===X2: X-Men United=== At Alkali Lake, Logan finds the military compound Professor X mentioned, but it’s now just a demolished site, which disappoints him. He returns to the X-Mansion. Upon his return, Rogue greets him with a hug and introduces her boyfriend, Bobby (Iceman). Logan and Bobby exchange a handshake, with Bobby giving Logan a light freeze. Logan teases the couple about their physical relationship, and Bobby mentions they’re still working on it. Ororo (Storm) welcomes Logan and informs him that they need a babysitter because she and Jean are heading to Boston to track a mutant who attacked the President. Logan tries to flirt with Jean, but Scott interrupts, asking if Logan found what he was looking for. Logan confirms and hands Scott the keys to his bike, saying it needs gas. Scott tosses the keys back, suggesting Logan handle it himself before Jean and Storm leave for the Hangar Bay. In Cerebro, Xavier is preparing to locate the mutant who attacked the President. He instructs Logan to put out his cigar, which Logan does by extinguishing it on his palm. The wound heals quickly. Xavier explains that Cerebro connects him to all living beings, with white lights representing humans and red representing mutants. Logan mentions his search for the Alkali Lake base yielded nothing. Xavier, focusing on Cerebro, notes that the mutant is difficult to track and explains that concentrating harder could kill him. Xavier leaves Cerebro and tells Logan that reading his mind again would not be helpful; he believes Logan’s past, amnesia, and adamantium skeleton are all connected but suggests that some things need to be discovered on their own. Xavier asks Logan to watch over the students that night while he and Scott visit an old friend. Later, Wolverine, troubled by nightmares, walks downstairs to find Jones, a student who can change TV channels with his eyes. They chat briefly, and Logan heads to the kitchen where he finds Bobby eating ice cream. Logan looks for beer but is told it's a school, so he settles for soda. Bobby cools the soda with his powers before handing it to Logan. They discuss how long Bobby has been at the mansion and Bobby’s relationship with Rogue, revealing the difficulties of their romance due to his powers. During their conversation, Logan's heightened senses detect intruders. He signals Bobby to stay quiet and leaves the kitchen, confronting a soldier who almost shoots Bobby. Siryn, arriving on the scene, unleashes a powerful sonic scream that shatters windows and causes chaos throughout the school. The soldier in the kitchen fires wildly, but Bobby manages to duck. In a berserker rage, Logan kills the soldier in front of Bobby and then takes out more soldiers as Bobby makes his way to the elevator to find Rogue. Logan finds Colossus and hands him the unconscious Jones, instructing him to help the kids. Colossus and Jones head to safety while Logan continues to fight soldiers. He finds Iceman, Rogue, and Pyro, quickly dispatching the soldiers in their path. They escape in an elevator, but Logan leaves to confront more soldiers. Stryker appears and recognizes Logan, revealing that he knows much about him. Logan, not remembering Stryker, demands answers. Before Stryker can elaborate, ice forms a barrier between them. Rogue and Bobby call for Logan to join them, and despite his desire for answers, he decides to escape with the kids. Stryker bombs the ice barrier, but Logan and the kids make it to the garage. Logan starts Cyclops’s car with his claws, and they drive off as Stryker’s soldiers pursue them through the underground tunnels. On the road, Pyro asks Logan about the recent events, and Logan reveals that Stryker is involved but he can't recall his connection to him. Pyro starts the CD player, but a communicator pops out instead. Logan suggests heading to Boston, where Storm and Jean are, and Bobby mentions that his parents live there, making it a good place to rest and regroup. Rogue returns Logan's dog tag, which he had given her before leaving for Alkali Lake. Arriving at the Drake residence in Boston, Bobby finds the house empty and tells John not to cause any trouble. As Logan tries to reach Jean through Scott's communicator, it doesn't work. In the kitchen, Logan grabs a beer and accidentally alarms the Drakes' cat, which isn’t frightened and starts licking his claws. When the Drakes return home, William Drake questions Logan's presence. Bobby introduces Logan as Professor Logan and explains that he has something important to discuss. In the living room, Bobby reveals his mutation to his family. Pyro plays with his lighter, adding tension. Madeline Drake struggles to discuss Bobby’s mutation, and Pyro finishes her sentence. William Drake expresses confusion and frustration, and Logan, cutting in, mentions he’s a professor of Art. Rogue encourages Bobby to demonstrate his powers, which shocks his mother when he freezes her coffee. Pyro mocks the situation, and Bobby’s brother, Ronny, reacts angrily and leaves the room. Madeline expresses guilt, but Pyro makes a pointed remark about the mutant gene being passed through males, blaming William. Ronny, upset, calls the police, escalating the situation further. Logan receives a call on Cyclops' communicator and learns from Jean that the Institute is empty and soldiers have attacked. He informs her that he's in Boston with Bobby Drake's family and urges them to get there quickly. After hanging up, Logan warns the kids that they need to leave immediately. When they exit, they find the house surrounded by police cars. An officer orders Logan to drop his claws and raise his hands. Bobby realizes his brother Ronny must have called the police. Officers break into the house and order Bobby's parents to stand by the wall. Logan tries to explain the situation but is shot in the forehead by an officer, falling to the ground. While Logan is unconscious, John (Pyro) almost sets Bobby's house on fire, which Rogue stops using her powers. The fire extinguishes, and Logan’s wound heals itself as the bullet is expelled. The jet then lands in the yard, and the mutants board it, with none of the officers daring to intervene. On the jet, Wolverine meets the new member of their team, Kurt (Nightcrawler), who introduces himself as a former circus performer known as the incredible Nightcrawler. They take off quickly, with Bobby still reeling from the events involving his family. On the jet, Jean alerts Wolverine that they are close to the mansion, but they are soon pursued by two military jets. The jets order the X-Men to descend. As Storm tries to evade them, she summons a storm, causing one jet to crash, but the other fires two torpedoes. Jean manages to divert one with telekinesis, but the second hits the jet, creating a hole and causing it to lose altitude. Rogue is sucked through the hole and falls, but Nightcrawler teleports to her and saves her. The jet continues to fall until the hole mysteriously closes and the jet stops just above the ground. Magneto and Mystique appear and humorously comment on the jet's flying skills. That night, the mutants set up a camp. Magneto reveals that Colonel William Stryker attacked the mansion to steal or replicate Cerebro, which could be used to locate and potentially kill all mutants. Jean and Storm worry about the catastrophic implications, realizing that if Stryker can force Xavier to use Cerebro to target mutants, it could mean disaster. Magneto explains that Stryker has strong methods of persuasion and that Wolverine’s adamantium skeleton was created by Stryker. Wolverine is upset that Xavier didn’t inform him, but Magneto mentions that Xavier believed Logan would discover it on his own. Magneto then reveals that Mystique has located Stryker’s base, where he’s building a second Cerebro. However, they don’t know its location, and Magneto believes Nightcrawler might have the information they need. Nightcrawler is seen sitting on a branch, indicating he might hold the key to finding the base. In the aftermath of the jet’s attack, Jean uses her telepathy to scan Nightcrawler’s mind and discovers disturbing images, including an operation similar to those seen in Wolverine's past. She concludes that Stryker is at Alkali Lake, but Logan insists that the location is deserted. Jean clarifies that the base is underground. Later, Logan and Jean share a moment alone. Jean expresses her worry for Scott and acknowledges Logan’s display of power, but she emphasizes that she loves Scott and isn’t interested in a relationship with Logan. Despite Logan’s advances, she remains firm, asking him not to make things difficult, and leaves. Nightcrawler, curious, asks Mystique about her shapeshifting abilities. Mystique confirms she is a shapeshifter but prefers her natural form when possible. Logan, looking at his dog tag, is confronted by Mystique who shifts into Jean and kisses him. Realizing something is off, Logan notices the scars he inflicted on Mystique. Mystique taunts him, shifting through several forms, including Jean, Rogue, and Ororo, before ultimately transforming into Stryker and leaving. The next morning, the mutants board the jet, don their uniforms, and head to the mission. The younger mutants complain about not having uniforms yet, and Logan humorously tells them they’ll get theirs in a few years. In the jet, the X-Men plan their infiltration of Stryker’s base using a holographic map. They identify the risk of flooding from the spillway if they go inside. Storm asks Nightcrawler if he can teleport them in, but he needs to see where he's teleporting to avoid materializing inside a wall. Wolverine volunteers, believing Stryker wants him alive. Magneto emphasizes that the person entering needs to understand the base's operations, looking at Mystique. At Alkali Lake, Jean confirms that Stryker’s base is underground. Mystique, disguised as Wolverine, infiltrates the base and tricks Stryker’s troops into opening a gateway for the X-Men. In the Control Room, Mystique observes the mutants breaching the base through explosions, not the soldiers as initially believed. She provides the team with a map showing the location of Cerebro. Logan, separated from the others, descends into a room that triggers his traumatic memories. He finds a green liquid-filled tube, similar to what he experienced during his adamantium bonding procedure. Around the room are x-ray images and evidence of past operations. He discovers a pool of liquid adamantium and flashes back to his painful operation and his first sight of his claws. As he processes these memories, Stryker and Lady Deathstrike arrive. Stryker explains the need to keep adamantium molten and reveals his belief that Logan was not unique—hinting at further plans or experiments Logan pursues Stryker but is intercepted by Yuriko (Lady Deathstrike), who has adamantium claws of her own. They engage in a fierce battle, with Yuriko initially overpowering Logan. Despite her healing factor, Logan manages to inflict significant damage before she throws him onto a suspended iron platform. He uses his claws to cut the platform’s supports, causing it to fall on her and trap her in the adamantium liquid. While recovering, Logan is attacked again by Yuriko but manages to inject her with molten adamantium using a needle. She becomes immobilized and ultimately succumbs as the metal hardens in her body, leaving Logan horrified but relieved. Outside, Stryker attempts to take off in a helicopter. Logan confronts him, blaming Stryker for his experiments and demanding answers. Stryker dismisses Logan as a failed experiment and reveals that he was merely an animal before the procedure. As the dam begins to flood due to Stryker’s actions, he offers Logan a chance to escape with him, claiming they are survivors. Logan rejects the offer, asserting that if they are to die, they will do so together. He then stabs Stryker in the neck, ties him to the helicopter, and returns to the base to find a way out. As the dam continues to collapse, Logan rescues Cyclops and Professor X before leading the mutants to safety. They attempt to escape through the spillway but find the route blocked by flooding water. Logan redirects them through an alternate path to safety. Outside, the mutants escape to the snow-covered ground, only to find that Magneto has taken the helicopter. Rogue, piloting the jet, makes an emergency landing after a chaotic flight. The team boards the jet, with Kurt teleporting Xavier inside. Logan, carrying Artie, heads into the woods where he confronts Stryker, who is chained to a concrete wall. Stryker taunts Logan about having the answers and questions who really holds the key to his plans. Logan drops the dog tags Stryker made for him and leaves Stryker to die as the dam collapses. Stryker shouts a final threat about someone finishing his work in the future. Artie responds by sticking out his tongue as Logan and Artie leave, marking the end of Stryker’s immediate threat. Inside the jet, Wolverine hands Artie to Bobby. Jean reassures him that she's fine, but the team soon realizes the jet is losing power and cannot take off. Rogue notices John is missing, and Jean telepathically confirms he’s with Magneto, which upsets everyone. As the dam bursts again, Jean decides to act. She leaves the jet unnoticed, but Xavier alerts the team. Scott and Logan rush to the exit, but Jean telekinetically seals the door and starts the jet. Jean uses her telekinesis to hold back the floodwater and free the jet from the snow. Despite Scott’s desperate pleas, Jean tells Xavier through telepathy that she knows what she’s doing and this is the only way. Jean manages to lift the jet into the air but sacrifices herself by letting the floodwater overwhelm her. As the jet flies away, Scott and the team are devastated by her loss. The scene ends with the jet soaring above the now-flooded area, mourning the tragic sacrifice Jean made for their survival. In Washington, the X-Men infiltrate President McKenna's office with Professor X using his powers to freeze everyone in the room. The atmosphere is tense as the sky darkens and lightning illuminates the scene. The president is frightened to see Nightcrawler among the mutants. Xavier introduces himself and his team, reassuring the president that they mean no harm. Xavier explains that the documents on the desk were taken from William Stryker’s private office, and he reveals that they know a little girl who can walk through walls—hinting at how they obtained the documents. The president is skeptical, claiming he hasn't seen this information before. Xavier tells him that their visit is not a threat but an opportunity to avoid repeating past mistakes and to work together for a better future. He emphasizes that the mutants are here to stay and that the president’s next move will be crucial. As lightning strikes and the mutants' faces are briefly illuminated, Wolverine asserts that they'll be watching. The X-Men then vanish as the lights turn back on, leaving the president in silence and unsure of how to respond to the media. In Xavier's study, Scott gazes out the window, grappling with grief over Jean's sacrifice. Xavier reflects on Jean's struggle with her powers and her fear of being left behind. Scott, his voice choked with emotion, questions if they could have done more to save her. Xavier acknowledges that Jean's decision to sacrifice herself was ultimately her own choice, and in the past, she might have hesitated. As students, including Artie, Jones, Bobby, Moonstar, and Jubilee, enter the classroom, Logan and Scott leave. Logan tells Scott that Jean's choice was made in the end, not just by her but also by Scott. Scott, still in pain, walks away, finding little solace in Logan's words.
