Time Manipulation, also known as Chronokinesis, is the ability to control time itself. This power encompasses a range of abilities including time travel, precognition, slowing down time, speeding up time, and more. As time and space are interconnected, many users of time manipulation can also manipulate space.

Uses of Time Manipulation

  • Time Travel: Moving forward or backward in time.
  • Precognition: Seeing future events before they happen.
  • Time Acceleration: Speeding up the flow of time.
  • Time Deceleration: Slowing down the flow of time.

Time Stop

One specific application of time manipulation is Time Stop, the ability to halt time while the user moves normally. During stopped time, characters can:

  • Attack Immobile Opponents: Striking foes who cannot move or react.
  • Set Up Attacks: Positioning traps or preparing attacks while opponents are frozen.
  • Dodge Attacks: Evading incoming attacks that are frozen in time.

Limitations and Variations

  • Duration: The ability to stop time may last only a few seconds or indefinitely.
  • Interaction: Characters who can stop time might also be able to move within the stopped time created by others.

Note on Time Manipulation

Characters in video games shown to "slow" or "stop" time entirely might actually be using abilities like Speed Amplification, Enhanced Senses, or Perception Manipulation, unless the game or its lore explicitly state or show otherwise.

  • Range of Time Manipulation: By default, the range is considered universal unless demonstrated or specified otherwise.
    • Gravity-Based Time Manipulation: Presumed to have a localized range unless explicitly stated or demonstrated to be universal.
    • Pocket Dimensions: Time manipulation within pocket dimensions is not presumed to have a universal range unless explicitly indicated or shown.
  • Time Stop Sub-Ability: Unless users are shown or stated to have limits in terms of range, or that their range extends beyond the universe, they are assumed to affect the entire flow of time universally. This means that time stops affect all of time in the universe unless proven otherwise.
