Possession

From The Character Database

Possession is the ability of a character to take control of another character by entering their mind, body, or soul. Unlike mind control, which is exerted externally, possession operates internally. Traditionally, demons and ghosts in folklore and fiction often exhibit this power. Possession allows many characters to escape death by hopping from one body to another, making them difficult to kill.

Types of Possession:[edit | edit source]

  1. Mental Possession:
    • The user possesses the victim by entering their mind or projecting their consciousness into the victim's body to control them.
  2. Physical Possession:
    • The user possesses the victim by entering their body and controlling them from the inside out.
  3. Spiritual Possession:
    • The user possesses the victim by entering their body with their own soul and taking control of their actions.

Possible Uses:[edit | edit source]

  • Escape Death: Transferring consciousness or soul to a new body to avoid death.
  • Control: Manipulating another character's actions and decisions.
  • Infiltration: Gaining control over individuals to access restricted areas or information.
  • Combat: Using the possessed individual's abilities and strengths against their allies.

Limitations:[edit | edit source]

  • Resistance: Strong-willed individuals or those with certain protections may resist possession.
  • Purification: Characters with purification abilities can expel the possessor.
  • Temporary Control: Possession may have a limited duration or require continuous effort to maintain.
  • Detection: The act of possession might be detectable by those with specific abilities or awareness.
