Yakon (ヤコン Yakon) is an alien from the Planet of Darkness and one of Babidi's henchmen, helping him in the revival of Majin Buu..

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Yakon is a formidable and terrifying creature with distinct physical features. He possesses large, retractable claws in each of his forearms, which are his primary weapons. Unlike most of Babidi's minions who bear the Majin symbol on their forehead, Yakon has this mark on his chest, signifying his allegiance and role in Babidi's dark forces.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Yakon is depicted as a ravenous and insatiable monster. His voracity is immediately apparent when he greets the Dragon Team by eagerly inquiring which of them he should consume first. This hunger is so intense that Yakon had devoured two of Babidi’s own messengers shortly before encountering the heroes, demonstrating his uncontrollable appetite and lack of discrimination between friend or foe.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

Yakon hails from a planet enveloped in perpetual darkness, a setting that has shaped his fearsome reputation across the universe. His notoriety is such that even Shin, the Supreme Kai, has heard tales of his formidable strength. At some point, Yakon fell under the control of the dark sorcerer Babidi. Under Babidi's command, Yakon was allocated a special room in the spaceship, perpetually shrouded in darkness to suit his natural environment. Although confined to this chamber, Yakon would be unleashed whenever Babidi required his monstrous services. However, Yakon’s gluttony was problematic for Babidi's other soldiers, as he would consume any who ventured too close to his domain.

Dragon Ball Z[edit | edit source]

World Tournament Saga Yakon first appears when Babidi dispatches two minions to summon him for battle against the Dragon Team, following Pui Pui's defeat by Vegeta. Demonstrating his monstrous hunger, Yakon consumes the messengers instead. Babidi then personally contacts Yakon, instructing him to proceed to the second level of the spaceship. There, Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, and Shin encounter Yakon as they descend through Babidi's ship to thwart the awakening of Majin Buu.

Upon meeting Yakon, Goku initially underestimates his speed but is quickly corrected when Yakon nearly strikes him with a swift claw swipe. To gain an advantage, Babidi transports the group to Yakon's home planet, a realm of complete darkness, believing it would give Yakon the upper hand. Yakon confidently claims he can see Goku in the darkness, but is taken aback when Goku dodges his attacks effortlessly and retaliates. Goku explains that he can sense his opponent's Ki, making sight unnecessary, and then transforms into a Super Saiyan, illuminating their surroundings with his energy.

Yakon, attracted to the light emitted by Goku's Super Saiyan form, begins to consume it, temporarily reverting Goku to his base form. Realizing Yakon’s unique ability to eat light, Goku strategically transforms again and powers up to an immense level, showcasing his Super Saiyan 2 strength briefly. Yakon's insatiable greed for Goku's light proves fatal, as he continues to ingest the overwhelming energy until he inflates and ultimately explodes from the overload.

Super Dragon Ball Heroes[edit | edit source]

Supreme Kai of Time Saga In the "Super Space-Time Tournament" arc, an incarnation of Yakon competes alongside other villains like Dabura, Pui Pui, Spopovich, and Yamu. In the manga, Yakon, Yamu, and Spopovich ally with characters like Commander Zeeun and members of the Ginyu Force to fight Yamcha. However, their efforts are futile as Jiren defeats them all effortlessly. Following their defeat, Yakon and his space-time are erased as they fail to progress to the tournament's next round.

Dragon Ball GT[edit | edit source]

Super 17 Saga Yakon makes a brief appearance when the barrier between Hell and Earth is breached, allowing the spirits of deceased villains to return. He ambushes Goten but is quickly dispatched by a Ki Blast from Trunks. Yakon is last seen standing in line at the Check-In Station behind Major Metallitron, indicating his return to the afterlife.
