Logan (born James "Jimmy" Howlett), also known as Wolverine, was a mutant with retractable claws from his forearms, enhanced physical capabilities, and a powerful regenerative healing factor. As the co-leader of the X-Men, he was a renowned hero and warrior, having fought in numerous wars.

After many years of leading the X-Men and gaining a legendary status, Logan became old and vulnerable due to the poisoning of his adamantium skeleton, which caused his healing factor to fail. While caring for Charles Xavier with the assistance of Caliban, Logan discovered a daughter in Laura. This led to Zander Rice and his men pursuing them, culminating in their defeat, including the brutal killing of his own clone, X-24. Embracing the end he had longed for, Wolverine died peacefully from his injuries with Laura by his side.

Many years later, Deadpool, arriving from another timeline, visited Logan's grave, believing Logan might still be alive due to his regenerative abilities. Upon exhuming the grave, Deadpool found Logan truly dead and fully decomposed. The TVA then located Deadpool, intending to erase him and his timeline. Deadpool desecrated Logan's remains, using the adamantium skeleton as a weapon against the TVA. He dismantled the skeleton, using the bones as blunt weapons and makeshift throwing knives, and improperly attached Logan's forearms to his own to use the claws, before leaving to search for a new Logan in the Multiverse

Biography[edit | edit source]

Early Life[edit | edit source]

James "Jimmy" Howlett was born in 1832 in the area that would later become the Northwest Territories of Canada. In 1845, while James was bedridden with illness, Victor visited him and kept him company. James' father, John Howlett, checked on him, but shortly after, Thomas Logan, the groundskeeper and the secret lover of James' mother, Elizabeth Howlett, entered the Howlett home drunk, searching for Elizabeth. A confrontation ensued, and Thomas shot John. Hearing the gunfire, James investigated and found his father dead.

In his grief, James' mutation manifested, sprouting bone claws from his fists and knuckles. Enraged, James roared and impaled Thomas with his new claws. Thomas revealed with his dying breath that he, not John, was James' true father, calling him his son.

After Thomas' death, Elizabeth, horrified by James' mutation, called him a freak and questioned what he was, ultimately casting him out. Confused and scared, James fled into the woods, followed by Victor. Victor, also a mutant, caught up to James and declared that they were brothers, vowing to always stick together. They embraced a life of rage and violence, and because Victor was his only true family, James began using the name "Logan".

Over the next 128 years, Logan and Victor, growing from boys into men, bravely serve as soldiers for the United States in numerous wars. Utilizing their mutant abilities, they fight in the American Civil War on the Union side under President Abraham Lincoln, on the Western Front in World War I, participate in the D-Day Invasion during World War II, and serve in the Vietnam War. However, over time, Victor becomes increasingly violent and uncontrollable.

Meeting Ichirō Yashida[edit | edit source]

In 1945, Logan is transferred from the European front to the Pacific front, where he is captured by Japanese forces and sent to a POW camp near Nagasaki before August 9. During the Nagasaki bombing on August 9, 1945, Logan saves the life of Ichirō Yashida, a young officer in the Imperial Japanese Army. In gratitude, Yashida offers Logan a Japanese samurai sword, which Logan declines, telling Yashida to keep it for him, promising to return for it someday.

Meeting Charles and Erik[edit | edit source]

In 1962, while traveling the world in search of mutants to fight the Hellfire Club, a young Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr encounter Logan in a bar. They introduce themselves, but Logan dismisses them before they can continue the conversation.

Affair with Gwen[edit | edit source]

In January 1973, Wolverine is hired as a young woman's bodyguard but enters a relationship with her, violating the rules. He is discovered the next morning.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine[edit | edit source]

During the Vietnam War in the 1970s, the last conflict Logan and Victor fought in, Victor attempts to rape and kill a young Vietnamese woman. When soldiers from his platoon and their commanding officer try to intervene, Victor kills the commanding officer and savagely attacks the soldiers. Logan comes to his brother's aid, reluctantly assisting Victor by unsheathing his claws and preparing to fight, revealing their powers to their unit. For this serious act of insubordination, both Logan and Victor are sentenced to death and placed before a firing squad. They are shot but survive due to their regenerative healing factors.

Surviving the execution, they are imprisoned. Their unique abilities soon catch the attention of Major William Stryker, who visits them in their cell. Stryker offers them a way out by joining his special team of mutants, Team X. Logan and Victor agree, joining five other mutants—Wade Wilson, Agent Zero, Chris Bradley, Fred Dukes, and John Wraith—on covert missions around the world.

On one mission, under Stryker's command, Team X is sent to Lagos, Nigeria, to retrieve a mysterious meteorite, later revealed to be adamantium, from a diamond trafficking operation. They attack a compound, defeat the security forces, and obtain the rock from the compound's leader, discovering it originates from a remote village.

Upon reaching the village, Stryker and the team interrogate the villagers about other rocks like the one they found, learning that the rock fell from the sky as a meteor. Stryker wants more information and has Wade Wilson, the only one who can communicate in the villagers' language, interrogate them. When the village chief refuses to reveal the origins of the meteorites, believing them to be sacred, Stryker orders his team to attack the villagers. Victor is directed to kill the chief, and chaos ensues as the team starts killing civilians. However, when the mutants begin attacking, Logan intervenes to stop them.

After a heated argument with Victor, Logan quits the team, refusing to kill innocent people. He is disgusted by the murders committed by his teammates, Stryker's willingness to harm civilians, and Victor's acceptance of it all. Logan walks away, ignoring Victor's calls, and abandons the group. With his departure, Team X disbands, leaving only Agent Zero and Victor loyal to Stryker.

Six years later, Logan is living in western Canada in a cabin in the Canadian Rockies, working as a lumberjack. He is in a relationship with Kayla Silverfox, a schoolteacher. After years of warfare, Logan seeks a peaceful life. Kayla uses her power to calm Logan, helping him manage the nightmares of his past.

One day, Agent Zero and Stryker visit Logan at his job to inform him that Bradley and Wade have been killed. Stryker asks Logan if he remembers Agent Zero, to which Logan replies by asking if Zero still shoots first and asks questions later. Zero pulls out his gun, shoots Logan's cigar, then asks if Logan still chews on cheap cigars. When Stryker tells Logan he has a job for him, Logan replies that he already has a job. Zero taunts Logan by asking if his job as a lumberjack pays 18 grand a year. Logan corrects him, saying it pays 18.5 grand a year, adding that he hasn't had to kill anyone recently. Zero asks if Logan misses it, and Logan, irritated, says he does now, before Stryker orders Zero back to the car.

One night, Kayla tells Logan a story from her Native American heritage about a spirit named Kuekuatsheu who fell in love with the Moon but was tricked by the Trickster into stepping into the mortal world, from which he could never return. Kuekuatsheu was forever separated from the Moon, forced to look at her and howl whenever he saw her.

While Logan is at work one day, Victor attacks Kayla. Sensing Victor's presence, Logan rushes to Kayla's abandoned car but arrives too late. Finding Kayla dead and recognizing the claw marks on the car, Logan realizes this was Victor's doing.

That evening, Logan tracks down Victor in a bar and, consumed by rage, attacks him. After a brutal fight, Victor breaks Logan's bone claws on his left hand before leaving. The next morning, Logan wakes up in an emergency room where Stryker is present. Stryker offers to help Logan get revenge on Victor with an experimental procedure. Logan agrees but makes it clear his only focus is revenge.

Before undergoing the adamantium procedure, Logan requests new dog tags with the name "Wolverine" on them, inspired by the story Kayla told him. Stryker infuses Logan's bones with adamantium, and he briefly flatlines. Moments later, he revives and escapes the facility after overhearing Stryker's plan to erase his memories to use his DNA for a future project. Logan flees and eventually hides in a barn.

The elderly couple who owns the barn offers him food and shelter. Initially cautious, they soon warm up to Logan, giving him their son's jacket and letting him use their motorcycle. However, after offering him breakfast, Agent Zero kills the couple. The barn is bombed, but Logan escapes on the bike. After a daring chase, he takes down Zero's helicopter.

After killing Zero, Logan seeks out the remaining members of Team X. He finds John Wraith and Fred Dukes in Las Vegas. Seeking revenge for Kayla's death and Stryker's betrayal, Logan questions Dukes about Stryker's activities. A misunderstanding leads to a boxing match between Logan and Dukes. Logan wins and interrogates Dukes, who reveals information about a mutant and former prisoner of Stryker named Remy LeBeau, known as Gambit. Logan and Wraith find Gambit in New Orleans and ask him about Stryker's Island, where mutants are held for Stryker's new project, Weapon XI.

Gambit's Encounter and Battle with Victor

Mistakenly believing Logan intends to take him back to the Island, Gambit attacks. Shortly after, Logan discovers Wraith's lifeless body with Victor crouching nearby, collecting DNA samples. Enraged, Logan knocks out Gambit and fights Victor. Logan gains the upper hand and is about to kill Victor when Gambit, having regained consciousness, attacks Logan from a rooftop. This distraction allows Victor to escape. After subduing Gambit again, Logan clarifies his intentions and convinces Gambit to take him to the Island.

With Gambit's help, Logan arrives at Three Mile Island. There, he confronts Stryker, who reveals that Deadpool is part of his plans and that Kayla is alive and had been reluctantly working for Stryker the entire time. Victor, watching from a nearby room, listens as Stryker explains that he and Victor conspired to capture various mutants. They tricked Logan into undergoing the adamantium bonding procedure by faking Kayla's death. Stryker had recruited Kayla to seduce Logan and create an incident compelling him to undergo the procedure. Feeling betrayed, Logan likens Kayla to the Trickster who deceived him and decides to leave.

Hearing Kayla's screams moments later, Logan rushes back to the facility and engages Victor in battle again. Logan defeats Victor, pinning him down and preparing to kill him. However, Kayla intervenes, persuading Logan that killing Victor would make him no better than Stryker, emphasizing that Logan is not an animal. Despite Victor's taunts, Logan listens to Kayla and chooses to spare Victor, knocking him out instead.

Aftermath and Confrontation with Weapon XI

Following the fight between Victor and Logan, Kayla reveals that she followed Stryker's orders because her sister, Emma Frost, is being held captive on the island with other mutants. Some of these mutants' powers were combined into Deadpool (Weapon XI). Kayla explains that she faked her death to help free her sister, a promise Stryker ultimately broke by continuing to hold Emma hostage for her mutant abilities. Despite her involvement in the deception, Kayla assures Logan that her feelings for him were genuine. Logan, understanding her predicament, agrees to help her free the mutant prisoners.

After liberating the prisoners, Logan and the mutants are confronted by Weapon XI, controlled by Stryker. Logan instructs the others to find another way out while he engages Weapon XI to keep them safe. As they clash, Weapon XI uses the powers he obtained from various mutants, including Cyclops' optic beams, Wolverine's healing ability, John Wraith's teleportation, Chris Bradley's technopathy, and Wilson's retractable blades.

Logan climbs a nuclear reactor's cooling tower with Weapon XI in pursuit, using Wraith's teleportation ability. Logan puts forth his best effort but ends up pinned down. Just as Weapon XI is about to decapitate him on Stryker's command, Victor intervenes, pushing Weapon XI away and saving Logan. Victor declares, "Nobody kills you but me."

Logan and Victor team up against Deadpool, who teleports around them. They eventually manage to catch and stab him, but Deadpool teleports to the other side of the reactor. During the fight, Deadpool's optic blasts activate, endangering both Logan and Victor. Deadpool fires his optic blasts at Logan, who blocks them with his adamantium claws. Victor attacks Deadpool, but Logan falls over the edge of the reactor, digging his claws into the wall to climb back up as Victor is blasted by Weapon XI.

Logan returns to the fight just as Deadpool is about to kill Victor. He jumps and slashes Weapon XI through the neck, decapitating him. Weapon XI's head falls into the reactor, his optic blasts still active, cutting through the reactor as his body tumbles below.

After Defeating Deadpool

After defeating Deadpool, Logan helps Victor out of the hole and coldly informs him that their relationship is over, stating he wants nothing more to do with him. Victor insists they can never truly be done, reminding Logan that they are still brothers and that brothers always look out for each other, before jumping off the side of the reactor cooling tower.

As the reactor begins to break down, Logan jumps off the ledge and collapses upon landing. Just as a piece of the reactor is about to crush him, Gambit saves Logan by breaking it apart. They briefly part ways, with Gambit helping the children while Logan tends to Kayla. Logan carries Kayla a few steps before Stryker shoots him in the back. Enraged, Logan sprints toward Stryker but is shot in the head with adamantium bullets, causing him to fall unconscious and lose much of his long-term memory.

As Stryker is about to kill Kayla, she uses her power to order him to leave, and then dies. Logan wakes up, having forgotten everything and everyone, including Gambit and Kayla. He finds Kayla's corpse and gently shuts her eyes before parting ways with Gambit.

In a post-credits scene, Wolverine is seen drinking at a bar in Japan. When the bartender asks if he is drinking to forget, Wolverine replies that he's actually drinking to remember.

X-Men[edit | edit source]

Years later, Logan is depicted as a solitary figure in Canada, often seen smoking cigars and moving from place to place. He participates in cage fights to earn money, utilizing his adamantium skeleton and healing factor to his advantage.

In a bar where one of his cage fights is held, Marie, now known as Rogue, watches him with interest. She observes a cage match where the previous winner, the Wolverine, easily defeats a new challenger in seconds. Marie is captivated by his performance.

After the fights, Marie sits quietly at the bar. Wolverine joins her, ordering a beer and noticing her apparent discomfort in the bar. A news channel in the background reports on an upcoming summit of world leaders in New York, which will address various topics, including the mutant phenomenon.

The earlier contestant approaches Wolverine, demanding his prize money and implying that Logan must be a mutant due to his ability to endure a beating without visible injuries. Wolverine remains unresponsive, and the wrestler pretends to back off but then attacks with a knife. Marie warns Wolverine, who swiftly draws his adamantium claws.

The bartender threatens Wolverine with a gun, but Logan confronts him as well. After dealing with the situation, Wolverine leaves the bar. Marie follows him and hides in the trailer of his truck, hoping he will understand that she knows he is a mutant.

On the Road and the Encounter with Sabretooth

While driving, Wolverine notices movement in the back of his truck. He stops, exits, and discovers Marie hiding in the trailer. Despite her apology and claim of needing a ride, Wolverine kicks her out and resumes driving. Marie protests, reminding him that she saved his life by warning him about the knife-wielding contestant. Wolverine dismisses her and drives off. However, feeling guilty, he stops after a short distance and allows her to re-enter the truck.

During their journey, Logan and Marie start to bond, forming a father/daughter-like relationship. Marie introduces herself as Rogue and inquires about his life, but Logan remains silent. Noticing her shivering, he turns on the heater and advises her to warm her hands, though she pulls away, explaining that physical contact with her causes harm to others. Rogue asks if it hurts when Logan's claws emerge, to which he admits it does. She also questions his name, and he reveals his real name is Logan. Rogue shares her name and advises him to wear his seat belt, but he brushes off her advice. Shortly after, they crash into a tree branch, throwing Logan through the windshield and into the snow. As the truck catches fire, Rogue, still trapped, watches in shock as Logan’s wounds heal.

Logan, sensing danger, picks up the scent of Sabretooth. Sabretooth emerges from the woods, attacking Logan and throwing him against the truck. Rogue, terrified by the spreading fire and gas canister, is stuck in her seat. Cyclops and Storm arrive on the scene; Cyclops uses his optic blast to free Rogue and then rescues both her and Logan from the burning truck. Cyclops and Storm swiftly take them to the X-Mansion. Wolverine's Arrival at the X-Mansion Wolverine lies unconscious in the X-Men’s base, where Jean Grey is attending to him. When she attempts to administer an injection, he wakes up, instinctively perceiving her as a threat. He swiftly escapes and navigates the tunnels of Charles Xavier's mansion. Unsure of his direction, he starts hearing telepathic guidance from Charles Xavier, which leads him to a closet with clothes. He grabs a hoodie just before an elevator opens nearby. He enters the elevator, which takes him to the upper floors.

Hiding from some mutant children running about, Wolverine eventually finds himself in a classroom where Xavier is teaching. Xavier acknowledges him with a greeting and finishes the lesson. After the students leave, one, named Kitty, returns to retrieve her purse and phases through the door. Confused, Logan is introduced to Xavier, who offers him breakfast. Logan inquires about his location, and Xavier informs him that he is in Westchester, New York, at the X-Mansion. Xavier explains that Logan was attacked and brought to the mansion for medical care. Logan protests that he does not need medical attention and asks about Rogue. Xavier reassures him that Rogue is present and safe.

Xavier’s team enters the room, and he introduces them: Ororo Munroe (Storm) and Scott Summers (Cyclops). Cyclops extends his hand for a handshake, but Logan ignores it. Xavier explains that they saved Logan's life, and Jean Grey joins the group. Xavier then reveals that the mansion is a school for "Gifted Youngsters" — mutants — and that Logan is secure from Magneto. When Logan asks, "What’s a Magneto?", Xavier explains that Magneto is a powerful mutant and that the mutant who attacked him, Sabretooth, is an ally of Magneto.

Finding the situation absurd, Logan attempts to leave, brusquely telling Cyclops to move aside. Xavier then uses his telepathic abilities to convince Logan that he can help him uncover his past, revealing that it's been 15 years since Logan lost his memory. Intrigued, Logan expresses interest in learning more about the place.

Xavier elaborates on the school, persuading Logan that it's the ideal place for Rogue. He reveals that the school serves as a front, and the lower levels are entirely different. Xavier takes Logan to the hangar where the X-Men's supersonic jet, the Blackbird, is housed. He recounts his discovery of his telepathic abilities as a child and his meeting with Erik Lensherr, who could manipulate magnetic fields. Believing humanity would never accept them, Erik, who became Magneto, grew disillusioned and hostile.

Xavier offers Logan a deal: 48 hours to understand why Magneto is pursuing him, in exchange for helping Logan recover his lost memories.

Meanwhile, at the X-Mansion, Jean is conducting tests on Logan. He apologizes for his earlier aggression and attempts to flirt with her. Jean responds with a stern look and promptly places him in the scanning machine.

Later that night, Logan appears to have accepted Xavier’s offer for assistance. Jean leads him to his room where he will be staying for the night. He continues to flirt with Jean, expressing jealousy over her relationship with Scott, and jokingly asks if her talent is “putting up with that guy.” Jean reveals that she is telekinetic—able to move objects with her mind. When Logan asks what kind of objects, she demonstrates by closing the closet door with her powers. She also mentions having some telepathic abilities, though not as strong as Xavier's. Logan asks her to read his mind, but she initially hesitates before agreeing and places her hands on his head. She glimpses images of fire and the procedure he underwent, then stops. Logan, eager for information, asks her to share what she saw, but Scott interrupts as he enters. Jean, feeling slightly embarrassed, leaves, and Scott and Logan exchange jabs about Jean and how Scott had to rescue Logan. Scott warns Logan to keep away from Jean.

Later that night, Logan is asleep in his room but is troubled by a nightmare about the adamantium procedure. Rogue enters to wake him, but as he jolts awake, still distressed, he accidentally extends his claws into her chest. Shocked, he retracts them, leaving three wounds in her body. Rogue trembles as he frantically calls for help. She touches his cheek to comfort him. Ororo, Jean, Scott, and some children, including Bobby/Iceman, arrive just in time to see Rogue’s wounds heal and Logan lose consciousness. Jean and Scott rush to help Logan, while Rogue apologizes, saying it was an accident, and leaves the room. The other children, apprehensive, distance themselves from her, though Iceman looks on with concern.

When Logan regains consciousness, Xavier is by his side. Logan asks about Rogue’s condition, and Xavier reassures him that she will be fine. Logan inquires about what happened, and Xavier explains that Rogue’s power involves absorbing energies, including mutant abilities. In Logan’s case, she absorbed his healing factor. Logan expresses that it felt as though she nearly killed him, and Xavier confirms that if Rogue had held on any longer, she might have.

In the underground area, Xavier and Cyclops are discussing Magneto’s motives concerning Wolverine. Xavier senses Scott’s disapproval of Logan. At that moment, Logan and Ororo enter, and Logan inquires about Rogue’s whereabouts. Xavier, after a brief telepathic scan, informs him that Rogue is missing. Shortly afterward, Xavier, Scott, Jean, Ororo, and Logan proceed to a secured room where Xavier introduces Logan to Cerebro. Cerebro is a large, circular room with a bridge leading to the central machine. Xavier explains that Cerebro amplifies his telepathic abilities, enabling him to track mutants over vast distances. This is how he plans to locate Rogue. When Logan asks why Cerebro isn't used to find Magneto, Xavier explains that Magneto has managed to shield himself from Cerebro’s detection. Logan questions how Magneto could accomplish this, and Xavier reveals that Magneto helped him build the device. Xavier then dons the Cerebro helmet, and once the others leave, he begins the search. Outside, Logan inquires if Jean has ever used Cerebro, to which she replies that she hasn’t, as it requires precise control and could be hazardous for someone like her.

Inside Cerebro, Xavier quickly locates Rogue at a train station. Logan starts to leave the mansion to find her, but Xavier stops him, warning that if he leaves, Magneto might capture him. Instead, Xavier sends Cyclops and Storm to retrieve her. In the garage, Scott and Ororo prepare to depart when Scott notices his motorcycle is missing.

On the road, Logan is seen riding Scott’s motorcycle towards the train station. At the station, Rogue is waiting on a train and observes others enjoying human contact, feeling sorrowful that she can no longer experience such touch. Logan arrives and sits beside her. They both apologize for the previous night’s incident, and Logan asks if she’s running away again. Rogue reveals that a boy at the school told her the professor is angry with her.

On the train, Rogue asks Wolverine if he thinks she should return to the mansion. He advises her to trust her instincts. She then shares a painful memory about her first kiss with a boy named David, who ended up in a coma for three weeks because of her powers, and how she still feels him—and Logan—in her mind. Wolverine embraces her through her shirt, encouraging her to stay with Xavier, explaining that Xavier might be one of the few who truly understands her situation and genuinely wants to help. He promises to take care of her and convinces her to give the X-Men another chance.

As the train begins to move, the Brotherhood arrives at the station. The train suddenly stops, the lights go out, and chaos ensues. Wolverine watches in horror as Magneto uses his powers to slice open the train and float inside. Magneto identifies Wolverine by his metal-laden body and uses his powers to lift and torment him while Rogue screams for him to stop. When Logan asks Magneto why he is targeting him, Magneto reveals that Wolverine is not his true target; he is after Rogue. Horrified, Logan watches as Magneto throws him aside and knocks Rogue unconscious with a tranquilizer dart, capturing her. Rogue is then taken to become a part of Magneto’s machine on the Statue of Liberty.

Back at the mansion, Logan is washing his face in frustration, upset with Xavier for misleading him about Magneto's intentions. Xavier apologizes, admitting that Magneto’s helmet blocks his telepathy, which led to the error. Logan, still enraged, decides to find Rogue on his own. Storm tries to persuade him to join their fight for humanity, but Logan refuses, saying he has no interest in helping a world that despises him. He also questions Storm's allegiance, pointing out that Magneto is right about an impending war. Storm replies that at least she has chosen a side. As Logan heads for the door, he encounters Senator Kelly, who is searching for Dr. Jean Grey.

In the underground lab, Senator Kelly lies on a table while Logan and Jean stand nearby. Xavier approaches Kelly, introduces himself, and acknowledges Kelly's fear of being treated like a mutant at a regular hospital. Kelly responds, "Tell that to the ones who did this to me." Xavier asks Kelly to relax and begins reading his mind. He delves into Kelly’s memory of Magneto transforming him into a mutant and Mystique helping him escape from the machine. Magneto appears weakened and exhausted after the procedure.

Later, upstairs, Xavier, Scott, Jean, and Logan discuss the situation. Xavier explains that Magneto uses a machine to produce radiation that induces mutations in ordinary humans. Jean adds that the mutation is unnatural, causing Kelly's cells to break down as his body rejects the change. When Scott inquires about the effects on mutants, Xavier says there will be no impact on them, but the radiation could be harmful to humans. Logan asks about Magneto’s interest in Rogue, and Xavier admits he doesn't know. Frustrated, Logan tries to leave, but Scott realizes the machine’s power source is Magneto himself, and that Magneto needs Rogue to absorb his power to keep the machine operational and sustain his life. Storm interrupts Scott and Logan's argument to announce that Senator Kelly has died. Xavier decides to find Rogue and instructs Scott and Logan to resolve their differences.

Cyclops, Jean, Storm, and Wolverine gather to discuss their plan. They now understand Magneto’s scheme and realize he is unaware that his machine is lethal to humans. They plan to land on Liberty Island and thwart his plans to prevent mass casualties. Logan questions the likelihood of being detected by harbor patrol, but Scott responds that if the patrol can spot them, they deserve to be caught. The team departs in the Blackbird, the X-Men’s jet, with the students watching in awe. Scott pilots the jet, and as they approach the bridge, they land on the water while Storm creates a fog to provide cover.

The Blackbird lands, and the X-Men disembark, spotting the machine atop the Statue of Liberty's torch. As they go through a metal detector, it alarms on Logan, who destroys it with his claws. Cyclops, annoyed, faces Logan, who responds by sheathing his outer claws and leaving the middle one extended, a gesture that Cyclops interprets as a flip-off. Cyclops smiles while Jean rolls her eyes. The team proceeds cautiously through the hall, but Toad and Mystique, members of the Brotherhood, are already lying in wait, concealed.

Logan’s senses detect the presence of the Brotherhood, and he alerts the team, saying, "Keep your eye open," as a jest at Scott's expense. Suddenly, another Wolverine appears and begins to fight Logan. The others struggle to distinguish between the real Wolverine and the imposter. Both Wolverines unsheathe their claws and engage in a fierce battle, causing significant destruction. Eventually, the fake Wolverine, who is actually Mystique in disguise, reveals her true form and manages to outmaneuver Logan.

Later, Storm approaches Logan to confirm his identity. Logan remains silent, uses his sense of smell, and identifies that the imposter is nearby. Storm insists they regroup, but Logan retorts that she isn't part of the group and then unsheathes his claws into her stomach. Mystique morphs back into her true form and collapses. Logan finds Scott and Jean, and Scott demands proof of Logan’s identity. Logan simply replies, "You're a dick," which Scott accepts as sufficient proof.

Storm appears upstairs, and the team follows her. They reach the torch but are soon warned by Logan to leave. Cyclops questions the issue, and Logan explains he is immobilized. Magneto lifts him into the air and pins him to the wall, using metal pieces to restrain the others despite Scott’s efforts to use his optic beams. Cyclops is restrained in a way that his visor points towards Jean’s head, preventing him from using his powers. Magneto descends and manipulates Logan’s hands to prevent him from unsheathing his claws. Sabretooth arrives, removes Cyclops’s visor, and Magneto cautions against sending lightning into the massive copper structure of the torch, highlighting the danger of such an action.

Magneto explains his plans to the X-Men, while Rogue's cries for help echo through the area. Wolverine challenges Magneto, suggesting that if he truly believed in his cause, he would have volunteered for the machine himself. Magneto ascends to the machine as Rogue continues to scream. Logan struggles to free himself, using his claws with great effort, and Jean, alarmed, calls out his name. Sabretooth approaches Logan's restrained form, but Logan leaps at him and drives his claws into Sabretooth’s stomach. Despite sharing Wolverine’s healing factor, Sabretooth and Logan engage in a fierce battle atop the statue's head.

During the fight, Wolverine retrieves his dog tags. Sabretooth throws him off the statue, but Logan manages to cling to it and then jumps back up. He defeats Sabretooth but hears Rogue’s pained cries. Logan falls, using his claws to cling to the wall, narrowly missing Scott and Jean on the other side. Sabretooth, believing Logan is dead, approaches Storm, but Logan reappears, grabbing Cyclops's visor. Jean instructs Scott to open his eyes when she gives the signal. As the torch breaks and the machine activates, Jean telekinetically places the visor on Scott's eyes and shouts, "Now!" Cyclops blasts Sabretooth through the wall and into a boat moored near Liberty Island, freeing Wolverine to rescue the others.

Logan asks Cyclops if he can target the machine, but Scott protests that it would harm Rogue. Cyclops then asks Storm if she can lift him high enough, but she admits she can’t control her power precisely enough. Logan suggests she at least levitate him so Cyclops can still attempt to destroy the machine if necessary. Cyclops agrees and asks Jean to stabilize Logan with her telekinesis. Together, they guide Logan to the top of the machine. As the energy field spreads, Wolverine jumps inside and attempts to cut Rogue free, but Magneto’s powers prevent him from doing so. Cyclops readies his visor to fire, but Jean urges him to wait. The X-Men manage to rescue Rogue before the machine can extend her powers any further. Cyclops seizes the opportunity and blasts Magneto, disabling him. Wolverine, now free, destroys the machine, halting the energy field before it can cause more mutations. He frees Rogue from her chains and holds her, but she is unresponsive and he notices a white streak in her hair. Desperate to save her, he tries to transfer his healing powers to her by touching her cheek. Initially, this doesn’t seem to work, and Logan fears she might be dead. Then, he begins to develop multiple wounds across his face and chest, while Rogue suddenly awakens. Logan collapses, unconscious, with gashes all over him. At the mansion, Logan wakes to find Jean Grey by his side. He inquires about their success, and Jean reveals that Xavier is lying on a nearby table. Later, as Jean checks on Logan and finds his wounds have healed, she tells him that Rogue is okay. Logan tries to express his feelings for Jean, but it’s clear she is devoted to Scott. Logan changes the topic to ask about the professor, and Jean reassures him that Xavier is fine.

Xavier later informs Logan of an abandoned military facility in the Canadian Rockies near where they discovered him, suggesting it might hold answers to his past. He also asks if Logan plans to say goodbye to the children. Rogue spots Logan preparing to leave and rushes to speak with him. Logan tells her he needs to take care of some things in the north, and she expresses her desire for him to stay. He promises he will return and leaves her with his dog tags as a memento. Wolverine then departs the mansion on Cyclops' motorcycle, heading toward Alkali Lake.

X2: X-Men United: The Movie Prequel: Wolverine[edit | edit source]

Logan, while filling up Cyclops' motorcycle, discovers that Sabretooth has been trailing him. They engage in a fight, which ends with Logan victorious. However, he notices that Sabretooth possesses the same dog tags as him. The two then go out for drinks and have a conversation.

Stryker's men arrive with orders to target Sabretooth. The two men fight the soldiers together, displaying impressive teamwork, unaware that they are brothers. Eventually, they are subdued and wake up in a helicopter. In a dramatic turn, Sabretooth throws Logan off the helicopter, sacrificing himself. Later, Stryker learns that the adamantium bonding failed with Sabretooth and orders his men to shoot him with adamantium, killing him. Meanwhile, Logan resumes his search for Alkali Lake.

At Alkali Lake, Logan finds the military compound Professor X mentioned, but it’s now just a demolished site, which disappoints him. He returns to the X-Mansion.

Upon his return, Rogue greets him with a hug and introduces her boyfriend, Bobby (Iceman). Logan and Bobby exchange a handshake, with Bobby giving Logan a light freeze. Logan teases the couple about their physical relationship, and Bobby mentions they’re still working on it.

Ororo (Storm) welcomes Logan and informs him that they need a babysitter because she and Jean are heading to Boston to track a mutant who attacked the President. Logan tries to flirt with Jean, but Scott interrupts, asking if Logan found what he was looking for. Logan confirms and hands Scott the keys to his bike, saying it needs gas. Scott tosses the keys back, suggesting Logan handle it himself before Jean and Storm leave for the Hangar Bay.

In Cerebro, Xavier is preparing to locate the mutant who attacked the President. He instructs Logan to put out his cigar, which Logan does by extinguishing it on his palm. The wound heals quickly. Xavier explains that Cerebro connects him to all living beings, with white lights representing humans and red representing mutants. Logan mentions his search for the Alkali Lake base yielded nothing. Xavier, focusing on Cerebro, notes that the mutant is difficult to track and explains that concentrating harder could kill him.

Xavier leaves Cerebro and tells Logan that reading his mind again would not be helpful; he believes Logan’s past, amnesia, and adamantium skeleton are all connected but suggests that some things need to be discovered on their own. Xavier asks Logan to watch over the students that night while he and Scott visit an old friend.

Later, Wolverine, troubled by nightmares, walks downstairs to find Jones, a student who can change TV channels with his eyes. They chat briefly, and Logan heads to the kitchen where he finds Bobby eating ice cream. Logan looks for beer but is told it's a school, so he settles for soda. Bobby cools the soda with his powers before handing it to Logan. They discuss how long Bobby has been at the mansion and Bobby’s relationship with Rogue, revealing the difficulties of their romance due to his powers.

During their conversation, Logan's heightened senses detect intruders. He signals Bobby to stay quiet and leaves the kitchen, confronting a soldier who almost shoots Bobby. Siryn, arriving on the scene, unleashes a powerful sonic scream that shatters windows and causes chaos throughout the school. The soldier in the kitchen fires wildly, but Bobby manages to duck. In a berserker rage, Logan kills the soldier in front of Bobby and then takes out more soldiers as Bobby makes his way to the elevator to find Rogue.

Logan finds Colossus and hands him the unconscious Jones, instructing him to help the kids. Colossus and Jones head to safety while Logan continues to fight soldiers. He finds Iceman, Rogue, and Pyro, quickly dispatching the soldiers in their path. They escape in an elevator, but Logan leaves to confront more soldiers.

Stryker appears and recognizes Logan, revealing that he knows much about him. Logan, not remembering Stryker, demands answers. Before Stryker can elaborate, ice forms a barrier between them. Rogue and Bobby call for Logan to join them, and despite his desire for answers, he decides to escape with the kids. Stryker bombs the ice barrier, but Logan and the kids make it to the garage. Logan starts Cyclops’s car with his claws, and they drive off as Stryker’s soldiers pursue them through the underground tunnels.

On the road, Pyro asks Logan about the recent events, and Logan reveals that Stryker is involved but he can't recall his connection to him. Pyro starts the CD player, but a communicator pops out instead. Logan suggests heading to Boston, where Storm and Jean are, and Bobby mentions that his parents live there, making it a good place to rest and regroup. Rogue returns Logan's dog tag, which he had given her before leaving for Alkali Lake.

Arriving at the Drake residence in Boston, Bobby finds the house empty and tells John not to cause any trouble. As Logan tries to reach Jean through Scott's communicator, it doesn't work. In the kitchen, Logan grabs a beer and accidentally alarms the Drakes' cat, which isn’t frightened and starts licking his claws. When the Drakes return home, William Drake questions Logan's presence. Bobby introduces Logan as Professor Logan and explains that he has something important to discuss.

In the living room, Bobby reveals his mutation to his family. Pyro plays with his lighter, adding tension. Madeline Drake struggles to discuss Bobby’s mutation, and Pyro finishes her sentence. William Drake expresses confusion and frustration, and Logan, cutting in, mentions he’s a professor of Art. Rogue encourages Bobby to demonstrate his powers, which shocks his mother when he freezes her coffee. Pyro mocks the situation, and Bobby’s brother, Ronny, reacts angrily and leaves the room.

Madeline expresses guilt, but Pyro makes a pointed remark about the mutant gene being passed through males, blaming William. Ronny, upset, calls the police, escalating the situation further.

Logan receives a call on Cyclops' communicator and learns from Jean that the Institute is empty and soldiers have attacked. He informs her that he's in Boston with Bobby Drake's family and urges them to get there quickly. After hanging up, Logan warns the kids that they need to leave immediately.

When they exit, they find the house surrounded by police cars. An officer orders Logan to drop his claws and raise his hands. Bobby realizes his brother Ronny must have called the police. Officers break into the house and order Bobby's parents to stand by the wall. Logan tries to explain the situation but is shot in the forehead by an officer, falling to the ground.

While Logan is unconscious, John (Pyro) almost sets Bobby's house on fire, which Rogue stops using her powers. The fire extinguishes, and Logan’s wound heals itself as the bullet is expelled. The jet then lands in the yard, and the mutants board it, with none of the officers daring to intervene.

On the jet, Wolverine meets the new member of their team, Kurt (Nightcrawler), who introduces himself as a former circus performer known as the incredible Nightcrawler. They take off quickly, with Bobby still reeling from the events involving his family.

On the jet, Jean alerts Wolverine that they are close to the mansion, but they are soon pursued by two military jets. The jets order the X-Men to descend. As Storm tries to evade them, she summons a storm, causing one jet to crash, but the other fires two torpedoes. Jean manages to divert one with telekinesis, but the second hits the jet, creating a hole and causing it to lose altitude.

Rogue is sucked through the hole and falls, but Nightcrawler teleports to her and saves her. The jet continues to fall until the hole mysteriously closes and the jet stops just above the ground. Magneto and Mystique appear and humorously comment on the jet's flying skills.

That night, the mutants set up a camp. Magneto reveals that Colonel William Stryker attacked the mansion to steal or replicate Cerebro, which could be used to locate and potentially kill all mutants. Jean and Storm worry about the catastrophic implications, realizing that if Stryker can force Xavier to use Cerebro to target mutants, it could mean disaster. Magneto explains that Stryker has strong methods of persuasion and that Wolverine’s adamantium skeleton was created by Stryker. Wolverine is upset that Xavier didn’t inform him, but Magneto mentions that Xavier believed Logan would discover it on his own.

Magneto then reveals that Mystique has located Stryker’s base, where he’s building a second Cerebro. However, they don’t know its location, and Magneto believes Nightcrawler might have the information they need. Nightcrawler is seen sitting on a branch, indicating he might hold the key to finding the base.

In the aftermath of the jet’s attack, Jean uses her telepathy to scan Nightcrawler’s mind and discovers disturbing images, including an operation similar to those seen in Wolverine's past. She concludes that Stryker is at Alkali Lake, but Logan insists that the location is deserted. Jean clarifies that the base is underground.

Later, Logan and Jean share a moment alone. Jean expresses her worry for Scott and acknowledges Logan’s display of power, but she emphasizes that she loves Scott and isn’t interested in a relationship with Logan. Despite Logan’s advances, she remains firm, asking him not to make things difficult, and leaves.

Nightcrawler, curious, asks Mystique about her shapeshifting abilities. Mystique confirms she is a shapeshifter but prefers her natural form when possible. Logan, looking at his dog tag, is confronted by Mystique who shifts into Jean and kisses him. Realizing something is off, Logan notices the scars he inflicted on Mystique. Mystique taunts him, shifting through several forms, including Jean, Rogue, and Ororo, before ultimately transforming into Stryker and leaving.

The next morning, the mutants board the jet, don their uniforms, and head to the mission. The younger mutants complain about not having uniforms yet, and Logan humorously tells them they’ll get theirs in a few years.

In the jet, the X-Men plan their infiltration of Stryker’s base using a holographic map. They identify the risk of flooding from the spillway if they go inside. Storm asks Nightcrawler if he can teleport them in, but he needs to see where he's teleporting to avoid materializing inside a wall. Wolverine volunteers, believing Stryker wants him alive. Magneto emphasizes that the person entering needs to understand the base's operations, looking at Mystique.

At Alkali Lake, Jean confirms that Stryker’s base is underground. Mystique, disguised as Wolverine, infiltrates the base and tricks Stryker’s troops into opening a gateway for the X-Men. In the Control Room, Mystique observes the mutants breaching the base through explosions, not the soldiers as initially believed. She provides the team with a map showing the location of Cerebro.

Logan, separated from the others, descends into a room that triggers his traumatic memories. He finds a green liquid-filled tube, similar to what he experienced during his adamantium bonding procedure. Around the room are x-ray images and evidence of past operations. He discovers a pool of liquid adamantium and flashes back to his painful operation and his first sight of his claws. As he processes these memories, Stryker and Lady Deathstrike arrive. Stryker explains the need to keep adamantium molten and reveals his belief that Logan was not unique—hinting at further plans or experiments

Logan pursues Stryker but is intercepted by Yuriko (Lady Deathstrike), who has adamantium claws of her own. They engage in a fierce battle, with Yuriko initially overpowering Logan. Despite her healing factor, Logan manages to inflict significant damage before she throws him onto a suspended iron platform. He uses his claws to cut the platform’s supports, causing it to fall on her and trap her in the adamantium liquid.

While recovering, Logan is attacked again by Yuriko but manages to inject her with molten adamantium using a needle. She becomes immobilized and ultimately succumbs as the metal hardens in her body, leaving Logan horrified but relieved.

Outside, Stryker attempts to take off in a helicopter. Logan confronts him, blaming Stryker for his experiments and demanding answers. Stryker dismisses Logan as a failed experiment and reveals that he was merely an animal before the procedure. As the dam begins to flood due to Stryker’s actions, he offers Logan a chance to escape with him, claiming they are survivors. Logan rejects the offer, asserting that if they are to die, they will do so together. He then stabs Stryker in the neck, ties him to the helicopter, and returns to the base to find a way out.

As the dam continues to collapse, Logan rescues Cyclops and Professor X before leading the mutants to safety. They attempt to escape through the spillway but find the route blocked by flooding water. Logan redirects them through an alternate path to safety.

Outside, the mutants escape to the snow-covered ground, only to find that Magneto has taken the helicopter. Rogue, piloting the jet, makes an emergency landing after a chaotic flight. The team boards the jet, with Kurt teleporting Xavier inside. Logan, carrying Artie, heads into the woods where he confronts Stryker, who is chained to a concrete wall.

Stryker taunts Logan about having the answers and questions who really holds the key to his plans. Logan drops the dog tags Stryker made for him and leaves Stryker to die as the dam collapses. Stryker shouts a final threat about someone finishing his work in the future. Artie responds by sticking out his tongue as Logan and Artie leave, marking the end of Stryker’s immediate threat.

Inside the jet, Wolverine hands Artie to Bobby. Jean reassures him that she's fine, but the team soon realizes the jet is losing power and cannot take off. Rogue notices John is missing, and Jean telepathically confirms he’s with Magneto, which upsets everyone.

As the dam bursts again, Jean decides to act. She leaves the jet unnoticed, but Xavier alerts the team. Scott and Logan rush to the exit, but Jean telekinetically seals the door and starts the jet. Jean uses her telekinesis to hold back the floodwater and free the jet from the snow. Despite Scott’s desperate pleas, Jean tells Xavier through telepathy that she knows what she’s doing and this is the only way.

Jean manages to lift the jet into the air but sacrifices herself by letting the floodwater overwhelm her. As the jet flies away, Scott and the team are devastated by her loss. The scene ends with the jet soaring above the now-flooded area, mourning the tragic sacrifice Jean made for their survival.

In Washington, the X-Men infiltrate President McKenna's office with Professor X using his powers to freeze everyone in the room. The atmosphere is tense as the sky darkens and lightning illuminates the scene. The president is frightened to see Nightcrawler among the mutants. Xavier introduces himself and his team, reassuring the president that they mean no harm.

Xavier explains that the documents on the desk were taken from William Stryker’s private office, and he reveals that they know a little girl who can walk through walls—hinting at how they obtained the documents. The president is skeptical, claiming he hasn't seen this information before. Xavier tells him that their visit is not a threat but an opportunity to avoid repeating past mistakes and to work together for a better future. He emphasizes that the mutants are here to stay and that the president’s next move will be crucial.

As lightning strikes and the mutants' faces are briefly illuminated, Wolverine asserts that they'll be watching. The X-Men then vanish as the lights turn back on, leaving the president in silence and unsure of how to respond to the media.

In Xavier's study, Scott gazes out the window, grappling with grief over Jean's sacrifice. Xavier reflects on Jean's struggle with her powers and her fear of being left behind. Scott, his voice choked with emotion, questions if they could have done more to save her. Xavier acknowledges that Jean's decision to sacrifice herself was ultimately her own choice, and in the past, she might have hesitated.

As students, including Artie, Jones, Bobby, Moonstar, and Jubilee, enter the classroom, Logan and Scott leave. Logan tells Scott that Jean's choice was made in the end, not just by her but also by Scott. Scott, still in pain, walks away, finding little solace in Logan's words.

X-Men The Land Stand[edit | edit source]

The X-Men and students engage in a chaotic battle. Buildings are in flames, and students are struggling amid the devastation. Storm flies to avoid enemy fire, while Rogue and Colossus narrowly escape a falling rock thanks to Peter's steel form. Logan, disappointed by the students' lack of readiness, urges them to follow him.

Logan lights a cigar with a burning log but loses it when Storm pushes him out of harm's way. The group faces an imminent threat from the sky, and Logan decides to take aggressive action. He has Colossus throw him at the enemy, resulting in the destruction of a Sentinel head. After the battle, Logan dismisses the students and praises Colossus for his throw.

Storm confronts Logan, upset about his disregard for her defensive exercise and the rules. Logan argues that offense is just as important, and if she has concerns, she should speak with Scott.

In the hallway, Scott, who has been avoiding his duties, brushes off Logan’s attempts to discuss the matter. Logan suggests moving on from Jean's death, but Scott, still grieving, walks away, saying that not everyone heals as quickly as Logan.

Later, when Beast arrives at Xavier's Mansion and reunites with Storm and Professor X, Logan walks in and sarcastically asks, "Who's the furball?" Hank introduces himself as Secretary of Mutant Affairs, and Logan comments on his suit. Xavier then introduces Logan to Hank, who is already familiar with Wolverine.

Storm expresses concern about Magneto coming for Mystique, but Beast reveals a more pressing issue: a major pharmaceutical company has developed a "cure" that can suppress the mutant X-gene permanently. The revelation shocks everyone. Storm is upset by the idea of a "cure," questioning why being a mutant is seen as something that needs curing.

In another room, Storm questions who would want such a cure, implying it would be an act of cowardice to take it. Beast defends the idea, arguing that not all mutants have the luxury of fitting in easily. Logan suspects government involvement but is assured by Hank that the government is not behind it. Rogue then arrives, demanding to know if the cure is real. Xavier confirms its existence, but Storm and Rogue refuse to accept that there is anything wrong with being a mutant.

At Xavier's School, the professor senses Cyclops' distress and telepathically calls out Scott's name. Wolverine and Storm, alarmed, rush to Xavier's office, where Xavier tells them to head to Alkali Lake immediately.

At Alkali Lake, Wolverine and Storm land in the Blackbird and disembark into the heavy fog. Unable to see clearly, Storm uses her powers to dissipate the fog, revealing a floating debris field. Logan finds Scott's ruby glasses among the debris and, alarmed, rushes to Storm's scream. He discovers Storm near Jean Grey's unconscious body, which is miraculously still alive.

Later in the school's infirmary, Professor X explains to Wolverine that the intense water pressure at Alkali Lake should have killed Jean. Her survival is attributed to her telekinetic powers creating a protective cocoon. Xavier reveals that Jean is a Class 5 mutant with nearly limitless potential, and her powers are deeply embedded in her unconscious mind. He elaborates that Jean developed a dual personality: the conscious Jean and a dormant entity known as "The Phoenix."

Wolverine questions whether Jean was aware of this, and Xavier admits that it's uncertain. The more pressing concern is whether Jean or The Phoenix is in control. Xavier is working to restore psychic barriers to contain The Phoenix. Wolverine is troubled, arguing that Xavier's actions may be harmful and questioning whether Jean had any choice in this matter. Xavier insists he had to make a difficult choice, but Wolverine is frustrated by the lack of agency given to Jean. Xavier, feeling justified in his actions, continues working on Jean's mind while Wolverine storms out in anger.

In the school's infirmary, Logan stands by Jean's side as she is connected to a mental helmet that monitors her brain activity. Jean suddenly awakens, removing the helmet with her telekinesis and making contact with Logan. As they reconnect, she expresses that she's more than okay and begins to kiss him. However, her demeanor quickly shifts to something more intense, causing unexplained wounds to appear on Logan's body. He is in visible pain and realizes something is wrong when Jean's expression becomes forceful and her actions increasingly harmful.

Logan tries to reassure Jean and suggests she take it easy, mentioning that Professor X warned she might be different. Jean coldly responds, implying Xavier's invasive influence. Concerned for Cyclops, Logan asks where Scott is. For a moment, Jean appears to regain her normal self, asking where she is and showing confusion about Scott's whereabouts. Logan shows her Scott's glasses, prompting Jean to remember seeing Scott after emerging from the water. As she recalls, the room starts shaking violently, and the glasses break in Logan's hand, signaling Jean's unstable state and powerful telekinetic abilities.

In the infirmary, as the room shakes violently, Jean struggles with her dual personalities. She begs Logan to kill her before she harms anyone, but he reassures her that Professor X can help. Despite his attempts, Jean's Phoenix side rejects the idea, forcefully tossing Logan against the wall and leaving the room.

Storm and Professor X arrive to find Logan unconscious. After waking him, Logan tells them he believes Jean has killed Scott. Xavier, alarmed, tries to telepathically locate Jean but finds her trying to block him out, indicating she may be beyond help.

The scene shifts to outside the Grey residence, where Xavier arrives with Magneto. Xavier intends to speak with Jean alone, while Magneto, having similar intentions, appears unexpectedly. He and Xavier head inside, leaving Wolverine and Storm outside. Logan, eager to intervene, is stopped by Storm, who reminds him of the professor’s instructions to wait.

As Logan attempts to break into the Grey residence, he faces off with Juggernaut. Despite his best efforts, Juggernaut overpowers Wolverine, tossing him through the front window and into the dining room. Inside, Juggernaut and Callisto wreak havoc, demolishing the house while Wolverine struggles to keep up.

Wolverine uses his claws to maneuver around the house, trying to resist Jean's telekinesis. He manages to get to the door just in time to witness a shocking scene: Xavier's body being manipulated by Jean's telekinetic powers. In a brief, poignant moment of silence, Xavier tells Jean to not let her powers control her. Then, in a dramatic and devastating turn, Xavier's body disintegrates, leaving both Logan and Magneto in stunned disbelief.

As Ororo Munroe delivers the eulogy for Charles Xavier, Logan stands apart from the crowd, mourning privately. Ororo's words reflect on Xavier's unfulfilled mission and the impact he had as a leader and friend. The students and friends of Xavier listen intently, moved by her tribute. As the service concludes, Logan walks away from the memorial, consumed by his grief. The crowd places flowers on the memorial, symbolizing their respect and the enduring legacy of their beloved mentor.

Rogue, feeling frustrated with her inability to physically connect with her boyfriend, decides to leave. Logan offers her a lift and a chance to talk. As Rogue expresses her desire to be able to touch and connect with people, Logan reveals he understands her struggles with powers. He supports her decision to leave if it's what she truly wants, and she appreciates his understanding.

Meanwhile, at the school, the remaining X-Men debate the future of the institution. Beast suggests closing it down, but Iceman argues for keeping it open. The discussion is interrupted by Warren Worthington III (Angel), who seeks refuge at the school. Despite the recent losses, Ororo insists the school will stay open to support mutants, much to Iceman's relief.

Outside at Xavier's memorial, Logan is disturbed by Jean's voice echoing in his mind. The intensity of the experience overwhelms him, leaving him in pain and confusion as he looks up at Xavier's memorial, sensing a lingering connection to Jean.

Logan's search for Jean leads him to the Brotherhood's camp. Despite Storm's warnings and the weight of his past with Jean, Logan remains determined to find her. He uses his enhanced senses to track the Brotherhood's location and approaches stealthily.

When Logan gets close, he's ambushed by Spike, a Brotherhood member with the ability to shoot spikes. Despite being injured, Logan fights back with his claws and agility, evading Spike's attacks. He manages to hit Spike with one of his own spikes, but realizes that more Brotherhood members are on their way. Logan prepares for further confrontation, knowing he has to act quickly to find Jean.

In the Brotherhood's camp, Magneto delivers a passionate speech rallying his followers. He denounces the human effort to cure mutants and declares that mutants are the true cure for humanity's flaws. Magneto plans to attack Alcatraz Island, where the "cure" is produced, to seize control of it and then destroy it, ensuring that no one can use it against mutants.

Logan, blending in with the crowd in a stolen cloak, listens to Magneto's plan. Determined to stop him, Logan prepares to act. He knows the stakes are high and that he must prevent Magneto's plan from succeeding to protect both mutants and humans from the coming chaos

Phoenix, spotting Wolverine in the crowd, glances at him before Magneto intervenes. Magneto throws Logan into a tree, injuring him, and asserts that Wolverine’s adamantium scent is unmistakable. Wolverine insists he came for Jean, not to fight Magneto. Magneto reveals that Jean is with him by choice and uses his powers to lift Wolverine into the air. Wolverine argues that Magneto doesn’t understand what he’s dealing with, but Magneto dismisses this, citing Jean's attack on Charles Xavier. Despite Logan’s insistence that he won’t leave without Jean, Magneto uses his powers to fling him away. Logan crashes into a tall tree and falls to the ground, wounded.

The X-Men quickly mobilize after Wolverine's urgent warning about Magneto's plan. Beast and Wolverine, now in uniform, meet with Storm, Iceman, Kitty, and Colossus in the mansion's tunnels. Logan stresses the urgency of stopping Magneto from seizing the cure, despite the Brotherhood’s overwhelming numbers. He inspires the young X-Men to fight for what they believe in, despite their losses.

As they board the Blackbird, Storm and Wolverine prepare for the confrontation ahead. The Blackbird approaches San Francisco, where the battle is already in full swing. The X-Men land on the roof of Alcatraz Island, facing a scene of chaos and destruction.

Storm and Beast lead the charge from the roof, with Iceman and Kitty phasing into the ground to avoid enemy fire. Colossus and Wolverine follow suit, with Wolverine using his claws to control his descent. They regroup and form a defensive line, prepared for the intense battle against Magneto and the Brotherhood.

As the battle rages on, Magneto's army relentlessly attacks the X-Men. Logan and Beast fight fiercely, with Wolverine cutting down Brotherhood members and using environmental objects like a fallen light pole to their advantage. Beast, despite his diplomatic demeanor, matches Wolverine's intensity with his own brute force.

Meanwhile, Juggernaut charges towards the building to find and kill the boy. Kitty Pryde phases through obstacles to intercept him. The X-Men work in tandem, with Kitty trying to prevent Juggernaut from reaching his target.

Logan encounters Starfish, a mutant with regenerative abilities. Despite Starfish's rapid healing, Wolverine manages to subdue him by targeting his weak spot. With a smirk, Logan continues the fight.

Beast and Wolverine's combined fury overwhelms the Brotherhood, with Beast emphasizing that sometimes action speaks louder than words. In the midst of the chaotic battle, Magneto uses his magnetic powers to hurl flaming cars, with Pyro igniting them along the way. The explosions create a devastating scene, forcing everyone to seek cover. Wolverine advises the X-Men to take cover and plan their next move amid the wreckage. Storm and Wolverine find shelter behind a column, while Bobby uses his ice powers to freeze and extinguish one of the cars before it can explode. Logan then asks Storm for cover, and she creates a dense fog, obscuring the view of Magneto and Phoenix on the hill.

With the fog providing a tactical advantage, Wolverine prepares for the next phase of their plan, relying on Storm's fog to mask their movements and gain the upper hand against their opponents.

In the midst of the battle, Wolverine manages to spot Magneto through the fog and signals Colossus to assist. Colossus grabs Wolverine and throws him towards Magneto, but Magneto uses his powers to stop Wolverine mid-air, causing him to land on the ground. As Wolverine lies on his back, Magneto taunts him, but Wolverine responds that he has learned.

Beast seizes the opportunity and injects Magneto with the cure, rendering him human and incapacitating him. Magneto, now powerless, protests to Jean about the fate the X-Men and humanity want for mutants.

As Wolverine tries to reason with Jean, soldiers use the moment to fire cure guns at her. Jean, however, deflects the shots and reacts with increased fury, unleashing a telekinetic storm. Beast urges everyone to evacuate, and the X-Men scramble to escape. Erik, horrified by the chaos, joins the fleeing crowd.

Storm approaches Wolverine, who insists that he alone can stop Jean. He orders her to evacuate the others and flies off to save everyone. Wolverine, devastated, tries to reach Jean, but she remains unresponsive as the destruction intensifies around them.

In the aftermath of the battle, Wolverine fights through the chaos and destruction to reach Phoenix. Despite her telekinetic barriers, he manages to confront her and expresses his willingness to die not for the cause but for her. The brief resurgence of Jean's personality allows her to plead for salvation, and Wolverine, heartbroken, fulfills her request by killing her with his claws. As Jean dies in his arms, he is left devastated.

The following day, Logan watches a TV broadcast where the president introduces Dr. Hank McCoy as the new ambassador to the United Nations. Logan, though pained, acknowledges Hank’s achievement. He then steps outside to see the school he and Storm are now responsible for, ready to lead and carry on the legacy of the X-Men.

The Wolverine[edit | edit source]

After 2006, Logan returns to the Canadian wilderness, attempting to live a quiet life while grappling with the guilt of Jean Grey's death and the trauma from his past. He only leaves the forest for essential supplies. Following a bar fight, Yukio tracks him down and brings him to Japan to meet Yashida, the head of the Yashida Corporation and a man Logan saved during the Nagasaki bombing.

Yashida offers to transfer Logan's immortality to himself as he is dying of cancer. When Logan refuses, he encounters Yashida's son, Shingen, and his granddaughter, Mariko, whom he later saves from a suicide attempt.

That night, while dreaming of Jean, Logan is injected with a robotic parasite by Viper, which impairs his healing abilities. The next morning, he attends Yashida's funeral, where he protects Mariko from Yakuza assassins with the help of Kenuichio Harada. During the confrontation, Logan discovers that his healing factor is not working as effectively as it used to.

After getting Mariko to safety, Logan follows her onto a bullet train, where he fights and defeats more Yakuza assassins. They then take refuge in a local motel, where Logan stands guard outside in the rain while Mariko sleeps. Exhausted and injured, he passes out from his wounds and has a hallucination of Jean. When he wakes, Mariko has found a veterinarian to treat his injuries.

Logan and Mariko later hide in Yashida's house in southern Japan. As they grow closer, Logan shares details about his past, including his experiences in war and his relationship with Jean. Yukio has a vision of Logan's death, foreseeing him with his heart in his hand, but she is unable to warn him in time.

Mariko is captured by the Yakuza, who reveal that they were hired by her corrupt fiancé, Chief of Justice Noburo Mori. Logan and Yukio confront Noburo at his luxury apartment, where Noburo discloses that Shingen was originally behind the kidnapping. However, Shingen's plans were thwarted when Logan intervened, leading to Shingen's fall into a pool.

At Yashida's home in Tokyo, Wolverine discovers the parasite attached to his heart and begins to extract it. Shingen arrives and fights Wolverine, but dies in the process, restoring Logan’s healing ability. Wolverine, now fully healed, kills Shingen.

Wolverine and Yukio then track Harada and Viper to the Yashida Research Center in northern Japan to rescue Mariko. At the center, Wolverine faces attacks from Harada and the Yashida family's ninja clan. Viper places Wolverine in a machine designed to extract his immortality and introduces her associate, the Silver Samurai, who can cut through Wolverine’s adamantium claws.

Mariko escapes from Harada and directs the machine towards the Silver Samurai, which shatters when hit by the Samurai's sword, freeing Wolverine. The Silver Samurai, revealed to be Yashida, drills through Wolverine's adamantium claws and successfully extracts his immortality. Mariko stabs Yashida, causing him to fall to his death. As Wolverine’s bone claws regrow, he has a final hallucination of Jean before passing out.

Logan bids farewell to Mariko, who has taken over as CEO of the Yashida Corporation. He then boards a plane with Yukio, who remains his bodyguard. As Yukio suggests that they can go anywhere they want, they depart for an unknown destination.

Two years later, in 2015, Logan encounters Magneto and Charles Xavier at an airport. They inform him about a new threat aiming to eradicate all mutants. Between 2015 and 2023, Logan's bone claws were once again coated in adamantium, likely with Magneto's assistance.

Days of Future Past[edit | edit source]

Eight years later, Wolverine, Storm, Professor X, and Magneto travel to China, where they plan to send Wolverine back to 1973 to prevent Mystique from killing Bolivar Trask, an event that initiated the Sentinel Program. Wolverine is chosen for this mission due to his healing abilities, which make him the only one capable of surviving the physical and mental strain of the time travel. Shadowcat sends Wolverine back to his younger self in 1973.

Wolverine awakens next to a woman and immediately faces an attack from three men, whom he kills. He then seeks out Professor X. At the X-Mansion, he has a tense encounter with Hank McCoy but eventually convinces Charles to help. They plan to break Magneto out of prison, where he is held for killing President John F. Kennedy.

The team, consisting of Charles, Wolverine, Quicksilver, and Hank, infiltrates the Pentagon and successfully frees Erik.

While pursuing Mystique, Wolverine encounters William Stryker, which triggers traumatic flashbacks. In 2023, he begins shaking violently and accidentally slashes Shadowcat with his claws. Back in 1973, Wolverine momentarily forgets his mission and who Charles Xavier is. When Charles is unable to use Cerebro, Wolverine suggests using his mind as a "bridge" to connect with his future self, allowing the two Charles Xaviers to communicate through him. This interaction reinvigorates the past Charles, enabling him to use Cerebro again.

At the Sentinel unveiling, the Sentinels attack the public. Magneto lifts an entire stadium and uses it to surround the White House. He places one Sentinel on lookout while sending the others to hunt Wolverine and Beast. Magneto stabs Wolverine with steel reinforcement and drowns him in a river. Despite his incapacitation, Wolverine's actions lead to the past Charles Xavier making crucial changes, which alter the future. In 2023, the Sentinels are about to fire upon the X-Men but vanish as Shadowcat breaks the connection, making Wolverine's changes to the timeline effective.

In the altered timeline, Wolverine wakes up at the Xavier Institute and is surprised to find himself back in the present day, surrounded by Storm, Shadowcat, Rogue, Iceman, Colossus, Beast, Professor X, and, to his shock, Cyclops and Jean Grey, who are both alive. Wolverine visits Professor X, revealing that he has just returned from time traveling and doesn't remember the details of the new timeline. Professor X, delighted, tells him they have a lot to catch up on.

Logan[edit | edit source]

In 2028, Charles Xavier would develop Alzheimer's and experience a massive seizure that injured six hundred people and resulted in the deaths of several X-Men members. Logan would take Charles to a location in Mexico near the U.S. border and seek assistance from Caliban to help care for him.

In 2029, Logan, now working as a limo driver under his birth name James Howlett, dreams of saving enough money to buy a boat for himself, Charles Xavier, and Caliban so they can escape to sea and avoid the dangers of Charles’ seizures. Logan is initially approached by Gabriela, a nurse from Transigen, who asks him to escort her and an 11-year-old girl named Laura to a place called Eden in North Dakota. Logan later encounters Donald Pierce, Transigen's cybernetically-enhanced chief of security, who offers him a job to find Gabriela and Laura, which Logan declines. After Gabriela is murdered, Logan reluctantly takes on the job to find Laura, only to uncover the truth about Transigen’s "X-23" and "X-24" projects, learning that Laura is his biological daughter, created using his DNA from his escape from Alkali Lake in 1983.

The group decides to stay at a hotel in Oklahoma City. Logan discovers that Eden is not a real place but a fictional location referenced in an X-Men comic book Laura had. While Logan is out, the Reavers find their location, and Xavier suffers another seizure, using a psychic blast to freeze everyone in the hotel. Logan fights through the Reavers, kills several, and injects Xavier with a suppressant before they leave the city, resulting in hundreds of injuries and numerous deaths.

The trio is then sheltered by a local family, the Munsons, after Logan helps them round up their horses during a highway incident. When a pipe bursts on the Munson property, Logan and Will Munson go to fix it, where Logan drives off some harassers. During their absence, X-24, a feral clone of Wolverine with a weaker adamantium skeleton and no healing factor, fatally wounds Xavier by stabbing him through the chest and kills Will's wife and son. When Logan and Will return, Will is mortally injured, and X-24 has captured Laura. Logan finds the dying Xavier, who passes away shortly after.

Logan battles X-24 but struggles against his clone's brutality. Caliban sacrifices himself, setting off two grenades in the van to give Laura and Logan a chance to escape. Will Munson appears and impales X-24 with a combine harvester, shooting him in the head with a shotgun before succumbing to his injuries, allowing Logan and Laura to escape.

After burying Xavier, Logan, emotionally shattered, passes out and wakes up in a clinic where the doctor urges him to get treatment, but he refuses. Laura persuades Logan to take her to Eden, despite his doubts. After a heated argument, Logan agrees to show her that Eden is a myth. On their journey, Laura convinces Logan to rest, and she drives them the rest of the way to Eden.

Logan and Laura arrive at Eden, a safe haven run by Rictor and the other escaped Transigen test subjects. Exhausted, Logan is put to bed by the children. He wakes from a nightmare, and Laura asks if he had one too, acknowledging that people hurt each other. Laura reveals a bullet she found in his shirt, made of adamantium, which Logan realizes might be contributing to his condition. He asks her to hold onto it for him.

The next morning, Laura and the children trim Logan's beard, and he’s greeted with their laughter when he sees his new look in the mirror. Logan learns that the children plan to journey to the Canadian border and decides to entrust Laura to them. However, the Reavers capture the children during their journey. To save them, Logan decides to use a serum left by Rictor to restore his healing factor. The serum rapidly heals his past injuries but has dangerous side effects once it wears off.

Logan fights through the Reavers to reach the children. He encounters Zander Rice, head of the Transigen project, who reveals that the project created a virus to control and weaponize the mutant population. He also mentions Logan's involvement in killing his father during his escape from Weapon X at Alkali Lake. Logan kills Rice and faces X-24, while the children defeat the remaining Reavers. Rictor uses his seismic powers to lift and slam an armored truck onto X-24, aiding Logan and Laura in their fight.

X-24 manages to lift the truck off himself and fatally impales Logan on a tree stump. Laura, using the adamantium bullet Logan had kept for himself, kills X-24. As Logan lies dying, he tells Laura to avoid becoming the weapon Transigen intended her to be. He dies in her arms. Laura and the children mourn his passing and bury him in Canada, his birthplace.

At Logan's grave, Laura quotes lines from the film Shane: "A man has to be what he is, Joey. Can't break the mold. There's no living with the killing. There's no going back. Right or wrong, it's a brand. A brand that sticks. Now you run on home to your mother... you tell her everything's alright. There are no more guns in the valley." After paying her respects, Laura and Rictor lead the children away, continuing their journey to safety. Laura adjusts the cross on Logan's grave to form an "X," honoring her father as both an X-Man and the Wolverine. His sacrifice ensures that the mutant race will have a future once more.

Deadpool 2[edit | edit source]

In the modern day, Deadpool travels back to the Three Mile Island Incident and kills the alternate Deadpool created by William Stryker. He notifies Wolverine to return to action if needed, despite Wolverine's future retirement. Wolverine, although confused, agrees.

Later, Deadpool discovers from the Time Variance Authority (TVA) that Wolverine is the "anchor being" of his timeline, and with Wolverine dead, their timeline is deteriorating. Deadpool tries to revive the original Wolverine by digging up his corpse but finds it fully decomposed to an adamantium skeleton. Using parts of Wolverine's remains, including his claws, Deadpool fights off and massacres attacking TVA agents. Since his timeline's Wolverine is permanently deceased, Deadpool seeks an alternate version of Wolverine to replace the one who died.

Deadpool and Wolverine[edit | edit source]

Deadpool discovers from the Time Variance Authority (TVA) that Wolverine is the "anchor being" of his timeline, and with Wolverine dead, their timeline is deteriorating.

Tier: High 8-C, Low 7-B with Adamantium claws

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant, Weapon Mastery, Vehicular Mastery, Rage Power, Stealth Mastery, Regeneration (Low-Mid: healed from being shot in the head multiple times with adamantium bullets, and though this caused him to suffer from amnesia, he was eventually able to gain back his memories upon his return to Alkali Lake. Also withstood his mind being torn apart due to going back in time countless times), Longevity, Body Control and Bodily Weaponry (Possesses a pair of three 12-inch retractable claws in each forearm, while they were originally made of bone, like the rest of his skeletal structure, they were surgically bonded with Adamantium), Enhanced Senses (Sensed Sabretooth before he attacked by smelling him. Sensed Mystique disguised as a statue but couldn't locate her exactly, later he sensed her shapeshifted as Storm by smelling her. Heard a conversation while he was inside a water tank. His senses are more acute than any hunting predator's: can see clearly in near complete darkness and follow trails that bloodhounds are incapable of picking up. Was able to track traps by smelling the mutants that laid them beforehand and see where they'd covered their tracks), possibly Reactive Evolution (The damage he takes acts as an amplifier for his abilities:the more damage he takes, the more efficiently his body regenerates, making him stronger in the process), Resistance to Mind Manipulation (Resisted Xavier's seizures, which were responsible for hundreds of deaths within a large area and was noted to be on par with weapons of mass destruction), Extreme Temperatures (Has no problems swimming in sub-arctic waters or withstanding the heat of a nuclear explosion), Radiation Manipulation (Took a tiny but nevertheless lethal portion of the nuclear explosion that levelled Hiroshima. Survived being bombarded with lethal levels of radiation comparable to a thermonuclear blast by Jean Grey), Toxins (Unaffected by tranquilzers or alcohol, or by the Adamantium that constantly keeps poisoning him), Power Absorption (Adamantium got in the way when Jean Grey attempted to gain access to his healing power), Diseases, Matter Manipulation and Deconstruction (Adamantium possesses the tightest molecular bond of any conceivable substance, which was partly what saved him from being discorporated like everything else by Jean Grey, though she was holding back, and eventually he was going to be deconstructed with time and will)

Attack Potency: Large Building level (Capable of trading blows with other comparable enemies and those who can harm him. Overpowered Weapon XI's Optic Blast. Traded blows with Deadpool and can harm Sabretooth with his blows and could injure the latter even without his adamantium skeleton. Traded blows with and overpowered Gambit), Small City level with Adamantium claws (Pierced and killed Phoenix Jean Grey. Adamantium can clash with Adamantium)

Speed: Superhuman travel speed (Wolverine is able to run over 60 mph (96.56 km/h) and move with reflexes unobtainable by normal human beings. When sensing Victor was near and going after Kayla, he was able to leave from his job site and reach her car within minutes) with Hypersonic reactions and combat speed (Kept up with Deadpool, who can slice bullets). Subsonic+ to Supersonic+ attack speed with firearms. Sub-Relavistic reaction speed (He reacts to Weapon XI's Optic Blast)

Lifting Strength: At least Class 25, possibly Class 50 (Comparable to and wrestled with X-24, who is essentially Wolverine at his peak with a weaker adamantium skeleton, who violently moved a BAE Caiman while lifting half of it, which has a weight of 27,600 kg. Easily wrestled with Sabretooth, who can lift gigantic logs and snap necks with little effort)

Striking Strength: Large Building level, Small City level with his Adamantium claws

Durability: Large Building level (Withstood blows from Beast. Survived a tiny but potent portion of the nuclear explosion that levelled Nagasaki. Survived being tackled through a giant wooden door by Sabretooth, and moments later, he tanked a fully-loaded 18-wheeler ramming him at top speed when he had only his normal bone skeleton. Jumped from a nuclear tower and cratered the ground, and was completely fine. Survived being slammed through a wall by Gambit and can easily knock him out with a casual elbow. Can consistently take hits from Weapon XI and Sabretooth, and has taken blows from the latter before obtaining his adamantium skeleton. X-24, a clone of him with a weaker adamantium skeleton, survived being hit by a truck), Small City level with Adamantium skeleton (Adamantium possesses the tightest molecular bond of any conceivable substance]]. Adamantium can clash with Adamantium)

Stamina: Superhuman (Has gone through several decades of warfare without food or rest. Takes much more punishment than most other comparable mutants, and can even take the load of going back entire timelines and still consistently regenerate from having his mind torn apart, and even manage to remain underwater for several days with a single breath, such as when Mystique rescued him with the disguise of William Stryker a few days after the attack on the White House. Even in old age while suffering multitudes of ailments, he survived being shot in the chest with a shotgun at point-blank and then receiving multiple blows to the head from wrenches, only to get back up in a frenzy and brutally murder his assailants)

Range: Standard Melee Range, Extended Melee Range with Adamantium claws, Hundreds of Meters with firearms

Standard Equipment: Adamantium claws and skeleton, an Adamantium bullet (Which he kept with him in case he considered taking his own life)

Intelligence: Thanks to his longevity, Wolverine has had the experience of nearly every single major war and conflict from the latter half of the 19th century and onwards, and as such, has mastered the use of various forms of unarmed combat and can use virtually every single weapon in existence. He is also skilled in driving various types of vehicles, including bikes, cars, and planes.

Weaknesses: Adamantium Weapons can pierce his skeleton (but only when superheated), magnetism (Most notably from Magneto). Can be killed by drowning. Breaking his claws causes him immense pain, as they are parts of his body. Suffered from amnesia after being shot in the head multiple times with adamantium bullets, though he was eventually able to regain all of his memories back after returning to Alkali Lake's secret lab. He can't regenerate from being decapitated, his regeneration gets worse with age and due to Adamantium poisoning (To the point where the adamantium leeches off of his skin upon getting hit), and thus starts to suffer from several ailments like arthritis, breathing problems, being barely able to walk or bring his claws out and more, combined with the fact that he had sunken into a state of depression near his life's end, eventually making him contemplate suicide.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Bone Claws: Wolverine's translucent veined bone claws were inspired by rattlesnake teeth.
  • Victor and Logan: The connection between Victor and Logan as brothers was first explicitly established in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
  • Hugh Jackman's Inspiration: Jackman likened Wolverine to characters like Dirty Harry and Mad Max, describing Logan's essence as "bad ass." To convey Wolverine's silent fury, he took freezing showers daily.
  • Hideaway: Logan built the hideaway he shared with Kayla Silverfox during his time as a lumberjack.
  • Fighting Style: Hugh Jackman modeled Wolverine's relentless fighting style on Mike Tyson's.
  • Claws: The skin between Wolverine’s knuckles tears and bleeds each time his claws are extended.
  • Casting: Hugh Jackman was a last-minute replacement for Wolverine in the original X-Men movie, as Dougray Scott was delayed by additional filming for Mission Impossible II.
  • Weight: Wolverine weighs 195 lbs without adamantium and 300 lbs with it.
  • Memory Retention: Professor X and Wolverine are the only characters to retain memories of the original timeline, with Wolverine’s consciousness projected back in time and Professor X using telepathy in 1973.
  • Dog Tag Number: Wolverine's dog tag number is 458 25 243.
  • Yellow Spandex: Cyclops's line "What would you prefer, yellow spandex?" in X-Men refers to Wolverine’s iconic comic book costume.
  • Deleted Scene: A deleted scene from The Wolverine shows Yukio presenting Wolverine with a costume similar to his comic book outfit.
  • X2: X-Men United: Hugh Jackman wore a wig in the final scene of X2 because he had long hair for his role in Van Helsing.
  • X-Men: The Last Stand: An alternate scene shows Wolverine returning to Alberta, Canada, and continuing his solitary life, even meeting the bartender from the first film. By the time of The Wolverine, Wolverine returns to Canada alone, specifically to the Yukon.
  • Timeline Inconsistency: Despite Wolverine’s history as a soldier with Sabretooth in the early 1900s, he is depicted as a civilian in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past, which cover the Vietnam War era. This implies he might have been taking breaks between his various conflicts.
  • Glenn Danzig: In the 1990s, Danzig was considered for the role of Wolverine in an early X-Men film due to his physical resemblance to the character and his similar height. He had to decline because filming would interfere with his band's touring schedule.
  • Russell Crowe: Bryan Singer initially wanted Crowe for Wolverine but eventually chose Hugh Jackman. Other actors considered included Glenn Danzig, Dougray Scott, Keanu Reeves, Gary Sinise, Mel Gibson, Aaron Eckhart, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Viggo Mortensen, Edward Norton, and Bob Hoskins.
  • Kodi Smit-McPhee: Originally cast as young Wolverine in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Smit-McPhee was replaced by Troye Sivan due to his commitment to The Road. Smit-McPhee later portrayed young Nightcrawler in X-Men: Apocalypse.
  • Seeing Through Disguises: Logan is one of only two characters able to see through Mystique's disguises, using his sense of smell. The other character is Stryker. They both were tricked by Mystique in X2: X-Men United when she impersonated Jean Grey and Wolverine.
  • Height Difference: While Wolverine is depicted as 5'3" in the comics, Hugh Jackman, who portrays him in the films, is 6'2".
  • Spider-Man Cameo: Jackman was originally set to have a cameo in Spider-Man (2002). The scene was scrapped because the crew could not access the Wolverine costume from X-Men (2000).
  • Uncredited Appearances: Hugh Jackman appeared uncredited in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Apocalypse in cameo roles.
  • Recurring Characters: Wolverine and Professor X are the only characters to appear in every X-Men film. Wolverine is unique in being portrayed by the same actor, Hugh Jackman, in each appearance.
  • Deadpool Films: Wolverine and Professor X are not featured in the Deadpool films. Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, and James McAvoy are referenced, but McAvoy appears briefly in cameos. Stewart is mentioned but does not appear, though archive footage from X-Men Origins: Wolverine is used in the credits of Deadpool 2.
  • Restoration of Claws: After losing his adamantium claws to Yashida in The Wolverine, they are restored in the dystopian 2023 timeline. It is presumed that Magneto helped re-coat Wolverine's claws in adamantium.
  • Healing Factor: In the films, Wolverine's accelerated healing powers are never explicitly referred to as a "healing factor."
  • Variation in Healing: Wolverine's healing abilities were portrayed inconsistently in the early films. Initially, his healing speed wasn't fast enough to prevent bleeding or stop him from being knocked out easily. Later films depict his healing as more advanced, with fewer visible injuries.
  • Consciousness Transfer: Both Professor X and Wolverine transferred their consciousnesses into different bodies. Professor X transferred into his twin brother's body before his old body disintegrated. Wolverine transferred into his younger body in the revised timeline.
  • Dark Phoenix: Dark Phoenix is the only 20th Century Fox X-Men movie that does not feature Wolverine, as Hugh Jackman had retired from the role.
  • Logan's Timeline: Hugh Jackman suggested Logan might take place in a different universe than the revised timeline, similar to the "Old Man Logan" comic. James Mangold confirmed that Logan is set in the revised timeline, though Marvel later designated it as taking place on Earth-17315 and non-canonical to the revised timeline.
