미녀), also known as Player 212, was a contestant in the 33rd Squid Game in 2020.
Burdened by heavy debt, Han Mi-nyeo chose to enter the high-stakes competition in hopes of securing financial freedom. She frequently boasted about having a child, though it was never confirmed. Throughout the games, she aligned herself with multiple contestants, many of whom ultimately betrayed her.
She briefly formed a relationship with Jang Deok-su after joining his team, but after his betrayal, she switched alliances and joined Seong Gi-hun’s team for the remainder of the competition. When players were required to form pairs for the Marbles game, she was left without a partner and was presumed dead by the other contestants when guards dragged her away. However, it was later revealed that she had been allowed to sit out the round.
During Glass Stepping Stones, she exacted revenge on Deok-su by pulling him down with her in a murder-suicide, ensuring they both perished together.

Her facial expressions are highly animated, ranging from cunning smirks to exaggerated pleading, reflecting her manipulative personality. She wears the standard green tracksuit with the number 212 printed on it, along with white slip-on sneakers.
Her physicality is notable in Glass Stepping Stones, where she demonstrates enough strength to pull Jang Deok-su off the bridge with her. Despite her unassuming appearance, she proves to be resourceful and cunning throughout the competition.
Personality
Han Mi-nyeo is highly manipulative, constantly seeking alliances to secure protection and gain advantages. She shifts loyalties to benefit herself, staying with the group that offers her the most security. She is also arrogant and belittles others to boost her own image. Before Tug of War, she openly insulted Sae-byeok and Ji-yeong, claiming she was superior to other women.
Biography
Han Mi-nyeo enters the Squid Game in hopes of paying off her significant financial debts. At one point, she claims to have a newborn child she has not yet named, though the truth of this remains uncertain. When she returns to the game after the initial vote to leave, Seong Gi-hun and Oh Il-nam speculate whether she named her child before coming back.
After witnessing the deadly nature of Red Light, Green Light, Mi-nyeo pleads to be released but ultimately votes to continue playing upon learning about the ₩45.6 billion prize, believing that life outside is just as unforgiving as the game itself.
Back in the competition, she persuades the guards to let her use the bathroom after lights-out to smoke. While inside, she is interrupted by Kang Sae-byeok, who is attempting to gather information about the upcoming game. Mi-nyeo helps boost her into the vents and stalls for time, though she remains wary of Sae-byeok’s intentions.
In the second round, Sugar Honeycombs, she aids Jang Deok-su by secretly handing him a lighter from her cigarette pack, allowing him to melt through the honeycomb rather than cutting it. Impressed, Deok-su invites her to join his team. However, their brief sexual relationship comes to an abrupt end when Deok-su later expels her from his group, choosing physically stronger men for Tug of War.
Betrayed, Mi-nyeo switches alliances and joins Seong Gi-hun’s team for Tug of War. Following this round, she struggles to find new allies and is left without a partner for Marbles, leading the other players to assume she has been eliminated. However, to their surprise, she is spared and advances to the fifth round, Glass Stepping Stones.
During this game, she selects the 11th position, placing her near the middle of the order. Seizing an opportunity for revenge, she confronts Deok-su for his betrayal, wraps her arms around his waist, and pulls them both off the bridge, ensuring they fall to their deaths together.
Trivia
- Despite her selfish nature, she made one act that ultimately benefited the other players—during Glass Stepping Stones, she took Jang Deok-su down with her, revealing the correct glass pane in the process.
- She is possibly a con artist, as implied by her frequent boasts of fraud.
- Jang Deok-su estimates her age to be 49. At the time of filming, her actress, Kim Joo-ryoung, was 45.
- She is the only character to have been part of both Jang Deok-su’s team and Seong Gi-hun’s team.
- She was the second-to-last female player to be eliminated in the 33rd Squid Game.
- Her name, Han Mi-nyeo, translates to "a beautiful woman," which may explain her frequent, confident exclamation: "I'm Han Mi-nyeo!"
- She is the only contestant to advance to the next round without participating in a game (Marbles).
- Kim Joo-ryoung, who portrayed Mi-nyeo, also appeared in the Netflix series Behind Every Star. In episode 9 of Behind Every Star, there is a scene that visually resembles Glass Stepping Stones, where Kim Joo-ryoung’s character steps on glass panels until she falls—though it is revealed to be just a dream sequence.
- On the V.I.P. screen, Mi-nyeo is mistakenly labeled as Player 202 instead of 212, likely a continuity error.
