The Super Saiyans of legend were an invincible warrior race! I am their son. And at long last, I have risen to claim my birthright. I have stepped into the ranks of greatness. All my life, I have worked toward this goal and for what? To be brushed aside as easily as a common housefly by an android? A true Super Saiyan would not have fallen. Maybe I am not who I think I am. Perhaps there are still new plateaus for me to reach, far greater heights to which I must ascend. Yes, I will ascend. The universe will marvel to see the ultimate Saiyan potential once again realized... and I will be legendary. And then Kakarot, then I will see you bow before your Prince."

Vegeta (ベジータ Bejīta), more specifically Vegeta IV (ベジータ四世 Bejīta Yonsei), also known as Prince Vegeta (ベジータ王子 Bejīta Ōji), is the prince of the fallen Saiyan race. He is the eldest son of King Vegeta, the husband of Bulma, and the father of Trunks and Bulla. Vegeta is a central character in the Dragon Ball series.

Initially depicted as a regal, egotistical, and prideful warrior, Vegeta was a ruthless and cold-blooded fighter. However, he eventually abandoned his role in the Frieza Force to lead a more peaceful life on Earth. Over time, he became a staunch protector of Earth and his family, often fighting alongside the strongest warriors Vegeta is a muscular man of shorter stature, standing at 164 centimeters tall. He has black or dark reddish-brown hair (depending on the media) that spikes upwards with a distinctive widow's peak. Like most Saiyans from Universe 7, he has defined eyes that often carry a stern expression. Born with a prehensile, brown-furred tail, it was later permanently severed by Yajirobe.

Vegeta is a muscular man of shorter stature, standing at 164 centimeters tall.

Appearance

Early Series Appearance: Initially, Vegeta was portrayed as short and lean, especially when compared to his towering partner, Nappa. However, as the series progressed, Vegeta's physique became more robust and muscular. His hair seemed shorter, and his facial features, once often in a smile before losing his first battle with Goku, hardened into a perpetual scowl. This transformation made him appear older and more defined in later sagas.

Saiyan Armor: A hallmark of Vegeta’s combat attire is his traditional Saiyan armor. Throughout the series, he has worn various versions, customizing them to suit his evolving persona:

  • Saiyan Saga: Vegeta sported white armor with yellow shoulder pads, a matching stomach and lower back plates, and skirt pads over a blue bodysuit, along with white gloves and boots. He also wore a red scouter (green in the manga) and would often wrap his tail around his armor like a belt.
  • Namek Saga: After his armor was heavily damaged, he switched to a similar outfit but without the skirt padding. During this period, he also ceased using the scouter after deeming it unnecessary.
  • Captain Ginyu and Frieza Sagas: Vegeta’s attire shifted to an older model design featuring a navy-blue bodysuit under white armor with brown stomach and lower back plates, sans the shoulder pads, paired with new white boots and gloves.

Earthly Clothing:

  • Trunks Saga: Vegeta sported a casual pink shirt labeled "Bad Man" on the back, a white sleeveless undershirt, yellow pants, and green shoes.
  • Androids/Cell Sagas: He donned a refined version of his Saiyan armor with yellow shoulder straps and polygonal armor plates over a bodysuit that extended to cover his neck. His boots featured yellow-striped tips.
  • Buu Saga: To participate in the World Martial Arts Tournament, Vegeta wore a sleeveless dark blue tank top tucked into matching sweatpants, along with his customary white gloves and boots. This look continued into "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" and "Super Hero," with a color update to dark teal blue and rounded boots with gray soles.

Flashback and Alternate Designs:

  • Childhood and Early Depictions: Vegeta's initial design as a child in "Bardock - The Father of Goku" featured bangs and a white armor with a red cape, signifying his royal lineage. This design was modified in "Dragon Ball Minus" and "Broly," showing him with his traditional widow's peak and black armor sans the cape, aligning with his statement that pure-blooded Saiyan hair remains unchanged.
  • Early Anime Color Scheme: Before his official colors were established, the anime depicted Vegeta with red hair and a khaki green and orange armor ensemble. This temporary design was replaced with his iconic look once his colors were confirmed in the manga.

Modern Series and Recent Adaptations:

  • Dragon Ball Super: Vegeta frequently returns to his familiar attire from the Androids/Cell Sagas. During training with Whis, he wears a new gray bodysuit with sleek armor featuring darker gold accents, a symbol of his evolving strength.
  • Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga: While serving as a temporary member of the Galactic Patrol, Vegeta's armor includes their emblem, and he also dons traditional Yardrat attire during his training on Planet Yardrat.
  • Granolah the Survivor Saga: Under Beerus’ guidance, Vegeta adds a golden earpiece as a mark of his ability to harness the Energy of Destruction.

Personality

  1. Pride and Arrogance:
    • Vegeta's vanity and egotism are defining characteristics throughout the series. Initially, his royal lineage and Saiyan pride make him view himself as superior to others, including other Saiyans like Goku.
    • His arrogance often leads to significant missteps, such as allowing Cell to reach his Perfect Form purely for the challenge, and underestimating opponents like Perfect Cell and Kid Buu based on their appearances.
  2. Rivalry with Goku:
    • Vegeta's relationship with Goku is central to his character. Initially, he sees Goku as a lower-class Saiyan beneath him, but Goku's repeated surpassing of Vegeta fuels a deep-seated rivalry.
    • Over time, this rivalry transitions from bitter antagonism to a more respectful competition. Vegeta's quest to surpass Goku becomes a driving force for his own growth and development.
    • Vegeta's obsession with Goku manifests in various ways, from moments of anger and envy to profound respect and acknowledgment of Goku's unique strengths, like during the Tournament of Power when Vegeta aids Goku in achieving Ultra Instinct.
  3. Transformation and Redemption:
    • Vegeta's journey from villain to hero is marked by significant moments of transformation and redemption. His initial ruthlessness gives way to moments of mercy and alliance, starting with his cooperation with Gohan and Krillin on Namek.
    • His sacrifice against Majin Buu, where he acknowledges his love for his family and performs a selfless act for the first time, marks a pivotal turning point in his redemption arc.
    • Throughout "Dragon Ball Super," Vegeta continues to evolve, showing deep care for his family, a sense of duty to protect Earth, and a willingness to atone for his past sins, as seen during his reflections on the Namekian genocide and his fight against Moro.
  4. Family and Fatherhood:
    • Initially dismissive of familial bonds, Vegeta's relationship with Bulma and his children becomes a cornerstone of his character. His interactions with Trunks, both present and future versions, reveal a softer side and a deep sense of pride and responsibility.
    • Vegeta's protective nature towards his family is evident in his fierce reactions to threats against them, such as his battles against Beerus and Frieza when his loved ones are endangered.
    • His relationship with Bulla further humanizes him, showcasing his capacity for affection and his acceptance of different paths for his children.
  5. Respect and Teamwork:
    • Vegeta's gradual acceptance and respect for his fellow Z Fighters grow throughout the series. Initially disdainful and antagonistic, he comes to see them as comrades and allies.
    • His willingness to fuse with Goku against formidable foes like Super Buu and Janemba, and later proposing fusion against Omega Shenron in "Dragon Ball GT," highlights his growing openness to teamwork.
    • Vegeta's interactions with the Universe 6 Saiyan Cabba and his mentorship role further illustrate his expanding sense of camaraderie and responsibility beyond his immediate circle.
  6. Sense of Honor and Morality:
    • Despite his ruthless beginnings, Vegeta develops a strong sense of honor and disdain for dishonorable tactics in combat. This is evident in his reactions to cowardly opponents like Prum during the Tournament of Power.
    • His guilt over the Saiyan race's past atrocities and his commitment to protect New Namek from Moro show his evolving sense of morality and his desire to atone for his past.
    • Vegeta's refusal to become a God of Destruction and his ultimate acceptance of his past sins highlight his complex moral compass and his ongoing struggle to reconcile his warrior instincts with his growing humanity.
  7. Evolution of Strength:
    • Vegeta's relentless pursuit of power is a core aspect of his character. His training to achieve the Super Saiyan transformation and beyond reflects his unyielding determination.
    • Over time, Vegeta's understanding of strength evolves. Initially focused on surpassing Goku and achieving ultimate power, he comes to see strength as a means to protect his loved ones and uphold his values.
    • His acquisition of new forms like Super Saiyan Blue and Ultra Ego in "Dragon Ball Super" signifies his continuous growth and adaptation, driven by both his rivalry with Goku and his desire to safeguard his family and universe.

Biography

Background

Name and Lineage: Vegeta, named after his home planet, was born in Age 732 to King Vegeta, the ruler of the Saiyan race. Despite their fearsome reputation, the Saiyans lived under the dominion of the interplanetary tyrant, Frieza. From a young age, Vegeta was coerced into serving Frieza, a fate sealed by his father's inability to resist Frieza's power.

Encounter with Beerus: A pivotal moment in Vegeta's youth was witnessing the God of Destruction, Beerus, overpowering and humiliating his father. This event had significant variations in its portrayal. In the "Battle of Gods" movie, Vegeta doesn't intervene. However, in "Dragon Ball Super," Vegeta attempts to aid his father but is immobilized by Beerus, highlighting his early exposure to the brutal reality of power dynamics in the universe.

Survival from Planet Vegeta's Destruction: During a mission on a distant planet with Raditz, Nappa, and two other Saiyans, Vegeta disregarded a recall message to return to Planet Vegeta. This decision spared his life when Frieza annihilated the Saiyan homeworld. Vegeta, seemingly indifferent to his planet’s destruction and unaware of his brother Tarble's fate, chose to stay focused on his survival and ambitions.

Enslavement Under Frieza

Servitude and Resistance: After Planet Vegeta's destruction, Frieza kept Vegeta, Nappa, and Raditz as his subordinates, exploiting their combat prowess for his conquests. Vegeta, ever the proud Saiyan prince, was particularly disdainful of Frieza’s right-hand man, Zarbon, who belittled him for years and treated him as a mere slave. Despite his subjugation, Vegeta steadfastly referred to himself as the "Prince of all Saiyans," possibly out of respect for his deceased father or a refusal to acknowledge the extinction of his race.

Failed Assassination Attempts: Vegeta harbored ambitions to overthrow Frieza, planning numerous assassination attempts. However, Frieza's overwhelming power, demonstrated by his effortless destruction of planets and rebellion, forced Vegeta to bide his time and wait for an opportune moment to strike. His sense of caution was underscored during the mission to the planet Shikk, where he restrained Nappa from attacking Frieza and his elite soldiers, Zarbon and Dodoria, recognizing their group's inferiority.

Frieza's Mockery and Ginyu Force Conflict: During his servitude, Vegeta endured continual mockery from Zarbon, particularly after their mission to Shikk. Zarbon's taunts about Vegeta’s inability to confront Frieza incited deep-seated rage within the Saiyan prince, who struggled to contain his fury. Additionally, Vegeta’s disdain extended to other members of Frieza’s forces, such as Guldo of the Ginyu Force. Their rivalry peaked when Guldo belittled Vegeta's status, only for Frieza to intervene, shooing Guldo and forcing Vegeta to accompany him on yet another mission.

Rumors and Realizations: As time passed, Vegeta became aware of rumors suggesting that Frieza, not a natural disaster, was responsible for the annihilation of Planet Vegeta. Although this revelation shocked his comrades, Vegeta’s response was cold and pragmatic. He viewed the Saiyan race's destruction as a consequence of their weakness and resolved to become the strongest warrior, ensuring he would not share their fate.

Saiyan Saga

Discovery of Earth

Vegeta learns about Earth when he receives Raditz's final transmission, revealing the existence of the Dragon Balls—seven magical orbs that grant any wish. Upon hearing of these objects and Raditz's death, Vegeta, along with his comrade Nappa, decides to travel to Earth to use the Dragon Balls to attain immortality. This goal is later hinted to be motivated by his desire to overthrow Frieza and end his suffering under Frieza's tyranny. The Z Fighters are forewarned of their impending arrival, giving them about a year to train and prepare for the battle.

Stopover on Arlia

During their journey to Earth, Vegeta and Nappa make a brief detour to the planet Arlia. This segment, exclusive to the anime, shows them effortlessly defeating the planet's strongest warriors and then obliterating Arlia itself before continuing on their path to Earth.

Arrival and Initial Battle

Upon landing on Earth, Vegeta and Nappa begin their assault, causing widespread destruction. They soon encounter Piccolo, Krillin, and Gohan, who are joined by Tien Shinhan, Chiaotzu, and Yamcha. The Z Fighters face off against a group of Saibamen, planted by Nappa. Yamcha falls when a Saibaman self-destructs on him. In retaliation, Krillin destroys most of the Saibamen, with Piccolo finishing off the last one.

Confrontation with Nappa

Impressed by the Earth warriors, Nappa decides to take on the Z Fighters himself while Vegeta watches from the sidelines. Nappa overpowers the defenders, leading to Chiaotzu's self-sacrifice in a failed attempt to kill Nappa. Tien Shinhan also falls in his effort to avenge Chiaotzu. Despite occasional injuries, Nappa dominates the battle. Vegeta instructs Nappa to pause his assault for three hours, awaiting Goku's arrival. During this period, in a filler scene, Nappa destroys Earth's military under Vegeta's orders to conserve energy.

Throughout the fight, Vegeta mocks Nappa's blunders and the brief successes of the Z Fighters. Despite his disdain for Nappa's capabilities, Vegeta aids him in critical moments, such as warning him about Krillin's Destructo Disc. As Nappa maintains his advantage, the Z Fighters desperately call for Goku.

Goku's Arrival

When Goku finally arrives, Vegeta assesses his power level and commands Nappa to kill Goku's friends to prevent them from aiding Goku in the upcoming battle. As Nappa targets Gohan, Piccolo sacrifices himself to protect the boy. This act enrages Gohan, who retaliates with a powerful but ineffective Super Masenko against Nappa. Recognizing Gohan's potential, Vegeta orders Nappa to kill him. Just as Nappa is about to crush Gohan, Goku intervenes.

Vegeta, noting Goku's impressive power, allows Nappa to fight him. Although Nappa initially matches Goku, the benefits of Goku's training soon become apparent. Vegeta, frustrated with Nappa's slow progress, calls him back. Nappa, enraged, tries to attack Gohan and Krillin, but Goku uses the Kaio-ken technique to stop and cripple him. Vegeta, disappointed by Nappa's failure, feigns assistance but ultimately kills him for his incompetence.

Vegeta vs. Goku

After Nappa's defeat, Goku gives Krillin and Gohan Senzu Beans to restore their strength and asks them to leave the upcoming battle to him. Vegeta agrees to move the fight to a different location. At Gizard Wasteland, Vegeta offers Goku a chance to join him, which Goku rejects, affirming his contentment with his life and disapproval of Vegeta's ruthless ways. They argue over their philosophies, with Vegeta asserting his superiority and Goku countering that hard work can elevate anyone to elite status.

Their battle begins, and despite Goku's improved strength, Vegeta proves to be stronger. Goku pushes the Kaio-ken technique to dangerous levels to keep up. When Vegeta attempts to destroy Earth with his Galick Gun, Goku counters with a Kamehameha, using Kaio-ken times four to overpower Vegeta and send him skyward.

Vegeta's Transformation

Surviving the blast, Vegeta resorts to transforming into a Great Ape, using a Power Ball to simulate the moon's light since Piccolo had destroyed the actual moon earlier. In his Great Ape form, Vegeta gains the upper hand, forcing Goku to rely on the Spirit Bomb technique. However, Vegeta disrupts the attack before Goku can unleash it and begins to crush Goku slowly.

Krillin and Gohan return to the battlefield after seeing the Power Ball. They attempt to cut off Vegeta's tail to revert him to his normal form. Though they fail, Yajirobe succeeds in severing Vegeta's tail. Back to his normal state, Vegeta, though weakened, still outmatches Gohan. Goku instructs Krillin to use the remaining Spirit Bomb energy against Vegeta.

The Spirit Bomb and Gohan's Transformation

Krillin, guided by Goku and North Kai, launches the Spirit Bomb at Vegeta. Though Vegeta dodges the initial attack, Gohan deflects it back, severely wounding Vegeta. Despite this, Vegeta survives and prepares a counterattack. Noticing Gohan's regrown tail, Vegeta realizes the boy may transform into a Great Ape. Yajirobe's distraction allows Gohan to transform, and in his ape form, Gohan overpowers the exhausted Vegeta.

Vegeta cuts off Gohan's tail, reverting him to normal size, but the boy falls on him, crushing him. Defeated, Vegeta retreats to his space pod. As Krillin prepares to finish Vegeta, Goku telepathically urges him to spare the Saiyan prince, hoping for a rematch and believing Vegeta can change as Piccolo did. Krillin reluctantly agrees, and Vegeta departs, vowing revenge on Goku. As he leaves, Vegeta is consumed by disbelief and anger over how a "low-class" Saiyan like Goku could challenge him, refusing to acknowledge the combined efforts of the Z Fighters in his defeat.

Frieza Saga

After recovering, Cui informs Vegeta that Frieza is already on Namek with his lieutenants, Zarbon and Dodoria, searching for the Dragon Balls. Frieza had learned about them by monitoring Vegeta and Nappa’s scouters. Wasting no time, Vegeta heads to Namek with his own plan to use the Dragon Balls. On Namek, he encounters Krillin and Gohan, who are also seeking the Dragon Balls. Although he initially tries to intimidate them, Vegeta eventually focuses on the bigger threat: Frieza. Vegeta soon faces Cui, who was sent by Frieza to kill him. Unknown to Cui, Vegeta's strength has significantly increased after his battles on Earth. Easily outmaneuvering Cui, Vegeta kills him. Vegeta later confronts Dodoria and, after learning that Frieza was responsible for destroying Planet Vegeta, kills him as well. Dodoria’s offer to ally against Frieza is dismissed by Vegeta, who resents Frieza for enslaving him.

In his quest for the Dragon Balls, Vegeta attacks a Namekian village to secure one of them. With Frieza's forces already holding five Dragon Balls, Vegeta plans to keep one and seize the rest from Frieza when the opportunity arises. After hiding his Dragon Ball, Vegeta is ambushed by Zarbon. Initially, Vegeta seems to have the upper hand until Zarbon transforms, overpowering and leaving him for dead. Zarbon reports back to Frieza, who orders him to retrieve Vegeta for interrogation, suspecting he knows the location of a Dragon Ball.

Once healed, Vegeta escapes and steals Frieza’s collected Dragon Balls. He confronts Krillin and Bulma for another Dragon Ball, but Zarbon soon arrives, leading to a battle where Vegeta, now even stronger, defeats and kills Zarbon. Vegeta gathers six of the seven Dragon Balls and seeks the final one, encountering Gohan, who tricks him and steals one of the Balls.

Frustrated by Gohan’s deception, Vegeta returns to Bulma’s hideout, only to find it abandoned. Meanwhile, Frieza summons the Ginyu Force to retrieve the Dragon Balls and capture Vegeta. Upon their arrival, Vegeta allies with Gohan and Krillin, planning to use the Dragon Balls to wish for immortality.

As they race to gather the Dragon Balls, the Ginyu Force intercepts them. Despite their efforts, the Ginyu Force captures the Dragon Balls, and Vegeta, Gohan, and Krillin are left to face them. Vegeta quickly kills Guldo, who tries to skewer Gohan and Krillin. Recoome then steps up, easily defeating Vegeta, Krillin, and Gohan.

Goku arrives, healing his allies and effortlessly defeating Recoome, Burter, and Jeice. Vegeta kills the unconscious Recoome and Burter. Captain Ginyu and Jeice arrive, leading to a confrontation where Ginyu switches bodies with Goku. After a series of battles and another body switch, Ginyu ends up in a frog’s body due to Goku’s quick thinking.

Vegeta, Krillin, and Gohan take Goku to heal, while Frieza heads to retrieve his Dragon Balls. With Goku recovering, Krillin and Gohan summon the Namekian Dragon, Porunga, and wish for Piccolo's revival and transport to Namek. Before they can make a third wish, the Elder Guru’s death interrupts them, causing Vegeta's rage.

Frieza arrives, transforming to a more powerful state. Despite Vegeta’s warnings and attempts to fight, Frieza overpowers him and the others. Piccolo joins the battle, but even he struggles against Frieza's new form. Vegeta devises a plan to become a Super Saiyan by having Krillin injure him so Dende can heal him, but this fails as Frieza transforms again.

Frieza's third form proves too powerful, leading to Dende’s death and a desperate battle. Vegeta declares himself a Super Saiyan and attacks Frieza, but is easily defeated. Goku arrives, and Vegeta, realizing Goku’s strength, taunts Frieza, only to be mortally wounded by Frieza.

As Vegeta dies, he implores Goku to defeat Frieza and avenge the Saiyan race. Goku promises to honor Vegeta's pride and buries him before facing Frieza. In a vision, Vegeta and other Saiyans encourage Goku to defeat Frieza.

Vegeta is later revived by the Earth's Dragon Balls and transported to Earth. He learns Goku has achieved the Super Saiyan form and tries to attack Frieza but is sent to Earth by Porunga before he can strike. Upon learning Goku survived Namek’s explosion, Vegeta initially feigns joy but is clearly affected. He sets out to become stronger and seek Goku, determined to achieve Super Saiyan status himself.

Frieza-Android Saga Interlude

In the anime only, Vegeta travels through space aboard the Capsule Corporation Spaceship in search of Goku, determined to unlock the Super Saiyan transformation. Along the way, he confronts and defeats the remaining remnants of Frieza's army to prove Frieza's demise. Sensing Goku's presence on a nearby planet, Vegeta's pursuit is momentarily obstructed by a massive asteroid. After demolishing the obstacle, he discovers Goku has vanished, fueling Vegeta's resolve to attain Super Saiyan power someday.

One year and eight months after the Namekian saga, Vegeta returns to Earth having failed to locate Goku. Despite his increased strength from intense training, he remains frustrated at not achieving Super Saiyan status. Upon returning to Capsule Corporation, Bulma insists he clean up and even gives him a pink shirt, which he reluctantly accepts. Despite his outward hostility, Vegeta finds himself surprisingly compliant with Bulma's demands, much to everyone's surprise. As they settle in, news arrives that Frieza and King Cold are en route to Earth, prompting tension. However, a mysterious young man named Trunks arrives, transforms into a Super Saiyan, and swiftly dispatches both Frieza and his father. Trunks reveals that Goku will soon arrive, leaving the Z Fighters and Bulma awaiting Goku's return with eager anticipation.

Vegeta, suspicious and jealous of Trunks' Super Saiyan abilities, questions his identity and his lineage. As tensions rise, Trunks reveals himself to be Vegeta's son from a future where the Androids wreak havoc. He provides Goku with a cure for a deadly heart virus and warns of the impending Android threat in three years. Over the following years, the Z Fighters train rigorously, with Vegeta pushing himself the hardest in his quest for Super Saiyan power. Despite injuries and hospitalizations, he remains relentless in his pursuit, while developing a strained relationship with Bulma, who gives birth to their son, Trunks.

In the anime's unique storyline, Vegeta takes the Gravity Machine-equipped ship to a secluded planet to train without distraction. Battling a sudden meteor shower that threatens both him and the ship, Vegeta reaches the brink of hopelessness and desperation. It is in this moment that he finally achieves the long sought-after transformation into a Super Saiyan, overcoming the meteor and proving his purity of heart, albeit one of pure evil.

Androids Saga

Shortly after Androids 19 and 20 appear and begin causing chaos a year later, Vegeta, aged 35 at the time, intervenes when Goku falls victim to a heart virus during his battle against Android 19. Unexpectedly arriving, Vegeta kicks Android 19 aside and instructs the others to administer Goku's medicine, saving his life. Astonishing everyone, Vegeta then transforms into a Super Saiyan, effortlessly overpowering Android 19. After brutalizing the android and dismantling its hands, Vegeta finishes it off with his signature Big Bang Attack.

Clearly outclassing the Androids, Vegeta's display forces Android 20 (Dr. Gero in a cyborg body) to flee. Future Trunks arrives and reveals that these Androids differ from those in his timeline. After rejuvenating with a Senzu Bean, Vegeta learns Trunks' true identity, initially shocked but ultimately accepting, even feeling pride as Trunks demonstrates his Super Saiyan prowess at such a young age. Android 20 attempts to eliminate Bulma, baby Trunks, and Yajirobe to escape, but Future Trunks saves them, questioning Vegeta's indifference towards his family. Undeterred, Vegeta continues his pursuit of Android 20.

Tracking Dr. Gero to his lab, Vegeta and the team uncover Androids 17 and 18, activated in a desperate bid by Gero. These new Androids prove vastly superior, with Android 17 swiftly dispatching Gero. Vegeta engages Android 18 in battle, initially surprising her with his newfound power but ultimately succumbing due to her inexhaustible energy. Piccolo, Tien, and Future Trunks also fall in their attempts to stop the Androids, who then set their sights on Goku. Krillin distributes Senzu Beans, reviving their fallen comrades.

Overwhelmed by his defeat, Vegeta spends three days brooding on a cliff, igniting his rage and triggering a transformation into Super Saiyan out of sheer frustration. Convinced there must be a level beyond Super Saiyan, he resolves to reach it.

In the Cell Saga, Vegeta learns of Cell's existence from Piccolo, who fused with Kami. Discovering that Cell possesses cells from both himself and Goku, Vegeta is incensed by the mockery of his strength. Determined to ascend beyond Super Saiyan, Vegeta contemplates his next move for three days before Goku reveals the existence of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.

Entering the chamber with Future Trunks, Vegeta trains intensively, achieving greater power but rejecting the Super Saiyan Third Grade due to its impracticality. Emerging to confront Semi-Perfect Cell, Vegeta dominates him in his Super Saiyan Second Grade form, forcing Cell to request absorption of Android 18 for further enhancement. Initially refusing, Vegeta eventually relents, eager to showcase his newfound power. However, he is bested by Cell, who then battles Future Trunks and ultimately achieves his Perfect form.

Cell announces a martial arts tournament, providing ten days for preparation. Goku and Gohan train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, emerging as Full-Power Super Saiyans. Vegeta re-enters the chamber alone but achieves minimal gains, disappointed upon his return.

At the tournament, Goku confronts Perfect Cell but acknowledges his inferiority and passes the mantle to Gohan. Reluctant and lacking in fighting spirit, Gohan struggles against Perfect Cell until Android 16's death triggers his latent power, transforming him into Super Saiyan 2. Overwhelming Cell, Gohan's victory is short-lived as Cell regurgitates Android 18 and self-destructs, only to return stronger.

Devastated by Future Trunks' death, Vegeta attacks Super Perfect Cell in a rage, futilely unleashing his Ki Blasts. Gohan intervenes, taking a critical hit to protect Vegeta. Recognizing his shortcomings and the nobility of Goku and Gohan, Vegeta apologizes for his actions, marking a profound change in his character.

With Goku gone, Vegeta vows to abandon his warrior pride and commits to becoming a better husband and father, settling into life on Earth and cherishing his family.

Majin Buu Saga

The Great Saiyaman Saga picks up seven years after the Cell Games, where Vegeta, having set aside his ambitions as a warrior, intensively trains at Bulma's place, aiming to surpass Gohan's Super Saiyan 2 power. He remains skeptical of peace, believing it breeds complacency, especially as Gohan prioritizes his studies over training. When Gohan and Trunks playfully interact, Vegeta, emerging from a gravity room session, rebukes Gohan for not maintaining his strength, asserting that peace should not equate to laziness.

The 25th World Martial Arts Tournament becomes a focal point when Gohan, coerced by Videl after she uncovers his Great Saiyaman identity, reluctantly prepares to compete. Bulma modifies Gohan's costume to comply with tournament rules, much to his embarrassment. Vegeta, overhearing the commotion, decides to enter the tournament himself, eager to gauge his progress against Goku, who plans to return temporarily from Other World for the event. This prospect excites Vegeta, confident he can outshine Goku and his sons.

During preparations, Vegeta adopts a tough-love approach while training Trunks, pushing him to adapt to intense gravity training. Impressed when Trunks effortlessly transforms into a Super Saiyan, Vegeta challenges him to hit his face and promises an amusement park visit if successful. Trunks succeeds, prompting Vegeta to reluctantly keep his promise. However, his pride is challenged upon learning that Goten, thanks to Chi-Chi's accidental triggering, is also a Super Saiyan and nearly matches Trunks in strength. Determined to widen the power gap between Trunks and Goten, Vegeta heads to the tournament with his family and allies.

At the tournament, the Z Fighters warmly welcome Goku's return. Vegeta, eager for competition, destroys the punch reader machine in a display of his power. Proud of Trunks winning the Junior Division, Vegeta revels in his son's victory. However, the tournament takes a dramatic turn when Shin and Kibito arrive, warning Goku about Babidi and Majin Buu's impending threat. Despite initial resistance, Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, and others join Shin to confront Babidi.

Inside Babidi's spaceship, Vegeta demonstrates his strength by effortlessly defeating Pui Pui on a planet with intense gravity, reflecting on his rigorous training and Saiyan upbringing. Goku follows with a challenging battle against Yakon, highlighting his adaptability and strength. However, tensions rise when Gohan clashes with Dabura, leading to a disagreement between Goku and Vegeta on handling the Babidi threat. As Dabura retreats, Vegeta succumbs to Babidi's manipulation, transforming into Majin Vegeta, driven by his desire to fight Goku on equal terms once more.

Majin Vegeta's emergence complicates their mission, as he disregards the imminent danger and focuses solely on provoking Goku into a battle. Blasting part of the tournament grounds and endangering bystanders, Majin Vegeta goads Goku into a secluded fight. Revealing his inner conflict—struggling between his newfound familial happiness and his Saiyan pride—Majin Vegeta powers up to Super Saiyan 2, seeking to reclaim his ruthless, warrior past. Despite Goku's attempts to reason with him, Majin Vegeta remains resolute in his desire to battle Goku without distractions.

Their intense duel showcases their growth and rivalry, with both fighters pushing each other to their limits. However, Goku halts the fight upon sensing Majin Buu's awakening, warning Vegeta of the greater threat. Refusing to heed Goku's warning, Majin Vegeta knocks him out, intent on settling their score and proving his strength.

The saga continues with Vegeta's self-sacrifice against Majin Buu, driven by guilt over his actions and a desire to protect his loved ones. Despite his valiant efforts using the Final Explosion technique, Majin Buu proves resilient, surviving the attack. Vegeta's sacrifice, though heroic, doesn't destroy Majin Buu, leaving Earth's fate uncertain.

Later in the saga, Vegeta gets another chance at combating Majin Buu when King Yemma allows him to return to Earth temporarily. However, he remains in a deceased state. Upon reuniting with Goku, who has been resurrected by Shin's ancestor, Vegeta learns of the dire situation: many of their friends and family, including Bulma and Trunks, have been either killed or absorbed by Majin Buu, who has transformed into a more formidable opponent known as Super Buu.

Initially hesitant to fuse with Goku using the Potara earrings due to his resentment over Goku's hidden Super Saiyan 3 power, Vegeta eventually agrees out of necessity to stop Super Buu and avenge his family. Their fusion creates Vegito, a powerful warrior who initially overwhelms Super Buu. However, Vegito decides to be absorbed intentionally to rescue their absorbed friends and family within Super Buu's body. The fusion eventually separates due to the strange conditions inside Buu, and Goku and Vegeta find themselves back in their own bodies.

They then confront Super Buu inside his body, where they encounter a "thought-form" of him and believe they have defeated him until he regenerates. Despite their efforts, Super Buu remains a formidable foe, leading to a desperate situation. In a crucial moment, Vegeta threatens to tear out the good Majin Buu from inside Super Buu, causing a disturbance that ultimately results in Super Buu transforming back into his original form, Kid Buu.

In the epic conclusion of the saga, Goku and Vegeta face off against Kid Buu in a desperate bid to save Earth and the universe. Despite their valiant efforts in individual battles, neither Goku's Super Saiyan 3 nor Vegeta's Super Saiyan 2 forms prove sufficient to defeat the relentless Kid Buu. The situation becomes dire as Goku struggles with dwindling energy, and Vegeta steps in to buy time despite knowing the risk of permanent destruction in his current dead state.

Realizing that direct power alone won't suffice, Vegeta devises a plan: gather energy from all living beings on Earth to create a Super Spirit Bomb. This plan hinges on resurrecting those who died since Babidi's arrival, ensuring their energy is pure and untainted by evil. Initially met with skepticism from Earth's inhabitants, Mr. Satan's influence ultimately persuades them to contribute their energy.

With the Super Spirit Bomb complete, Goku faces a critical moment when Kid Buu restrains Vegeta. However, the good Majin Buu intervenes, allowing Goku to launch the Super Spirit Bomb. The combined effort of Goku, Vegeta, and the people of Earth proves decisive, overwhelming Kid Buu and saving the universe from destruction.

After the battle, Vegeta initially wants to eliminate the good Majin Buu but relents at Goku's urging, acknowledging the creature's role in their victory. This moment marks a significant shift in Vegeta's perspective, as he accepts Majin Buu as part of their group. The saga concludes with Goku and Vegeta finally reconciling their rivalry, evolving into genuine friends while maintaining their competitive spirit.

Returning to Earth, Vegeta is warmly welcomed by his family and friends, culminating in a celebratory gathering at Capsule Corp. The long journey of rivalry, growth, and ultimate friendship between Goku and Vegeta reaches a satisfying resolution, marking a pivotal moment in the Dragon Ball series.

Battle Of Gods

In "Battle of Gods," four years after the defeat of Kid Buu, Vegeta finds himself reluctantly hosting a party organized by Bulma to appease Beerus, the God of Destruction. Initially focused on training, Vegeta is caught off guard when Beerus arrives unexpectedly, and he shifts gears to play the role of a gracious host. However, tensions escalate when Beerus becomes irritated, especially after an incident involving Mr. Buu, leading Vegeta to challenge Beerus to a fight. Despite putting up a fierce effort driven by rage, Vegeta is ultimately no match for Beerus, who effortlessly defeats him. Just as Beerus is about to deliver a finishing blow, Bulma intervenes, confronting Beerus and even slapping him when he strikes her in return. Witnessing Bulma's courage and standing up for her sparks an unprecedented rage in Vegeta, fueling a surge in his power that momentarily impresses even Master Roshi.

Vegeta's outburst underscores his deep love and protectiveness for Bulma, showcasing a side of him rarely seen. However, Beerus quickly recovers, dampening Vegeta's brief moment of triumph. Later, Vegeta assists Goku in achieving the Super Saiyan God form, acknowledging Goku's role as the lead fighter in this new challenge.

The aftermath sees a humorous exchange where Goku teases Vegeta about his emotional outburst ("My Bulmaaa!!"), to which Vegeta denies the sentimentality but claims superiority over Goku in that moment. This leads to Goku jokingly suggesting Bulma should slap him next time to trigger such power, which earns Goku another slap from Bulma and the ire of both Vegeta and those present.

Resurrection "F"

Vegeta continues to train with Whis. In "Resurrection 'F'," after training with Whis alongside Goku, Vegeta is actively involved in the events surrounding Frieza's resurrection and revenge plot.

Initially, Vegeta joins Goku in sparring sessions with Whis on Beerus' Planet, where Whis identifies Vegeta's need to relax more and loosen up. Their training is interrupted when Beerus, awakened by their sparring, accidentally fires a ki blast in their direction, prompting them to evade narrowly.

When news arrives that Frieza has been revived and poses a new threat to Earth, Vegeta joins the battle against the tyrant. Watching Goku initially fight Frieza, Vegeta becomes frustrated when Goku seems to hog the fight, as they had agreed to take turns. Despite his anger, Vegeta holds back, waiting for his chance to confront Frieza.

After Goku is defeated by Frieza, the tyrant offers Vegeta the position of supreme commander in the Frieza Force if he kills Goku. Vegeta, driven by his desire for revenge against Frieza for destroying Planet Vegeta, refuses and instead aids Goku by instructing Krillin to give him a Senzu Bean.

When Frieza targets Krillin with a lethal blast, Vegeta intervenes, blocking the attack and inadvertently killing Frieza's henchman, Sorbet. Enraged, Vegeta transforms into Super Saiyan Blue (Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan) and engages Frieza in battle, overpowering him in his initial form.

However, Frieza resorts to destroying the Earth in retaliation, killing Vegeta and everyone else on the planet. Yet, thanks to Whis's ability to manipulate time, the destruction is reversed, and Vegeta's death is undone. Goku then steps in and ultimately defeats Frieza with a decisive Kamehameha.

Afterward, Vegeta expresses frustration at Goku for stealing his moment to defeat Frieza, highlighting their competitive dynamic. Goku suggests they should team up next time, but Vegeta declines, opting to continue his training under Whis's tutelage separately.

Universe 6 Saga

In the "Universe 6 Saga," Vegeta's journey continues with significant developments and battles:

  1. Training with Goku and Whis: Vegeta and Goku spar on Beerus' planet under Whis's supervision. Vegeta gets upset when Goku uses Instant Transmission during their match, leading to a clash where both transform into Super Saiyan Blue. Whis intervenes, reminding them that transformations are forbidden during training, and they're punished with heavy suits.
  2. Introduction of Champa and Vados: Champa, Beerus' twin brother and Universe 6's God of Destruction, visits Beerus' planet with Vados. They reveal Universe 6's existence, including a counterpart Earth and Saiyans from Planet Sadala.
  3. The Tournament Between Universes: Champa proposes a tournament between Universe 6 and Universe 7, where the winner gets to use the Super Dragon Balls. Vegeta, Goku, Piccolo, and others join Beerus' team. Vegeta suggests Gohan, but Goku declines due to Gohan's focus on studies.
  4. Preparation and Journey to the Tournament: Vegeta and Goku train intensely in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for three years (three days in real time). They then prepare with Bulma's help, using a new Dragon Radar to locate the Nameless Planet.
  5. Encounter with Universe 6 Fighters: At the tournament, Vegeta meets Cabba, a Saiyan from Universe 6. He learns about Cabba's home planet, Sadala, and the differences between their universes' Saiyans. Vegeta is surprised and intrigued by Cabba's existence.
  6. Vegeta's Fights in the Tournament: Vegeta battles various opponents, including Frost, Magetta, and Cabba. He defeats Frost after discovering his cheating and later encourages Cabba to transform into a Super Saiyan, helping Cabba discover his hidden potential.
  7. Battle Against Hit: Vegeta faces Hit, Universe 6's legendary assassin. Despite his best efforts, Vegeta is outmatched and unable to land a single blow. He witnesses Goku's intense battle with Hit, including Goku's use of Kaio-Ken, which surprises and frustrates him due to Goku's rapid improvement.
  8. Zeno's Appearance: When Zeno, the Omni-King, arrives, Vegeta is shocked to learn about his role in governing all universes. He witnesses Goku's interactions with Zeno and Cabba referring to him as a mentor, which annoys Vegeta.

Copy-Vegeta Saga

When Vegeta returns to Earth, he joins Bulma's party and is particularly adamant about ensuring there's enough food and not provoking Beerus. When Bulma criticizes Monaka's weakness, Vegeta defends Beerus, explaining Monaka's role was to motivate Goku and him to train harder, although he privately didn't care much about Monaka. During Goku's mock fight with "Monaka" (Beerus in disguise), Vegeta and Piccolo intervene due to Beerus' tail sticking out of the costume. Piccolo obstructs Goku's view with his cloak while Vegeta helps Beerus adjust his outfit. Pretending Monaka has control over him, Vegeta charges at Goku while Piccolo restrains him. After Beerus fixes his costume and re-enters the match, Whis stops the fight.

Later, when Goten and Trunks get trapped in Monaka's delivery truck heading to Planet Potaufeu, Bulma discovers this via surveillance footage and orders Jaco to rescue them. Vegeta initially blames Bulma for ordering from Monaka, but retreats when she gets angry. Despite his irritation, Vegeta accompanies Jaco and arrives just in time to save Trunks from an attack. After learning about Commeson's ability to drain and replicate his power, Vegeta faces Copy-Gryll's copies and is absorbed, creating Duplicate Vegeta. Helpless due to his drained power, Vegeta attempts a Galick Gun but fails, surprised when Duplicate Vegeta fires one instead. As his transparency increases, Potage suggests chewing a sealing pacifier to buy time. During the ensuing battle, Vegeta watches Goku fight Duplicate Vegeta, alternating between frustration and support for both fighters. He ultimately urges Goku to defeat Duplicate Vegeta, even as his own existence fades due to Commeson's effects.

When Goku and Duplicate Vegeta escalate to Super Saiyan Blue, Vegeta continues to weaken, despite Potage's attempt to seal Commeson. As Goku eliminates Duplicate Vegeta with a God Kamehameha, Vegeta nearly vanishes, saved only by Goku's swift action. Afterward, Trunks embraces Vegeta in relief, grateful his father survived. As Potage seals Commeson away, Goku humorously questions Vegeta about the pacifier, embarrassing him further. Vegeta insists he had no idea, mortified at the misunderstanding, but Goku lightens the mood, and they both reflect while watching the sunset.

Future Trunks Saga

Vegeta and Goku discuss the ramen they enjoyed with Beerus and Whis on Beerus' planet, interrupted when Whis receives a distress call from Bulma showing them a severely injured and unconscious Future Trunks, who barely escaped his devastated timeline. They teleport to Earth, where Vegeta instructs Goku to fetch Senzu Beans from Korin Tower. After Future Trunks is revived by a Senzu Bean, he unexpectedly attacks Goku upon waking, shocking everyone. Bulma slaps him to bring him to his senses. As Trunks retrieves his sword, Vegeta suggests he doesn't need it, but Trunks insists it gives him comfort. Future Trunks explains Goku Black's threat and how he fled to their timeline, prompting Vegeta to criticize him for abandoning his fight as a Saiyan.

Interrupted by Bulma revealing a message from Future Trunks' time machine notebook, Goku and Vegeta decide to travel to the future to confront Goku Black. Krillin and Piccolo arrive shortly after. A thunderstorm heralds Black's arrival through a portal, leading to a confrontation where Vegeta stops Future Trunks from attacking. They observe Goku's battle with Black, with Vegeta explaining Goku's tendency to hold back initially. When the Time Ring pulls Black back, he destroys the time machine and escapes to the future. Vegeta encourages Future Trunks not to lose hope despite the setback.

When Goku asks about Black's strength, Future Trunks admits he's not strong enough to challenge Goku, prompting Vegeta to assert their superior strength. Bulma presents Cell's time machine from the future, hoping it can be repaired for their mission. Vegeta intensifies his training in the gravity chamber and vows revenge against Black for Future Bulma's death and Future Trunks' suffering. Upon Goku's return from Universe 10, Vegeta decides to train Future Trunks. As Trunks transforms into Super Saiyan 2, he requests Vegeta not to hold back and even suggests transforming into Super Saiyan 3 like Goku, but Vegeta surprises him by transforming into Super Saiyan Blue instead.

Vegeta challenges Future Trunks to land a single blow on him, disappointed when Trunks resorts to Super Saiyan Third Grade. However, he realizes Trunks used it as a feint, powering down just as Vegeta attacks. As Vegeta dominates the fight, Future Trunks smirks and lands a blow on him, declaring his determination to surpass Black and even Vegeta himself. Despite scoffing at the claim, Vegeta leaves impressed, and Future Trunks bows in gratitude.

In the manga version, these events unfold differently from the anime. Unlike in the anime where Black destroys Trunks' time machine, in the manga, they await its refueling. During this downtime, the Z Fighters engage in a racing video game, with Vegeta notably finishing last. Subsequently, Vegeta takes on the role of training Future Trunks in a gravity chamber.

Upon fixing the time machine in the anime, Goku, Vegeta, and Future Trunks travel to the future. There, Vegeta and Goku are taken aback by the devastation while Future Trunks discovers Future Mai's hat. As they investigate, Goku is mistaken for Black and shot at by the resistance, but the confusion is quickly cleared up. Vegeta meets Future Mai and other survivors and insists on facing Black first. When Black confronts them, Vegeta immediately powers up to Super Saiyan Blue, earning Black's acknowledgment as reaching the level of gods. However, Black's speed catches Vegeta off guard, and their battle intensifies until Black transforms into Super Saiyan Rosé.

Vegeta launches an assault, but Black easily evades and counterattacks, eventually using an aura blade to fatally wound Vegeta. Even in Super Saiyan Blue, Vegeta is stunned to be considered a mere warm-up. Unconscious for much of the ensuing conflict between Goku, Future Trunks, Black, and Future Zamasu, Vegeta briefly awakens to witness Future Zamasu's arrival and later intervenes to save Goku and Future Trunks. After Earth's Resistance distracts Black and Future Zamasu, Future Mai rescues the unconscious Vegeta, Goku, and Future Trunks, returning them to the past.

In contrast, in the manga version, upon arriving in the future, they rescue Future Mai without encountering other resistance members. Vegeta insists on facing Goku Black first and begins the fight in Super Saiyan 2. Black matches him by transforming into a Super Saiyan but struggles against Vegeta's enhanced power. Vegeta escalates to Super Saiyan Blue, overwhelming Goku Black. However, just as Vegeta prepares to deliver a finishing blow with his God Final Flash, Zamasu intervenes, saving Black and healing him, setting the stage for further confrontations. While Goku joins Beerus and Whis on a journey to Universe 10, Vegeta remains at Capsule Corp, intensively training in the Gravity Chamber. Upon their return to the alternate timeline, accompanied by Bulma this time, they confront Goku Black and Future Zamasu once more. Goku Black reveals his true identity as Zamasu from another timeline, who has taken over Goku's body and killed him. Despite their efforts, the Saiyans are defeated once again, provoking Future Trunks to transform into a new, formidable form that enables him to confront their adversaries alone. Vegeta, Goku, and Bulma retreat to the past to strategize. Back in the past, inspired by Piccolo's suggestion of using the Evil Containment Wave, Goku decides to re-enter the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for a fourth session, equivalent to half a day (about six months) of training, while the Time Machine recharges.

In the anime, after their training, Vegeta, Goku, and Bulma return to find Future Trunks' energy fading, and they are immediately confronted by Future Zamasu and Goku Black. Before they can engage in battle, Gowasu and Shin arrive from the present via a Time Ring. Vegeta and Goku protect Gowasu and Shin from the malevolent duo and engage in battle. Vegeta gains the upper hand against Goku Black, landing powerful blows due to his enhanced strength. He mocks Goku Black, asserting his rightful claim to Goku's body, developed through countless battles.

Vegeta continues to power up, exchanging fierce blows with Black. Despite his dominance, Black warns Vegeta that he is merely an "appetizer." As Vegeta unleashes a massive blast, taunting Black to face him openly, Black summons a scythe and creates a dark rift in the universe. The battle intensifies further as Black duplicates himself, prompting Vegeta and Goku to unleash a barrage of Ki Blasts against the clones, inadvertently multiplying their adversaries. In the showdown against Goku Black and Zamasu, Vegeta urges Goku to use Instant Transmission after learning of Zamasu's plan to kill everyone. Trunks later employs the Evil Containment Wave on Zamasu, confusing Goku Black, who uses Instant Transmission to join Zamasu, temporarily closing the rift and enabling Goku to learn the technique. While Vegeta checks on their allies, he resolves with Goku to confront Goku Black and Zamasu. Witnessing their fusion into Fused Zamasu, Vegeta prepares for the escalating battle. In the manga adaptation, Vegeta arrives in the future alongside Goku and engages Goku Black, who transforms into Super Saiyan Rosé. Unexpectedly, Vegeta counters with Super Saiyan God, gaining the upper hand. Goku reveals Vegeta's strategy of alternating between Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue for offense and defense. Their battle is interrupted by the shocking fusion of Goku Black and Future Zamasu into Fused Zamasu.

In the anime, Vegeta observes Fused Zamasu's newfound power and strategizes to protect Bulma and Mai. He, along with Goku, fends off Fused Zamasu's powerful attacks, causing tremors on the Earth. Determined, Vegeta vows never to forgive Zamasu and confronts the arrogant fusion. After enduring Fused Zamasu's Wall of Light and Lightning of Absolution, Vegeta powers up, asserting Saiyans know no limits. At full strength, Vegeta and Goku charge through Fused Zamasu's defenses, ultimately destroying the Wall of Light. Goku Black reveals Zamasu's plan to eliminate everyone, prompting Vegeta to angrily urge Goku to take action. They fly towards Fused Zamasu again, only to have their attacks blocked by his hands. Fused Zamasu declares touching a god to be Goku and Vegeta's sin, releasing dark energy that injures them. He throws them down and unleashes Blades of Judgement. Seeing Goku and Vegeta hurt, Future Trunks arrives and powers up. After a fierce battle, Future Trunks fires a Galick Gun at Fused Zamasu's energy blast. Vegeta joins his son in a Father-Son Galick Gun, pushing back Zamasu's attack but failing to harm him, leading to Zamasu retaliating with Absolute Lightning. Vegeta shields Trunks, taking the hit and injuring himself. Under Future Trunks' care, Vegeta recuperates while Goku briefly halts Fused Zamasu's assault. In both manga and anime, Goku suggests using Potara fusion with Vegeta, surprising him. Initially refusing, Vegeta relents after eating a Senzu Bean and dons a Potara, becoming Vegito. After Vegito's Final Kamehameha, the fusion unexpectedly ends, leaving them vulnerable to Fused Zamasu's counterattack.

Goku and Vegeta watch as Future Trunks battles Zamasu, witnessing Trunks defeat him with the Sword of Hope. In the manga, Vegeta is knocked away by Fused Zamasu, who starts torturing Goku. Future Trunks tries to heal Vegeta, but Vegeta insists on healing Goku instead, revealing he learned Goku's mastery of Super Saiyan Blue while fused. Vegeta uses a weaker Final Explosion to break free from Zamasu's grasp but is beaten until Goku intervenes. Shin rescues Vegeta while Goku confronts Fused Zamasu alone.

After celebrating, they discover Zamasu's lingering will, becoming a universe-spanning threat. Goku calls Future Zeno to erase Zamasu, inadvertently erasing Trunks' timeline's entire multiverse. They return to their timeline as Future Trunks and Mai prepare to depart. Vegeta tests Trunks' strength with a spar, smiling as Trunks easily blocks his attack, bidding farewell.

Later, Vegeta trains alone on Beerus' planet under Whis's guidance, frustrated at being unable to touch him. Beerus interrupts, concerned why Goku isn't training for Zeno's tournament, insisting Goku is Universe 7's strongest. Jealous and annoyed, Vegeta demands to take Goku's place in training. Whis declines, noting Vegeta struggles with Goku's warm-up exercises, sparking Vegeta to charge in Super Saiyan Blue, failing to meet Whis's expectations.

Suspicious of Goku's activities, Vegeta tricks Beerus and Whis to Earth, witnessing Goku and Hit's fight. Confronting Goku, Vegeta questions if Goku preferred fighting Hit over him, learning someone targeted Goku for assassination. Vegeta deduces Goku arranged the hit to rematch Hit.

When Goku and Goten seek a sparring partner, Goten mentions Vegeta is too occupied, likely due to Bulma's pregnancy, causing him to forgo training. Sent into a forest with Krillin, illusions of former villains appear, including an evil version of Vegeta. Goku reminds Krillin they're illusions and attempts to strike the fake Vegeta, only to be countered and knocked into a rock.

Universe Survival Saga

Months later, Vegeta anxiously awaits the impending birth of his second child. Goku arrives and invites him to Zeno's Tournament, but Vegeta declines, opting to stay with Bulma until she gives birth. Goku and later Whis are puzzled by Vegeta's decision. After Goku returns from training with Whis and discussing with Zeno about the tournament, he asks Vegeta to participate in the exhibition matches requested by Future Zeno. Once again, Vegeta refuses, prompting Goku to ask Gohan instead.

In the manga, Vegeta assists with the laundry, remarking that his body is moving automatically, while Bulma looks on in confusion. He keeps a vigilant watch over Bulma as she exercises in the gravity room, concerned that she might be exerting herself too much. Vegeta worries about his own potential decline in strength due to lack of training. Goten asks him if he's excited about the baby, but Vegeta replies that he's staying by Bulma's side on her orders. Later, Vegeta contemplates a suitable royal Saiyan name for the infant.

Deciding on "Eschalot," Vegeta is interrupted by Goku's return, who updates him on the Zeno Expo events and the impending battle royal in two days. Although intrigued, Vegeta remains reluctant to participate unless they can persuade Bulma to agree. Whis accelerates Bulma's labor, swiftly delivering the baby, relieving Vegeta of his concerns and allowing him to enter the tournament. Seeing Bulma with their newborn daughter, Vegeta quickly develops affection for the baby.

Vegeta initially keeps his distance as everyone bonds with the baby girl. He becomes enraged and transforms into Super Saiyan Blue when Hercule and Yamcha accidentally make her cry. Trunks asks Vegeta to hold the baby, and Vegeta agrees after criticizing Trunks' handling. Despite trying to appear indifferent, Vegeta clearly adores the baby as he holds her. He prepares to name her when Bulma decides on "Bulla," which disappoints Vegeta, who wanted a stronger Saiyan name. He eventually relents. Later, he gets annoyed at Beerus and Whis for lounging around Capsule Corp., reminding them it's not a hotel.

The next day, Trunks interrupts Vegeta as he struggles to change Bulla's diaper. Vegeta effortlessly handles the task, stopping Bulla's crying, and smiles at his daughter.

In the manga, Vegeta agrees to join the tournament without much argument and participates in strategy discussions with Beerus, Whis, and Shin. When Buu is found in hibernation, Vegeta proposes replacing him with Gohan, confident in Gohan's potential if he regains his fighting senses in time. Despite Beerus' objections, Vegeta stands firm on his choice of Gohan, displaying unusual faith in him.

Vegeta heads to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for last-minute training, warned by Mr. Popo not to destroy it again under threat of being banned. Vegeta ignores the warning and returns to Capsule Corp. Gohan later reveals the truth about Universe 7's erasure if they lose. Goku offers to pay everyone, but Vegeta jokes that Chi-Chi controls their finances. When Goku suggests recruiting Frieza, Vegeta vehemently refuses and warns against using the Dragon Balls to revive him. Despite Vegeta's unease, Whis rationalizes that Frieza's resurrection pales in comparison to their current crisis.

When Trunks questions Frieza's picture on the team board, Vegeta covers up by claiming Frieza has been redeemed, supporting Bulma's lie about everyone being invited to Bulla's celebration. Vegeta and Bulma express irritation at Goku for using Trunks as leverage to convince Android 17 to join the tournament.

When Goku returns to Capsule Corp. with Frieza, Vegeta positions himself in front of Bulma and mocks how the angel's halo suits Frieza, who responds with a retort about giving Vegeta a halo. Beerus and Goku intervene, urging them to cease provoking each other. Vegeta adamantly opposes the plan for teamwork, insisting they should target the strongest opponents first, which prompts Frieza to mock him. Ready to retaliate, Vegeta is reminded by Piccolo that his children will be erased if Universe 7 loses. Shin explains a strategy to attack as a cohesive unit, but Vegeta sides with Goku, dismissing group tactics as cowardice, asserting that Saiyans never rely on numbers. He maintains his animosity towards Frieza, refusing to engage in a "friendship circle" as the team prepares to depart, reluctantly ending up holding hands with Beerus.

Upon arriving at the Null Realm, Cabba greets Vegeta, introducing him to Caulifla and Kale. Caulifla taunts the Saiyans for showing fear of Jiren, which irks Vegeta. The Great Priest emerges and reiterates the tournament rules. Gohan reviews the team's strategy, which Vegeta finds tedious. With both Zenos eager to start, the Tournament of Power commences.

Initially sticking with his team despite his reservations about the plan, Vegeta eventually splits off like Goku and the Androids to engage opponents on his own. He is seen repeatedly striking Hyssop, who defends with crossed arms.

Vegeta shifts focus to other fighters like Nigrissi and Obni, noticing the Trio of Danger overpowering Goku. He intervenes, assisting Goku against the Dangers' Triangle attack. After breaking free from their assault, Vegeta creates a ki barrier to evade Lavender's poison and repels him. He confronts Hop, who uses agility and claws, forcing Vegeta to dodge and block attacks. Despite being frozen briefly by Hyssop, Vegeta easily breaks free and eliminates Hop with his Amazing Impact, knocking her off the stage. Oregano tries to ensnare him with threads, but Vegeta transforms into Super Saiyan, breaks free, and defeats Hyssop and Oregano with a powerful ki blast. He then battles Lavender and Basil, the remaining Universe 9 members, overpowering Lavender's poison attempt. When the Trio De Dangers combine their Triangle Danger Beam, Vegeta joins forces with Goku in Super Saiyan Blue, combining their Final Flash and Kamehameha to eliminate them, resulting in Universe 9's erasure by the Zenos.

As the tournament continues, Vegeta seeks out Hit in Super Saiyan form to settle their previous tournament encounter, but his attack is intercepted by Botamo. Despite relentless punches, Vegeta's attempts to throw Botamo are thwarted until Auta Magetta intervenes. Facing both fighters, Vegeta initially tries verbal attacks but is surprised when Botamo and Magetta fuse into Bota Magetta. Annoyed by their tactic, Vegeta confronts them, labeling their cooperation as laughable.

He continued to battle the two, relying on agility to dodge their attacks until he managed to evade them. Afterwards, Cabba approached him, proposing a fight after witnessing Vegeta effortlessly defeat Nigrissi and Murisam simultaneously. Their attention was drawn to Kale's transformation into the Legendary Super Saiyan before their duel began. Vegeta later observed Goku's confrontation with Kale, speculating to Goku that it might be a Saiyan's true form as Kale unleashed devastation across the arena. Taking cover from Kale's energy barrage along with other competitors, Vegeta perched on a newly formed rubble platform in the air, labeling her a monster after her rampage. Upon regrouping with Team Universe 7, he noticed Frieza had defeated Murichim, expressing displeasure at Frieza stealing his target.

Later, Vegeta joined Goku and Android 17 in facing the Kamikaze Fireballs. He launched a blast that dispersed the pink-colored gas shrouding the tournament ring, disappointed by Universe 2's minimal power increase. Engaging Brianne de Chateau in combat, Vegeta acknowledged the effectiveness of their transformation beyond mere spectacle. Brianne attempted an attack where she transformed into a ball and hurled herself at Vegeta, but he instinctively dodged due to her unsettling appearance.

Vegeta and Goku encountered Tien investigating Dr. Rota's unconscious body, only to be attacked by a sniper. Dodging the attack, Vegeta criticized the sniper as dishonorable. They watched Gohan and Piccolo under attack, Goku identifying Prum's strategy of reflecting attacks. Joining forces to eliminate Prum, Vegeta charged a Galick Gun while Goku prepared a Kamehameha, destroying Prum's position. Frustrated with Prum's tactics, Vegeta resorted to throwing rocks, prompting Goku to follow suit. After Hermila's elimination, they cornered Prum, who attempted to flee but was tackled by Dr. Rota. Vegeta finished both off with another Galick Gun, annoyed by their tactics. Goku informed Vegeta of their team's losses before they departed together.

During his fight with Roshi, Vegeta observed the tournament, prompting Frost to shoot a Chaos Beam at him, which Vegeta deflected. He saved Roshi from elimination, motivated solely by Frost's provocation. Frost stalled for Auta Magetta's arrival with lies, which Vegeta dismissed. Engaging both Frost and Magetta, Vegeta witnessed Roshi's failed Evil Containment Wave, redirected by Frost towards him, sealing him temporarily in a jar. Freed by Roshi, Vegeta transformed into Super Saiyan Blue, destroying one of Magetta's ear covers and taunting him into forfeiting. As Vegeta prepared to attack Frost, the latter used a Ki Smoke Bomb to escape. Vegeta then kicked Magetta off the stage and advised Roshi to retire, offering him a Senzu Bean before departing.

Observing Goku's battle with Jiren, Vegeta, like other fighters, was astounded by Jiren's overwhelming power. Refusing to donate energy to Goku's Spirit Bomb due to pride, Vegeta noticed Ribrianne targeting Goku with a Pretty Cannon, blasting her away to protect Goku. Engaging Brianne again during the Spirit Bomb exchange, Vegeta remained perplexed by Goku's power surge and precision. After Goku was defeated by Jiren and lay weakened, Vegeta approached him, questioning how Goku achieved such power, to which Goku had no answer. Advising Goku to recover quickly, Vegeta left to return to the battlefield without further words.

When Cabba finds himself overpowered and on the brink of falling out of the arena under Monna's assault, Vegeta seizes his hand and pulls him to safety. Despite Cabba's gratitude and bow of thanks, Vegeta delivers a knee to his gut, coldly asserting that he didn't save Cabba out of kindness but because he couldn't bear to witness a weak Saiyan. Reminding Cabba of their agreement to introduce him to the Universe 6 Saiyan King, Vegeta dismisses Cabba's concerns about universe erasure, promising to use the Super Dragon Balls to revive their universes after the tournament. Encouraging Cabba to fight with Saiyan pride, Vegeta leaves him to face Monna alone.

Turning his attention to Jiren, who is meditating nearby, Vegeta is intercepted by Top before he can engage. Top challenges Vegeta to a fight, but Vegeta initially shows disinterest, stating he has no desire to battle Universe 11's second strongest fighter. Top's remark that Vegeta is also Universe 7's second strongest provokes Vegeta into combat. They spar evenly for a time, but Vegeta's focus is disrupted by the ongoing battle between Caulifla, Kale, and Goku, particularly after they fuse into Kefla. Top exploits this distraction, suggesting Vegeta watch from the sidelines if he's so preoccupied, locking Vegeta in a painful hold. Overcoming the pain, Vegeta elbows Top, briefly incapacitating him. As Vegeta observes Goku's fight against Kefla, he realizes Goku has achieved Ultra Instinct, further fueling his determination to master it before Goku does.

Frustrated by Goku's newfound power, Vegeta roams the battlefield, venting his frustration until he encounters Catopesra from Universe 3. Catopesra switches to his Battle Mode to increase his attack power, prompting Vegeta to close his eyes and attempt to tap into Ultra Instinct. However, Catopesra catches Vegeta off guard with a punch, thwarting his attempt. Vegeta abandons his effort to attain Ultra Instinct and retaliates fiercely, overwhelming Catopesra with a series of devastating blows. Despite Whis realizing Vegeta's futile attempt to achieve Ultra Instinct due to his always-thinking nature, Vegeta persists in battling Team Universe 3's remaining warriors.

In the ensuing conflict against Team Universe 3, Vegeta initially leaves the fight to Gohan but is forced to intervene when circumstances demand it. He faces the challenge of the giant Agnilasa, initially struggling but ultimately contributing to its defeat through coordinated efforts with his universe's fighters.

After Universe 3 is erased, Vegeta and the remaining members of Team Universe 7 confront Team Universe 11. Interrupting Goku's battle with Jiren, Vegeta sets his sights on defeating Jiren himself. Despite initially catching on to Jiren's movements, Vegeta finds himself overwhelmed and nearly knocked off the stage. Barely surviving, Vegeta responds to Jiren's critique of his arrogance by asserting his refusal to run from his true self. Instead of relying on Ultra Instinct, Vegeta vows to find his own path to victory. Gathering his resolve, Vegeta dramatically increases his power and unleashes a Final Flash. Initially appearing victorious, Vegeta's attack proves ineffective as Jiren emerges unscathed and severely injures Vegeta in return.

Despite his injuries, Vegeta eventually taps into a new form of Super Saiyan. Joining forces with Goku, they launch a coordinated assault on Jiren, catching him off guard with their synchronized attacks.

As Vegeta continues his battle with Jiren, the latter assigns Top, now transformed into a God of Destruction, to fight Vegeta. Initially struggling against Top, Vegeta questions whether he is facing the same warrior as before. Top gains the upper hand, knocking Vegeta back and criticizing him for carrying what he deems "unnecessary" traits. This criticism infuriates Vegeta, who defiantly asserts that he never discards anything. Channeling his energy, Vegeta dissipates Top's attack with his aura and launches a furious counterattack. Berating Top for his failures, Vegeta unleashes a Final Explosion, breaking through Top's Hakai and eliminating him from the ring, which is now partially destroyed. Surviving the aftermath of his own attack, Vegeta is left severely drained but ready to face Jiren alongside Goku and Android 17.

Despite their combined efforts, Jiren remains formidable and overwhelms Goku and Vegeta with his unmatched strength. He dismissively asserts to Android 17 that "strength is absolute" during their confrontation. As the battle intensifies, Goku and Vegeta exhaust their stamina and collapse, leaving them vulnerable to Jiren's final assault. Android 17 sacrifices himself to shield Goku and Vegeta, fueling Vegeta's resolve to face Jiren alone despite the odds against him.

Throughout their one-sided battle, Jiren questions Vegeta's determination to continue fighting despite being outmatched. Undeterred, Vegeta presses his attacks but is ultimately overpowered by Jiren. Acknowledging Vegeta's unwavering pride, Jiren delivers a final blow, prompting Vegeta to apologize inwardly to Bulma and Cabba before offering the last of his energy to Goku for the fight.

Witnessing Vegeta's resilience, Beerus, Whis, Gohan, and Roshi commend his tenacity and courage, with Beerus acknowledging Vegeta's commendable effort. Vegeta responds with a smirk of acceptance despite his defeat.

After the Tournament of Power concludes and Universe 7 emerges victorious, with erased universes restored by Android 17 using the Super Dragon Balls, Vegeta returns to Capsule Corp. Bulma tearfully embraces him while he holds Bulla. During the celebratory gathering, Vegeta beams proudly at his daughter but becomes agitated when Pan playfully hits him in the face while flying. This prompts Vegeta to challenge Goku to a rematch at their original sparring grounds. Goku admits he can no longer access Ultra Instinct, while Vegeta declares his resolve to achieve an even greater power. With determination renewed, the two Saiyans begin their rematch, driven by their eternal rivalry.

Broly

By Age 732, Vegeta is an infant kept in an incubator among other babies destined to become elite warriors. King Vegeta checks on his son and marvels at Vegeta's astonishing power level, which continues to grow stronger over time. King Vegeta envisions a future where Vegeta will succeed him as the next King of the Saiyans, overthrow the tyrant Frieza, and lead the Saiyans to independence from Frieza's rule over the universe.

Five years later, while on a mission on another planet with Saiyan comrades including Raditz and Nappa, Vegeta receives news that Planet Vegeta has been destroyed by a meteor. Raditz remarks that they were fortunate to have ignored Frieza's orders to return, but Vegeta is devastated, realizing he will never inherit the title of King Vegeta. Nappa asks about Vegeta's brother, and Vegeta acknowledges having a brother, but fears he may have perished along with the others.

In the present time, Vegeta spars with Goku near Bulma's summer home, watched by Bulma and Bulla. They pause their training to join the others for a meal. When Whis asks Goku about seeking greater strength, Vegeta interrupts, criticizing Goku for seeking new challenges even after the Tournament of Power. Vegeta declares his own goal to surpass Frieza, expressing anger at Goku for reviving Frieza, whom he considers a potential threat.

Later, Trunks alerts Bulma through her wristwatch that the Dragon Balls have been stolen. Trunks shows surveillance footage revealing the burglars in armor similar to what Vegeta wore in the past, confirming they are Frieza's soldiers. They deduce Frieza's plan and decide to head to the Ice Continent to retrieve the last Dragon Ball.

Upon arrival, Bulma spots the burglars, prompting Goku and Vegeta to confront them. The burglars recognize them as Saiyans and attempt to flee, but Vegeta swiftly disables them with energy blasts. Sensing approaching power, Goku and Vegeta realize Frieza is nearby, accompanied by Broly and Paragus. Vegeta identifies them as Saiyans, and Paragus recognizes Vegeta as King Vegeta's son, harboring resentment due to King Vegeta's actions against Broly.

Paragus commands Broly to attack Vegeta, leading to a fierce battle. Vegeta initially fights evenly with Broly until he transforms into a Super Saiyan. Broly adapts to Vegeta's power, forcing Vegeta on the defensive. The fight intensifies, with Broly overwhelming Vegeta, pushing him through ice mountains. Vegeta retreats, seeking divine ki, and ascends to Super Saiyan God, regaining the upper hand.

Vegeta launches attacks at Broly, who struggles against his newfound power. Vegeta dodges Broly's assaults effortlessly, eventually landing a decisive blow that sends Broly crashing through mountains. Vegeta prepares a God Heat Flash to finish Broly, against Goku's advice, but the attack fails to defeat him. Broly awakens his Wrathful form, escalating the battle's intensity.

Vegeta finds himself pressured as Broly powers up further. Goku joins the fight, and Vegeta decides to aid Goku against Broly. Transforming into Super Saiyan Blue, Vegeta and Goku launch a Galick Kamehameha at Broly, but he easily deflects it, forcing them to retreat. Broly turns his attention to Frieza, allowing Goku to teleport Vegeta away using Instant Transmission.

At Piccolo's location, Goku asks Vegeta if he knows the Fusion Technique. Initially reluctant, Vegeta eventually agrees, realizing the gravity of the situation for Bulma and Bulla. After a few failed attempts, Goku and Vegeta successfully fuse into Gogeta. Gogeta confronts Broly, engaging him in an intense battle. Near the climax, Gogeta nearly defeats Broly before Cheelai intervenes, using the Dragon Balls to transport Broly back to Vampa, ending the conflict.

Galactic Prisoner Patrol Saga

After their encounter with Broly, Goku arrives at Capsule Corporation to train with Vegeta in the Gravity Training Room. As they spar, Vegeta queries Goku about Ultra Instinct, to which Goku admits he hasn't been able to replicate it since the Tournament of Power. Vegeta dismisses its usefulness if Goku can't master it consistently. Undeterred, Goku resolves to continue training rigorously until he can access it again. Their session is interrupted by Bulma's urgent call from Mr. Satan, reporting a gang attempting to kidnap Buu. Preferring to handle it alone, Vegeta swiftly flies to Satan City, only to be incapacitated by Merus' Stun Gun. He wakes aboard the Galactic Patrol Headquarters, where he learns about Moro, a dangerous fugitive who has escaped from Galactic Prison, necessitating the Grand Supreme Kai inside Buu to stop him.

Before joining the Galactic Patrol, Goku and Vegeta discuss their recent encounter with Broly and their fusion into Gogeta to defeat him with Merus and Jaco.

Upon accepting temporary membership in the Galactic Patrol, Goku and Vegeta accompany Merus to Planet Jung to apprehend the Macareni gang attempting to steal Blue Aurum. Vegeta observes Merus' abilities and questions if he held back his power, learning Merus cannot single-handedly capture Moro.

In pursuit of Moro, Goku transports himself and Vegeta to New Namek using Instant Transmission, anticipating Moro's arrival. Upon Moro's appearance, Vegeta taunts him as feeble. When Moro attempts to ensnare a young Namekian named Esca, Vegeta intervenes, vowing to protect them from further harm. He engages Moro in battle first as a Super Saiyan, then elevates to Super Saiyan God, gaining an initial advantage. Moro, however, taps into the planet's life energy, forcing Vegeta to use Super Saiyan Blue. Despite their efforts, Moro drains their energy and leaves them defeated.

Rescued by Moori and Esca, Goku and Vegeta recuperate for three days in a nearby house. Sensing Moro's approach, they prepare to confront him again. Before they can act, Merus arrives in a Galactic Patrol spaceship and apprehends Moro with a device. Buu, enraged by Moro's presence, overwhelms him in battle, demonstrating immunity to Moro's energy absorption. However, Cranberry's intervention with Porunga restores Moro's magic, allowing him to escape. Buu restores Goku and Vegeta's energy before they are joined by the Grand Supreme Kai manifesting through Buu.

Goku uses Instant Transmission to transport himself, Vegeta, and Grand Supreme Kai to Moro's location near New Namek's atmosphere. Unable to continue their fight as Moro moves into space, Merus aids Grand Supreme Kai, facilitating Moro's return to New Namek. Moro uses his third wish to free all prisoners from Galactic Prison, empowering them to overpower Goku, Vegeta, and Grand Supreme Kai. With the planet on the brink of destruction, Goku teleports all allies but Vegeta back to Galactic Patrol Headquarters. Vegeta chooses a different path, opting to confront Moro in his own way.

Vegeta boards a Galactic Patrol spaceship piloted by Irico, demanding to be taken to Planet Yardrat upon sensing Moro heading in the opposite direction. Irico informs him it's Saganbo's ship, the fastest he knows. When Vegeta inquires about Saganbo, Irico reminds him of Saganbo's association with Moro, but Vegeta dismisses his strength, comparing it unfavorably to his son Trunks'. Irico estimates a week's travel to Planet Yardrat and questions Vegeta's purpose. Vegeta explains his interest in Yardrats' unique techniques like Instant Transmission, hoping they might aid him against Moro, though he remains skeptical. Vowing to defeat Moro and surpass Goku next time they meet, Vegeta retreats to his quarters.

A week later, Vegeta arrives at Yardrat with Irico, greeted by Yardrats who mistakenly identify Irico as Vegeta due to his resemblance. Corrected, they are led by a Yardrat who reveals himself as the sole member using a cloning technique for security. They meet Elder Pybara, who recognizes Irico as Vegeta before Vegeta clarifies. Vegeta briefs Pybara on Moro's threat and queries techniques to combat him.

Pybara explains the Yardrats focus on Spirit Control, the foundation of their abilities like teleportation and cloning, akin to ki. Intrigued, Vegeta urges Pybara to teach him Spirit Control. Donning Yardrat attire, Vegeta meditates, but impatience grows until he starts training.

Quickly advancing, Vegeta refines his spirit, surpassing Goku's level. As he prepares to learn techniques starting with Instant Transmission, a disturbance by Moro's henchmen interrupts. Vegeta confronts Yuzun and two others, launching a powerful Galick Beam due to his balanced body and spirit. Overcoming them effortlessly, he learns of Moro's impending visit to Earth and requests intensive training from Pybara.

During two months of rigorous training, Vegeta refines his power. When the Galactic Bandit Brigade attacks Earth, Vegeta continues training, insisting on mastering his technique before joining the battle against Moro, who is engaged with Goku. Mastering his new technique, Vegeta demands to be teleported to Earth, but Yardrat rules prohibit it.

Determined, Vegeta learns Instant Transmission himself, confidently teleporting back to Earth, surprising Goku. Declining further training in Instant Transmission, Vegeta claims mastery of a superior technique and announces his readiness to confront Moro. Transforming into Super Saiyan God SS Evolved, Vegeta charges at Moro with intent.

Vegeta strikes Moro in the abdomen, but the damage proves minimal. Moro acknowledges Vegeta's increased strength but dismisses it as insufficient. Undeterred, Vegeta intensifies his assault, causing Moro to struggle as his initial advantage slips away. Goku discerns Vegeta's strategy—Forced Spirit Fission—and Vegeta confirms it. As Vegeta continues his barrage, energy emanates from Moro, coalescing into a sphere overhead. Moro, visibly aged, demands an explanation from Vegeta, who reveals he has liberated Moro's stolen energy and restores the deceased Namekians to life with a gesture. He informs Piccolo he can also restore the Namekians he fused with in the past.

Vegeta relentlessly attacks Moro, expressing disdain for fusions and absorption, insisting on a fair fight and challenging Moro to use his own power. With Moro weakened, Vegeta asks Jaco if Moro should be taken alive or dead; Jaco opts for the latter. Promising to send Moro to Hell, Vegeta confronts Moro, who uses a distraction to flee to his spaceship and absorbs Seven-Three. Vegeta fires a blast but is too late; Moro counters, stunning Vegeta. Below, Goku and the others witness Vegeta crash to the ground, reverting to his base form, as Moro emerges in a new empowered state.

Vegeta swiftly returns in his Super Saiyan God SS Evolved form, vowing to defeat Moro. Despite his efforts, Moro's newfound strength prevents Vegeta from executing Forced Spirit Fission. Moro employs deception to outmaneuver Vegeta, seizing an opportunity to copy Vegeta's abilities. Overpowered, Vegeta is pummeled and knocked out by Moro's Big Bang Attack.

Later, Vegeta and his allies are teleported away from the battlefield and healed by Dende. As Goku engages in a final battle with Moro, now fused with the Earth, Vegeta reappears and uses Forced Spirit Fission to sever Moro's connection to the Earth, causing him to weaken. However, Moro ensnares Goku and drains his power, reverting him to his base state. Piccolo and the others join Vegeta, requesting him to send energy to Goku. Vegeta complies, but it's insufficient until a surge of god power from Uub arrives. Vegeta channels this energy to Goku, enabling him to finally defeat Moro.

Afterward, Vegeta approaches Goku to inquire about the source of his last burst of power, skeptical of Goku's response. He participates in a celebratory feast at Satan House and later visits Galactic Patrol Headquarters with Goku and Buu, where they receive honors and medals for their valor against Moro. Surprised to see Merus revived, Vegeta joins in a commemorative photo with everyone before concluding his time with the Galactic Patrol.

Granolah The Survivor Saga

Goku and Vegeta return to Beerus' Planet to resume their training. Vegeta observes as Goku spars with Whis in his Perfected Ultra Instinct state. During the session, Vegeta asks if Whis is utilizing Ultra Instinct at that moment. Beerus informs him that Angels are always in that state. Curious about mastering Ultra Instinct himself, Vegeta declines Beerus' offer, prompting Beerus to mention another technique used by the Gods of Destruction. Despite Beerus refusing to disclose details, he encourages Vegeta to explore and seize any opportunity that catches his eye.

Beerus questions Vegeta about the Saiyan race's history of destruction. Confused about its relevance to mastering a God of Destruction's technique, Vegeta receives a stark lesson from Beerus. Beerus admits he instructed Frieza to destroy Planet Vegeta, angering Vegeta who retaliates with his Super Saiyan God SS Evolved power. Beerus evades Vegeta's attack and counters with a Hakai, damaging Vegeta's armor. Defeated once more, Beerus advises Vegeta to rebuild himself from scratch, emphasizing that destruction precedes creation. Attempting to demonstrate his new knowledge, Vegeta tries to destroy a small rock with Hakai but instead uses a simple Ki blast.

Later, Vegeta joins Goku and Whis, demonstrating his ability to obliterate a tiny pebble with Hakai, boasting that soon he'll handle larger targets. Upon hearing from the Oracle Fish about the universe's strongest warrior, Vegeta demands answers, but the Oracle Fish remains silent, prompting Vegeta to focus back on training.

Over the following weeks, Vegeta makes substantial strides in his training, now capable of using Hakai to destroy large logs. When Goku and Vegeta agree to accompany the Heeters, Oil, and Macki, in battling a formidable villain on Earth, Beerus gifts Vegeta an earring symbolizing his ability with Hakai, challenging him to surpass even Angelic techniques. They embark on the Heeters' spaceship with 18 days until their destination, where Vegeta continues honing his skills in the ship's swimming pool.

After 18 days of travel, Goku and Vegeta finally touch down on Cereal and swiftly set off in pursuit of Granolah. Almost immediately, they come under attack from a precise barrage of Ki Blasts originating from a distance. Vegeta transforms into a Super Saiyan and charges towards the source of the blasts, only to find it empty upon arrival. Suddenly, Goku is struck from behind in a vital spot and collapses. Vegeta quickly administers a Senzu Bean to Goku, scolding him for relying too heavily on Ultra Instinct. This confrontation marks their first encounter with Granolah, who appears to harbor a deep grudge against Saiyans.

Vegeta offers Goku the initial opportunity to face Granolah and positions himself amidst the wreckage of a ruined city to observe the impending battle. As Goku and Granolah engage in combat, Vegeta begins to harbor suspicions about Granolah's true identity. Exploring the remains of the city, Vegeta discovers a Great Ape footprint, leading him to deduce Granolah's origins.

When Goku joins him, Vegeta explains that the Cerealians, a race known for their evolved right eyes capable of long-range attacks, were annihilated by the Saiyans under Frieza's orders long ago. Realizing that Granolah is the last surviving Cerealian seeking revenge, and that the Heeters deceived them about his true nature, Goku and Vegeta determine that defeating him is the only way to show him that Saiyans are no longer his enemies.

Goku resumes battling Granolah, now using his Perfected Ultra Instinct state, leading Vegeta to believe victory is imminent. However, he notices that Granolah's energy hasn't diminished as expected. Sensing Granolah's power emanating from elsewhere, Vegeta realizes the true nature of the situation.

Granolah reveals that Goku was actually fighting an illusion clone of himself and teleports to Goku's side, striking a pressure point over his heart that momentarily stops it, causing Goku to lose consciousness. Mocking Goku for falling for his deception, Granolah prepares to deliver a fatal ki blast. Before he can execute his plan, Vegeta intervenes, showing no interest in negotiation and declaring his intent to go all out, determined to send Granolah to meet his people in Hell

When Vegeta boasts about his immunity to fusion and clones, Granolah dismisses their usefulness, reserving his strength for a future confrontation with Frieza. Despite Vegeta's assurance that he is no longer allied with Frieza, Granolah remains steadfast in his determination to seek vengeance against all Saiyans. With words proving futile, Vegeta promptly transitions into his Super Saiyan Blue Evolved state, showcasing his newfound destructive capabilities by shattering several rocks around Granolah. Unimpressed, Granolah counters by effortlessly obliterating a larger rock with a Hakai-like technique and delivers a powerful gut punch to Vegeta, leaving him winded.

Despite being thrown off balance, Vegeta retaliates with a close-range ki blast, chasing after Granolah as he dodges the attack. However, Granolah quickly gains the upper hand, delivering a series of devastating blows that send Vegeta crashing into a nearby river. Granolah continues his assault with sniper shots aimed at Vegeta in the water, who narrowly evades them with assistance from Oatmeel. In a decisive move, Granolah unleashes a potent blast directly at Vegeta underwater, confident in its overpowering force. Yet, Vegeta surprises him by not only neutralizing the blast but also emerging from the water, propelled by the resulting shockwave.

Acknowledging Granolah's superior strength and techniques, Vegeta remains resolute in his confidence, taunting Granolah into accidentally destroying part of the ancient Cerealian ruins. Despite acknowledging Granolah's combat prowess, Vegeta highlights the transient nature of rankings in battle, expressing his belief in continuous growth. Infuriated by Vegeta's words, Granolah attempts to finish him off with a pressure point attack that shatters Vegeta's Battle Armor and temporarily reduces him to his base form.

Rather than succumb, Vegeta begins to laugh, relishing a sensation he hasn't felt in ages—the pure joy of combat without the burden of saving planets or protecting people. As Vegeta's aura intensifies, it ignites into a massive blaze that towers above the forest, catching the attention of Oil and Goku. Goku senses an unusual ki signature resembling that of a divine entity, prompting Granolah to fire sniper blasts at Vegeta engulfed in his newfound aura. The blasts are futile, disintegrating upon contact with Vegeta's transformed state, revealing his evolution into a form imbued with the essence of the Destroyer Gods themselves.

Vegeta unleashes a surge of his newfound power towards Granolah. As the dust settles, Vegeta swiftly appears and seizes Granolah by his scarf, asserting that Granolah has become too arrogant and needs to be brought down a notch. He follows up with a barrage of powerful strikes, each landing heavily on Granolah. Despite Granolah retaliating with a blow to Vegeta's stomach, it has minimal effect, with Vegeta boldly stating that he is growing stronger with each passing moment. He hurls Granolah down into the ancient city ruins below, showcasing his enhanced capabilities.

Stunned by Vegeta's elevated prowess, Granolah questions the concept of a God of Destruction. Vegeta educates him about these divine beings and mentions his own teacher who imparted knowledge of this power. Granolah speculates if a God of Destruction granted Vegeta his newfound abilities, but Vegeta clarifies that his power is self-awakened during their ongoing battle.

Their conflict escalates with Granolah launching a barrage of energy blasts at Vegeta, who steadfastly withstands them before charging ahead. In a desperate move, Granolah erects an Energy Shield for defense, prompting Vegeta to scoff at the notion of dodging attacks like Goku does with Ultra Instinct. He belittles Perfected Ultra Instinct as inferior compared to his own abilities, dubbing Granolah's power as "Ultra Ego." Vegeta charges forward with a forceful double kick that shatters Granolah's shield and tears through the cityscape.

Growing increasingly agitated, Granolah vows never to lose to one of Frieza's underlings. Vegeta reveals Frieza's role in devastating Granolah's homeworld, shocking him with this revelation. Despite this revelation, Granolah remains resolute in his quest for vengeance against the Saiyans. When Oatmeel attempts to highlight the inconsistencies in Vegeta's words regarding the Heeters, Granolah dismisses him, declaring independence now that he believes himself to be the strongest being in the universe.

As the battle between Vegeta and Granolah intensifies, it becomes clear that the two are now more evenly matched. Despite this, Vegeta recognizes that he's sustained considerable damage. He launches a powerful Double Galick Cannon, but Granolah endures the onslaught and takes aim at Vegeta. Determined to end the fight, Vegeta powers up and hurls a Sphere of Destruction, boasting that it will obliterate anything it touches. In response, Granolah awakens his second eye, gaining the strength needed to destroy Vegeta's attack, causing a massive tremor across the planet. As the dust settles, Vegeta is left grounded, astonished once again. Granolah expresses his gratitude to Vegeta for pushing him to unleash this newfound power.

Despite their continued struggle, Vegeta finds himself outmatched by Granolah. Falling back to his base form, Vegeta refuses to surrender. Granolah moves in for the final blow, but Goku intervenes, striking Granolah first. Goku pledges to take over the fight, but Vegeta, infuriated, kicks Goku aside, insisting that this battle is his alone. He reminds Goku that they have only ever fought side by side to protect something, and even when Goku argues that his life is at stake, Vegeta adamantly states he'd prefer death over teaming up again. Granolah, unaware of their exchange, charges to strike Vegeta’s heart, but Goku uses a Kiai to push Vegeta out of harm’s way.

As Goku is soon overpowered by Granolah, Vegeta regains his composure and steps back into the fray. He enters his Ultra Ego state for the second time and resumes the fight with Granolah. Their clash brings them into the city where the Sugarians live, and Granolah begs Vegeta to take the battle elsewhere. Vegeta mocks Granolah, suggesting he can't use his rapid-fire attacks in the city. Enraged, Granolah fires at Vegeta at point-blank range, causing significant destruction. A wall collapses, revealing a terrified family inside their home. Vegeta tells Granolah that while the Saiyans may deserve punishment, he's merely repeating the cycle of history. Granolah, angered by Vegeta’s words, uses a Kiai to send Vegeta flying out of the city and approaches for a final, all-out attack.

In a moment of resignation, Vegeta apologizes to Beerus, admitting that he couldn't revert to the warrior he once was and that the power of a God of Destruction was beyond his grasp. Before Granolah can unleash his decisive blow, he is distracted by the sudden arrival of Monaito. This gives Goku the opportunity to knock Granolah down and dissipate his attack, saving Vegeta from imminent destruction.

After Monaito reveals Granolah's backstory and discloses that Bardock, Goku's father, is the reason Granolah is alive today, Vegeta informs Goku that Bardock was indeed his father. Soon after this revelation, Gas appears, having been transformed into the universe's strongest being by Elec, who summoned Toronbo. Gas swiftly defeats Granolah, forcing Goku to step in. He urges Vegeta to retrieve the Senzu Bean hidden in his armor. However, instead of using it himself, Vegeta gives the bean to Granolah, encouraging him to confront Gas with his own strength. As Granolah re-enters the battle against Gas, Vegeta and Goku watch from below.

Granolah initially seems to have the upper hand against Gas, utilizing his superior skills. However, when Elec arrives and removes Gas's necklace, Gas's latent power is unleashed, putting him into a wild and frenzied state. In his rampage, Gas quickly overpowers Granolah and then savagely kicks Vegeta, incapacitating him. Despite his injuries, Vegeta manages to rise again, transferring his remaining energy to Goku, the only one still able to fight effectively, and continues to watch the unfolding battle.

Goku eventually escapes from Gas by teleporting to another world, then returns to Cereal. Seeking refuge in Monaito's home, Vegeta, Goku, and the others listen to a transmission from Bardock’s scouter, which recounts Bardock's past battle with Gas. After the recording, Vegeta reflects solemnly on how he has lost sight of the pride of his Saiyan heritage, focusing too much on atoning for his past rather than embracing the true essence of his people.

When Gas returns to Cereal, the Saiyans, reinvigorated by their resolve, decide to face him together. They transform into their Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego forms and launch an assault on Gas. Vegeta attacks with a sphere of Destruction energy, but Gas begins to push it back. Goku attempts to assist Vegeta, but realizing the struggle is futile, Vegeta leaves Goku to manage it while he directly engages Gas. Gas is baffled by Vegeta's increasing strength despite the significant damage he has sustained. Vegeta explains that his Ultra Ego form thrives on damage, making him stronger with every hit.

Frustrated, Gas intensifies his attacks, and Goku tries to intervene, but Vegeta insists that Goku should focus on mastering his Ultra Instinct. As both Vegeta and Gas begin to tire, Gas delivers another devastating attack that seemingly incapacitates Vegeta, declaring he won't rise again. Yet, Vegeta stubbornly stands up and charges at Gas. Expecting a full-on attack, Gas braces himself, only to see Vegeta collapse into his base form, unconscious from exhaustion. Vegeta re-enters the battle one final time after Granolah also joins the fray, charging up for a decisive strike. Together, they manage to hold off Gas long enough for Granolah to prepare his finishing move.

Gas falls to the ground, seemingly defeated but still alive. Granolah tells his siblings to take Gas away and never return to Planet Cereal, expressing regret for his actions and apologizing to Goku and Vegeta.

However, as Monaito heals Goku, Vegeta, and Granolah to full strength, Gas, refusing to give up, blasts a hole through Monaito's chest. Goku and Vegeta, seeing their friend gravely injured, transform and re-enter the battle against Gas. Despite their efforts, they are easily overpowered. As the fight continues, Gas's body begins to decay from the damage he has taken.

At this critical moment, Frieza arrives and swiftly kills both Gas and Elec. Turning his attention to Goku and Vegeta, he leaves them puzzled as they demand to know how he defeated Gas, the supposed strongest in the universe. Frieza hints that he may have been training in another dimension, a statement that confounds the Saiyans. To their shock, Frieza unveils a new transformation he calls "Black Frieza," showcasing his overwhelming power by easily defeating Goku and Vegeta even in their strongest forms. Satisfied with his victory, Frieza spares their lives and departs.

Whis then appears and, as a special favor to Goku, restores Monaito's life. He urges Goku and Vegeta to leave with him immediately because Beerus is struggling with making instant yakisoba. Before departing, Goku invites Granolah to join them for training, but Granolah declines, choosing instead to seek the Dragon Balls to repair the damage he caused to Planet Cereal. As a parting gesture, Vegeta gives Granolah the Dragon Radar before they leave with Whis.

High School Saga

After the intense battles on Planet Cereal and the shocking emergence of "Black Frieza," Vegeta and Goku, determined not to fall behind their powerful adversary, resume their rigorous training on Beerus' Planet.

Super Hero Saga

As time passes, Vegeta undergoes a moment of enlightenment and begins focusing on meditation training. He explains to Goku that their physical capabilities have been honed to their peak. The key difference between them and those who have recently surpassed them lies in how they utilize their power. Vegeta believes that relaxing the body and mind at the moment of attack will release explosive power while conserving stamina. Whis praises Vegeta for this self-realization and proposes a sparring match between Vegeta, Goku, and the newest arrival to Beerus' Planet, Broly, though it is quickly decided that Broly should sit this one out.

Following a meal prepared by Lemo, Goku and Vegeta commence their match. Beerus observes a subtle but significant shift in Vegeta's movements during the fight. The battle endures for hours, and with both fighters nearly depleted of energy, they make a final bid to claim victory. Vegeta manages to tap Goku on the chest, knocking him down, and declares his long-sought victory over Goku before collapsing from exhaustion.

Some time later, Vegeta spars with Broly and advises him to manage his anger rather than suppress it. Vegeta transforms into a Super Saiyan, and Broly, without resorting to his berserk form, holds his own. Whis notes Broly's growth, and Vegeta powers down, commending Broly for his ability to fight without losing himself to rage. However, he points out that while Broly can maintain control, he is unable to unleash his full power because of it. After a brief rest, Beerus inquires about recent events on Earth, and Whis informs him that Gohan and Piccolo have defeated Cell Max. Vegeta shares that, according to Bulma, Gohan had surpassed both himself and Goku during the battle. When Goku expresses regret at missing the fight due to his own battle with Vegeta, Vegeta is quick to remind him that it was a match Goku lost.

Not long after their intense training sessions, Goku uses Instant Transmission to bring Gohan, Goten, and Trunks to Beerus' Planet. Goku is eager to test Gohan's new Beast form in a sparring match. Before Goku takes on his son, Vegeta suggests that Goten and Trunks spar with Gohan to warm up.

After Gohan spars with Goten and Trunks, Goku steps in to face his son. The match is intense, showcasing Gohan's impressive new form. Following this, Broly takes on Gohan, pushing both fighters to their limits. Vegeta, observing from the sidelines, eventually grows too impatient. Unable to contain himself, he transforms into Super Saiyan Blue and joins the fray, challenging Gohan's Beast form. This escalates into an all-out brawl among all the Saiyans, leaving everyone exhausted by the end.

Once the battle concludes, they enjoy one last feast together. As Goku and Vegeta prepare to return home, Vegeta remarks that he needs to get back soon; otherwise, Bulma might start losing interest in him if he stays away too long.

Peaceful World Saga

In the decade following Majin Buu's defeat, Vegeta embraces his life on Earth fully, even welcoming a second child, his daughter Bulla. His wardrobe shifts from his traditional Saiyan armor to more casual Earth attire, signifying his adaptation to his new life. Ten years after Buu’s downfall, Goku, Vegeta, and their friends enter the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament. Eager for another match against Goku, Vegeta participates with renewed enthusiasm, while Goku is keen to meet the reincarnation of Majin Buu.

Vegeta also encourages his son, Trunks, to take part in the tournament, humorously threatening to cut Trunks’ allowance in half if he doesn't fight well. During the preliminary rounds, Vegeta effortlessly deals with an opponent who tries to provoke him, sending the trash-talker flying into a billboard with a casual backhand and suggesting to the referees that his opponent "forfeited" before their match even started.

At the tournament's conclusion, Goku announces his plan to leave and train Uub, the reincarnation of Buu. Before departing, Goku has a final conversation with Vegeta. Goku expresses a desire to have a friendly rematch one day, to which Vegeta responds that when they do fight, they’ll need an entire planet as their arena. After their brief exchange, Goku and Uub fly off to begin their training.

The updated manga ends with Vegeta standing at the tournament grounds, leaning on a pillar and contemplating his future battle with Goku, confident that one day he will surpass and defeat his long-time rival.
