When Gamma 2 arrives back from his mission to gain intel on Piccolo, he informs the leading Red Ribbon members that he has killed Piccolo. However Gamma 1 tells him that he is mistaken and that Piccolo actually got away under a cloak of dust.

After Gohan arrives to rescue the "kidnapped" Pan from the Red Ribbon Army base, he makes a quick bee-line for his daughter only to be confronted by Gamma 1 who scolds his involvement with the so called evil Capsule Corporation. The two battle and Gohan resorts to using the Super Saiyan state but struggles against the mighty android until he sees his daughter in apparent distress. The anger causes Gohan to transform into his Potential Unleashed state and the two continue a much more evenly matched battle until Gamma 1 as well as his twin Gamma 2 witness Carmine nearly gun down Pan, causing them to realize their true enemy and defect to the Dragon Team's side. Unfortunately, shortly afterward, despite Dr. Hedo's protestations against it, Magenta releases the incomplete [[Cell Max]] at the cost of his life.

Gamma 1 and 2 engage in battle with the monster in order to save their creator Dr. Hedo and with a final sacrificial act from Gamma 2 and help from the Dragon Team, Cell Max is defeated. Following this, Bulma (having offered Dr. Hedo a job at Capsule Corporation after learning of his skin serum) also offers Gamma 1 a job at Capsule Corporation as a security officer.
