Resurrection

From The Character Database

The ability to revive oneself or others after death. Typically, characters can perform one or the other, although some can do both. The limits of this ability vary by fiction and character; some can only resurrect those who have recently died, while others can bring back individuals who have been dead for a long time, even if little remains.

For characters who can resurrect themselves, this ability often coexists with Regeneration, though the process may take time. It's important to distinguish resurrection from Necromancy, which involves raising the dead as undead beings. Resurrection also encompasses Reincarnation, where characters return in the bodies of others through their own powers, rather than as a narrative mechanic.

Self-resurrection may be too slow for combat situations, yet it exists. The ability has limitations similar to regeneration, and having a consistent success rate does not imply the character can resurrect regardless of how they were killed.

The degree of resurrection ability should be specified using the same system as Regeneration. For instance, it should indicate if a character can resurrect up to a Mid level of damage.
