===X-Men=== Years later, Logan is depicted as a solitary figure in Canada, often seen smoking cigars and moving from place to place. He participates in cage fights to earn money, utilizing his adamantium skeleton and healing factor to his advantage. In a bar where one of his cage fights is held, Marie, now known as Rogue, watches him with interest. She observes a cage match where the previous winner, the Wolverine, easily defeats a new challenger in seconds. Marie is captivated by his performance. After the fights, Marie sits quietly at the bar. Wolverine joins her, ordering a beer and noticing her apparent discomfort in the bar. A news channel in the background reports on an upcoming summit of world leaders in New York, which will address various topics, including the mutant phenomenon. The earlier contestant approaches Wolverine, demanding his prize money and implying that Logan must be a mutant due to his ability to endure a beating without visible injuries. Wolverine remains unresponsive, and the wrestler pretends to back off but then attacks with a knife. Marie warns Wolverine, who swiftly draws his adamantium claws. The bartender threatens Wolverine with a gun, but Logan confronts him as well. After dealing with the situation, Wolverine leaves the bar. Marie follows him and hides in the trailer of his truck, hoping he will understand that she knows he is a mutant. On the Road and the Encounter with Sabretooth While driving, Wolverine notices movement in the back of his truck. He stops, exits, and discovers Marie hiding in the trailer. Despite her apology and claim of needing a ride, Wolverine kicks her out and resumes driving. Marie protests, reminding him that she saved his life by warning him about the knife-wielding contestant. Wolverine dismisses her and drives off. However, feeling guilty, he stops after a short distance and allows her to re-enter the truck. During their journey, Logan and Marie start to bond, forming a father/daughter-like relationship. Marie introduces herself as Rogue and inquires about his life, but Logan remains silent. Noticing her shivering, he turns on the heater and advises her to warm her hands, though she pulls away, explaining that physical contact with her causes harm to others. Rogue asks if it hurts when Logan's claws emerge, to which he admits it does. She also questions his name, and he reveals his real name is Logan. Rogue shares her name and advises him to wear his seat belt, but he brushes off her advice. Shortly after, they crash into a tree branch, throwing Logan through the windshield and into the snow. As the truck catches fire, Rogue, still trapped, watches in shock as Logan’s wounds heal. Logan, sensing danger, picks up the scent of Sabretooth. Sabretooth emerges from the woods, attacking Logan and throwing him against the truck. Rogue, terrified by the spreading fire and gas canister, is stuck in her seat. Cyclops and Storm arrive on the scene; Cyclops uses his optic blast to free Rogue and then rescues both her and Logan from the burning truck. Cyclops and Storm swiftly take them to the X-Mansion. Wolverine's Arrival at the X-Mansion Wolverine lies unconscious in the X-Men’s base, where Jean Grey is attending to him. When she attempts to administer an injection, he wakes up, instinctively perceiving her as a threat. He swiftly escapes and navigates the tunnels of Charles Xavier's mansion. Unsure of his direction, he starts hearing telepathic guidance from Charles Xavier, which leads him to a closet with clothes. He grabs a hoodie just before an elevator opens nearby. He enters the elevator, which takes him to the upper floors. Hiding from some mutant children running about, Wolverine eventually finds himself in a classroom where Xavier is teaching. Xavier acknowledges him with a greeting and finishes the lesson. After the students leave, one, named Kitty, returns to retrieve her purse and phases through the door. Confused, Logan is introduced to Xavier, who offers him breakfast. Logan inquires about his location, and Xavier informs him that he is in Westchester, New York, at the X-Mansion. Xavier explains that Logan was attacked and brought to the mansion for medical care. Logan protests that he does not need medical attention and asks about Rogue. Xavier reassures him that Rogue is present and safe. Xavier’s team enters the room, and he introduces them: Ororo Munroe (Storm) and Scott Summers (Cyclops). Cyclops extends his hand for a handshake, but Logan ignores it. Xavier explains that they saved Logan's life, and Jean Grey joins the group. Xavier then reveals that the mansion is a school for "Gifted Youngsters" — mutants — and that Logan is secure from Magneto. When Logan asks, "What’s a Magneto?", Xavier explains that Magneto is a powerful mutant and that the mutant who attacked him, Sabretooth, is an ally of Magneto. Finding the situation absurd, Logan attempts to leave, brusquely telling Cyclops to move aside. Xavier then uses his telepathic abilities to convince Logan that he can help him uncover his past, revealing that it's been 15 years since Logan lost his memory. Intrigued, Logan expresses interest in learning more about the place. Xavier elaborates on the school, persuading Logan that it's the ideal place for Rogue. He reveals that the school serves as a front, and the lower levels are entirely different. Xavier takes Logan to the hangar where the X-Men's supersonic jet, the Blackbird, is housed. He recounts his discovery of his telepathic abilities as a child and his meeting with Erik Lensherr, who could manipulate magnetic fields. Believing humanity would never accept them, Erik, who became Magneto, grew disillusioned and hostile. Xavier offers Logan a deal: 48 hours to understand why Magneto is pursuing him, in exchange for helping Logan recover his lost memories. Meanwhile, at the X-Mansion, Jean is conducting tests on Logan. He apologizes for his earlier aggression and attempts to flirt with her. Jean responds with a stern look and promptly places him in the scanning machine. Later that night, Logan appears to have accepted Xavier’s offer for assistance. Jean leads him to his room where he will be staying for the night. He continues to flirt with Jean, expressing jealousy over her relationship with Scott, and jokingly asks if her talent is “putting up with that guy.” Jean reveals that she is telekinetic—able to move objects with her mind. When Logan asks what kind of objects, she demonstrates by closing the closet door with her powers. She also mentions having some telepathic abilities, though not as strong as Xavier's. Logan asks her to read his mind, but she initially hesitates before agreeing and places her hands on his head. She glimpses images of fire and the procedure he underwent, then stops. Logan, eager for information, asks her to share what she saw, but Scott interrupts as he enters. Jean, feeling slightly embarrassed, leaves, and Scott and Logan exchange jabs about Jean and how Scott had to rescue Logan. Scott warns Logan to keep away from Jean. Later that night, Logan is asleep in his room but is troubled by a nightmare about the adamantium procedure. Rogue enters to wake him, but as he jolts awake, still distressed, he accidentally extends his claws into her chest. Shocked, he retracts them, leaving three wounds in her body. Rogue trembles as he frantically calls for help. She touches his cheek to comfort him. Ororo, Jean, Scott, and some children, including Bobby/Iceman, arrive just in time to see Rogue’s wounds heal and Logan lose consciousness. Jean and Scott rush to help Logan, while Rogue apologizes, saying it was an accident, and leaves the room. The other children, apprehensive, distance themselves from her, though Iceman looks on with concern. When Logan regains consciousness, Xavier is by his side. Logan asks about Rogue’s condition, and Xavier reassures him that she will be fine. Logan inquires about what happened, and Xavier explains that Rogue’s power involves absorbing energies, including mutant abilities. In Logan’s case, she absorbed his healing factor. Logan expresses that it felt as though she nearly killed him, and Xavier confirms that if Rogue had held on any longer, she might have. In the underground area, Xavier and Cyclops are discussing Magneto’s motives concerning Wolverine. Xavier senses Scott’s disapproval of Logan. At that moment, Logan and Ororo enter, and Logan inquires about Rogue’s whereabouts. Xavier, after a brief telepathic scan, informs him that Rogue is missing. Shortly afterward, Xavier, Scott, Jean, Ororo, and Logan proceed to a secured room where Xavier introduces Logan to Cerebro. Cerebro is a large, circular room with a bridge leading to the central machine. Xavier explains that Cerebro amplifies his telepathic abilities, enabling him to track mutants over vast distances. This is how he plans to locate Rogue. When Logan asks why Cerebro isn't used to find Magneto, Xavier explains that Magneto has managed to shield himself from Cerebro’s detection. Logan questions how Magneto could accomplish this, and Xavier reveals that Magneto helped him build the device. Xavier then dons the Cerebro helmet, and once the others leave, he begins the search. Outside, Logan inquires if Jean has ever used Cerebro, to which she replies that she hasn’t, as it requires precise control and could be hazardous for someone like her. Inside Cerebro, Xavier quickly locates Rogue at a train station. Logan starts to leave the mansion to find her, but Xavier stops him, warning that if he leaves, Magneto might capture him. Instead, Xavier sends Cyclops and Storm to retrieve her. In the garage, Scott and Ororo prepare to depart when Scott notices his motorcycle is missing. On the road, Logan is seen riding Scott’s motorcycle towards the train station. At the station, Rogue is waiting on a train and observes others enjoying human contact, feeling sorrowful that she can no longer experience such touch. Logan arrives and sits beside her. They both apologize for the previous night’s incident, and Logan asks if she’s running away again. Rogue reveals that a boy at the school told her the professor is angry with her. On the train, Rogue asks Wolverine if he thinks she should return to the mansion. He advises her to trust her instincts. She then shares a painful memory about her first kiss with a boy named David, who ended up in a coma for three weeks because of her powers, and how she still feels him—and Logan—in her mind. Wolverine embraces her through her shirt, encouraging her to stay with Xavier, explaining that Xavier might be one of the few who truly understands her situation and genuinely wants to help. He promises to take care of her and convinces her to give the X-Men another chance. As the train begins to move, the Brotherhood arrives at the station. The train suddenly stops, the lights go out, and chaos ensues. Wolverine watches in horror as Magneto uses his powers to slice open the train and float inside. Magneto identifies Wolverine by his metal-laden body and uses his powers to lift and torment him while Rogue screams for him to stop. When Logan asks Magneto why he is targeting him, Magneto reveals that Wolverine is not his true target; he is after Rogue. Horrified, Logan watches as Magneto throws him aside and knocks Rogue unconscious with a tranquilizer dart, capturing her. Rogue is then taken to become a part of Magneto’s machine on the Statue of Liberty. Back at the mansion, Logan is washing his face in frustration, upset with Xavier for misleading him about Magneto's intentions. Xavier apologizes, admitting that Magneto’s helmet blocks his telepathy, which led to the error. Logan, still enraged, decides to find Rogue on his own. Storm tries to persuade him to join their fight for humanity, but Logan refuses, saying he has no interest in helping a world that despises him. He also questions Storm's allegiance, pointing out that Magneto is right about an impending war. Storm replies that at least she has chosen a side. As Logan heads for the door, he encounters Senator Kelly, who is searching for Dr. Jean Grey. In the underground lab, Senator Kelly lies on a table while Logan and Jean stand nearby. Xavier approaches Kelly, introduces himself, and acknowledges Kelly's fear of being treated like a mutant at a regular hospital. Kelly responds, "Tell that to the ones who did this to me." Xavier asks Kelly to relax and begins reading his mind. He delves into Kelly’s memory of Magneto transforming him into a mutant and Mystique helping him escape from the machine. Magneto appears weakened and exhausted after the procedure. Later, upstairs, Xavier, Scott, Jean, and Logan discuss the situation. Xavier explains that Magneto uses a machine to produce radiation that induces mutations in ordinary humans. Jean adds that the mutation is unnatural, causing Kelly's cells to break down as his body rejects the change. When Scott inquires about the effects on mutants, Xavier says there will be no impact on them, but the radiation could be harmful to humans. Logan asks about Magneto’s interest in Rogue, and Xavier admits he doesn't know. Frustrated, Logan tries to leave, but Scott realizes the machine’s power source is Magneto himself, and that Magneto needs Rogue to absorb his power to keep the machine operational and sustain his life. Storm interrupts Scott and Logan's argument to announce that Senator Kelly has died. Xavier decides to find Rogue and instructs Scott and Logan to resolve their differences. Cyclops, Jean, Storm, and Wolverine gather to discuss their plan. They now understand Magneto’s scheme and realize he is unaware that his machine is lethal to humans. They plan to land on Liberty Island and thwart his plans to prevent mass casualties. Logan questions the likelihood of being detected by harbor patrol, but Scott responds that if the patrol can spot them, they deserve to be caught. The team departs in the Blackbird, the X-Men’s jet, with the students watching in awe. Scott pilots the jet, and as they approach the bridge, they land on the water while Storm creates a fog to provide cover. The Blackbird lands, and the X-Men disembark, spotting the machine atop the Statue of Liberty's torch. As they go through a metal detector, it alarms on Logan, who destroys it with his claws. Cyclops, annoyed, faces Logan, who responds by sheathing his outer claws and leaving the middle one extended, a gesture that Cyclops interprets as a flip-off. Cyclops smiles while Jean rolls her eyes. The team proceeds cautiously through the hall, but Toad and Mystique, members of the Brotherhood, are already lying in wait, concealed. Logan’s senses detect the presence of the Brotherhood, and he alerts the team, saying, "Keep your eye open," as a jest at Scott's expense. Suddenly, another Wolverine appears and begins to fight Logan. The others struggle to distinguish between the real Wolverine and the imposter. Both Wolverines unsheathe their claws and engage in a fierce battle, causing significant destruction. Eventually, the fake Wolverine, who is actually Mystique in disguise, reveals her true form and manages to outmaneuver Logan. Later, Storm approaches Logan to confirm his identity. Logan remains silent, uses his sense of smell, and identifies that the imposter is nearby. Storm insists they regroup, but Logan retorts that she isn't part of the group and then unsheathes his claws into her stomach. Mystique morphs back into her true form and collapses. Logan finds Scott and Jean, and Scott demands proof of Logan’s identity. Logan simply replies, "You're a dick," which Scott accepts as sufficient proof. Storm appears upstairs, and the team follows her. They reach the torch but are soon warned by Logan to leave. Cyclops questions the issue, and Logan explains he is immobilized. Magneto lifts him into the air and pins him to the wall, using metal pieces to restrain the others despite Scott’s efforts to use his optic beams. Cyclops is restrained in a way that his visor points towards Jean’s head, preventing him from using his powers. Magneto descends and manipulates Logan’s hands to prevent him from unsheathing his claws. Sabretooth arrives, removes Cyclops’s visor, and Magneto cautions against sending lightning into the massive copper structure of the torch, highlighting the danger of such an action. Magneto explains his plans to the X-Men, while Rogue's cries for help echo through the area. Wolverine challenges Magneto, suggesting that if he truly believed in his cause, he would have volunteered for the machine himself. Magneto ascends to the machine as Rogue continues to scream. Logan struggles to free himself, using his claws with great effort, and Jean, alarmed, calls out his name. Sabretooth approaches Logan's restrained form, but Logan leaps at him and drives his claws into Sabretooth’s stomach. Despite sharing Wolverine’s healing factor, Sabretooth and Logan engage in a fierce battle atop the statue's head. During the fight, Wolverine retrieves his dog tags. Sabretooth throws him off the statue, but Logan manages to cling to it and then jumps back up. He defeats Sabretooth but hears Rogue’s pained cries. Logan falls, using his claws to cling to the wall, narrowly missing Scott and Jean on the other side. Sabretooth, believing Logan is dead, approaches Storm, but Logan reappears, grabbing Cyclops's visor. Jean instructs Scott to open his eyes when she gives the signal. As the torch breaks and the machine activates, Jean telekinetically places the visor on Scott's eyes and shouts, "Now!" Cyclops blasts Sabretooth through the wall and into a boat moored near Liberty Island, freeing Wolverine to rescue the others. Logan asks Cyclops if he can target the machine, but Scott protests that it would harm Rogue. Cyclops then asks Storm if she can lift him high enough, but she admits she can’t control her power precisely enough. Logan suggests she at least levitate him so Cyclops can still attempt to destroy the machine if necessary. Cyclops agrees and asks Jean to stabilize Logan with her telekinesis. Together, they guide Logan to the top of the machine. As the energy field spreads, Wolverine jumps inside and attempts to cut Rogue free, but Magneto’s powers prevent him from doing so. Cyclops readies his visor to fire, but Jean urges him to wait. The X-Men manage to rescue Rogue before the machine can extend her powers any further. Cyclops seizes the opportunity and blasts Magneto, disabling him. Wolverine, now free, destroys the machine, halting the energy field before it can cause more mutations. He frees Rogue from her chains and holds her, but she is unresponsive and he notices a white streak in her hair. Desperate to save her, he tries to transfer his healing powers to her by touching her cheek. Initially, this doesn’t seem to work, and Logan fears she might be dead. Then, he begins to develop multiple wounds across his face and chest, while Rogue suddenly awakens. Logan collapses, unconscious, with gashes all over him. At the mansion, Logan wakes to find Jean Grey by his side. He inquires about their success, and Jean reveals that Xavier is lying on a nearby table. Later, as Jean checks on Logan and finds his wounds have healed, she tells him that Rogue is okay. Logan tries to express his feelings for Jean, but it’s clear she is devoted to Scott. Logan changes the topic to ask about the professor, and Jean reassures him that Xavier is fine. Xavier later informs Logan of an abandoned military facility in the Canadian Rockies near where they discovered him, suggesting it might hold answers to his past. He also asks if Logan plans to say goodbye to the children. Rogue spots Logan preparing to leave and rushes to speak with him. Logan tells her he needs to take care of some things in the north, and she expresses her desire for him to stay. He promises he will return and leaves her with his dog tags as a memento. Wolverine then departs the mansion on Cyclops' motorcycle, heading toward Alkali Lake. ====X2: X-Men United: The Movie Prequel: Wolverine==== Logan, while filling up Cyclops' motorcycle, discovers that Sabretooth has been trailing him. They engage in a fight, which ends with Logan victorious. However, he notices that Sabretooth possesses the same dog tags as him. The two then go out for drinks and have a conversation. Stryker's men arrive with orders to target Sabretooth. The two men fight the soldiers together, displaying impressive teamwork, unaware that they are brothers. Eventually, they are subdued and wake up in a helicopter. In a dramatic turn, Sabretooth throws Logan off the helicopter, sacrificing himself. Later, Stryker learns that the adamantium bonding failed with Sabretooth and orders his men to shoot him with adamantium, killing him. Meanwhile, Logan resumes his search for Alkali Lake.
