==Biography== In ''Scribblenauts Unlimited'', Maxwell is introduced as one of 42 siblings in a family with 41 brothers, one sister, and two adventurous parents, Edgar and Julie. Each child received a magical gift from their parents' travels. Maxwell's gift was a magical notebook capable of bringing anything he wrote to life, while his sister Lily was given a globe that could teleport her anywhere in the world. The nature of the other siblings' gifts remains unknown. Maxwell's journey begins when he uses the notebook to trick a beggar into eating a rotten apple, causing the beggar to curse Lily, slowly turning her to stone. To save her, Maxwell learns he must collect Starites, magical objects created from the happiness of others, by helping people solve their problems. After lifting the curse, Maxwell continues his quest to find Starites, often creating entire worlds—whether paradisiacal or nightmarish—and tackling challenges along the way. ===Scribblenauts=== In the original game, Maxwell is enrolled in a mysterious university for "Scribblenauts" and tasked with collecting Starites. The reasons behind this quest are unexplained, but he uses his magical notebook to solve puzzles, trials, and other challenges to obtain them. ===Super Scribblenauts and Scribblenauts Remix=== In these games, Maxwell's motivation is similarly ambiguous. He is shown observing constellations, suggesting he might be imagining adventures among the stars or actually exploring them. The exact storyline remains uncertain. ===Scribblenauts Unlimited=== Unlike earlier games, Unlimited introduces a clear storyline. Maxwell's arrogance as a child leads to Lily's curse, prompting his quest to collect Starites by helping others. He learns a valuable lesson about kindness and responsibility, which is revealed to be a clever ruse orchestrated by his father, disguised as the beggar, to teach Maxwell and Lily the importance of empathy and humility. ===Scribblenauts Unmasked=== Maxwell and Lily engage in a playful argument about comic book heroes, leading Maxwell to write "Gotham" on a notebook page and touch it to Lily's globe. This transports them to Gotham City in the DC Universe. Unbeknownst to Maxwell, the word "Doppelganger" was written on the back of the page, bringing his sinister counterpart to life. Maxwell and Lily must team up with DC heroes to stop the Doppelganger and restore order.
