Rex Powers is one of the characters in Victorious. He is Robbie's best friend and ventriloquist dummy, though he dislikes being called a "dummy" or "puppet." Rex is known for his bluntness and outspoken personality, often saying exactly what's on his mind. He frequently flirts with the girls at Hollywood Arts High School, with the exception of Cat, who is Robbie's love interest.

Rex is puppeteered by Matt Bennett and voiced by Jake Farrow, who is left uncredited to maintain the illusion that Robbie is voicing Rex. In the Blooptorious episode, Rex claims to be "Christopher Cane," a British actor. In the episode "Rex Dies," he gets sucked into a wind machine and is rushed to the hospital.

Aside from his abrasiveness, Rex is defined by his unrequited crush on Tori, even though she often finds him annoying. In the episode "Sleepover at Sikowitz's," Tori kisses Rex to shut him up, which delights him. His affection for Tori is so strong that he forgives her for sucking him into the Tublow Jet, while seeking revenge on Trina for much smaller offenses. He even delivers his only genuinely kind line to her, telling Tori she was too good to wait for the announcement of a new PearPhone. In contrast, Rex shows little respect for the rest of the gang, especially Jade, and often insults them without provocation. He once even told Robbie he would sell him for half a sandwich, though he does consider the others, at least the guys, to be his friends.

Christopher Cane is the fictional alter ego of Rex Powers, who appears as the host in the episode Blooptorious. With a British accent, Christopher interviews the main cast members of Victorious and presents himself as an actual actor playing the part of Rex, rather than a ventriloquist dummy.

Christopher Cane is portrayed differently from Rex in several ways. He has a British accent, is slightly larger, with longer arms that can move independently. Most notably, Christopher speaks and moves on his own without the aid of a ventriloquist, further suggesting his sentience.

A recurring joke throughout the episode is Christopher's habit of interrupting, insulting, and dismissing the people he interviews, particularly being rude to Daniella Monet and Matt Bennett. However, he treats Victoria Justice with kindness and states that he loves her.

Christopher also has a fondness for apple juice, which he humorously offers to cast members throughout the episode. All of them refuse except for Victoria Justice, but when she asks for it, Christopher claims he is out of it. At one point, he refers to the drink as "juiced apples."

Christopher Cane also appears as the host of iCarly's second blooper episode, "iBloop 2 - Electric Bloopaloo." In this episode, he shows a dislike for most of the iCarly cast, except for Gibby, whom he admires. He repeatedly tries to promote his own brand of salsa and mentions that he auditioned for the role of Spencer on iCarly.

In addition to these appearances, Christopher conducts interviews on TheSlap and has one interview on iCarly.com. In his interview with Elizabeth Gillies, it is revealed that he fancies her, as well as Victoria Justice.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • In the same stream, it was revealed that in the opening scene of Survival of the Hottest, when Rex was squirted with sunscreen, the paint on that Rex doll's face was permanently damaged, making it unusable for future scenes.
