Appearance

Vivian is known for her signature Chinese-style yellow dress, accessorized with bracelets on her wrists. She wears red ballet flats on her bare feet, and her hair is styled into two buns.

Personality

Vivian is spoiled and manipulative, often using underhanded methods to get what she wants. She is an obsessive admirer of both Yugi and Kaiba, but her infatuation with Yugi is particularly extreme—she hopes to make him her “love slave,” much to Téa’s irritation. She employs a combination of charm and skillful tactics to dominate her opponents in Duels.

Biography

Background

During the Asian Duel Monsters tournament, Vivian defeated the prestigious Clan of Nine Dragons, earning herself the title of "Duel Queen of Asia."

Yu-Gi-Oh! Grand Championship

Vivian has an ongoing rivalry with Rebecca Hawkins over Yugi’s attention. She even resorts to blackmail, forcing Yugi into a Duel by threatening to leave his grandfather with an injured back if he refuses. She wagers that if she wins, Yugi must go on a date with her (or become her "love slave" in the Japanese version). However, she loses all of her Duels.

In the Japanese epilogue (which was not shown in the English version), Vivian is seen Dueling alongside Mai Kujaku against the Meikyū Brothers atop the Great Wall of China. Since Mai was largely absent from the Grand Championship arc, Vivian seemingly took over the "femme fatale" role for that storyline.

Vivian makes her final cameo appearance eating noodles while Maximillion Pegasus reflects on how each character contributed to Pharaoh Atem’s journey.

Deck

Vivian uses a Martial Arts-themed Deck with an Asian aesthetic. Her strategy revolves around her ace monster, Dragon Lady, which she supports with a variety of Spell Cards. She primarily employs beatdown and burn tactics, using powerful monsters like Kung Fu Nyan Nyan and offensive cards such as Mystic Eruption to overwhelm her opponents.

Trivia

  • Ironically, despite being renowned as a professional duelist, Vivian lost all of her on-screen Duels in the anime.
  • Her personality and appearance closely resemble Meiling Li from Cardcaptor Sakura, another anime centered around cards. Additionally, her Deck reflects Meiling’s passion for martial arts.
  • Vivian also bears a resemblance to Chun-Li from the Street Fighter franchise. Interestingly, Street Fighter features a character similar to Yu-Gi-Oh!’s Fei Long, who was seen playing a game resembling Street Fighter. In the Toei Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, this character was called Dragon, while in the Dungeon Dice Monsters game, he was named Feng Long.
  • In the second episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V, a girl in the crowd appears to resemble Vivian.
