Time Travel

From The Character Database

Time Travel is the ability to move to different points in the past or future. While not inherently damaging, it can be used strategically to defeat an opponent when they are weaker or more vulnerable. Additionally, some users can exploit paradoxes, such as the grandfather paradox, to erase foes from existence.

In battles between characters from various franchises, time travelers are generally assumed to be able to travel into the past of either franchise for the sake of verse equalization. The goal is to allow the time traveler to use their ability as usual (e.g., for preparation or to cause time paradoxes) without granting them unfair advantages that they wouldn't have within their own franchise.

Limitations

  • Spatial Constraints: Users may be unable to travel to different points in space, remaining in the same location but in different time periods, potentially causing telefrag.
  • Dependency on Devices: Users may require a specific device or ability to time travel, and losing this method can render them unable to travel through time.
  • Rules and Restrictions: Certain universes may have rules against altering the past, and changing the past might be futile in a deterministic universe.
  • Lack of Information: Users may not have enough information about their opponents to locate and defeat them in a more vulnerable state in the past.
  • Protected Targets: Past versions of targets might be protected by other entities who will fight back against the user if necessary.
