Fear Manipulation, also known as Fear Inducement, is the ability to instill fear in a target through supernatural means. Depending on the intensity of the induced fear, the user can manipulate, incapacitate, or drive the target insane.

It's important to differentiate this ability from simple terrorization achieved through authority, strength, or demeanor, which would fall under Social Influencing. Fear Manipulation, in contrast, allows the user to induce fear irrespective of these factors.

Possible Uses:

  • Fear Inducement: Instilling a sense of fear in the target, which can range from mild fright to severe insanity.
  • Nightmare Manipulation: Creating and controlling nightmares tailored to the target, an application of Dream Manipulation.
  • Hallucination Causation: Forcing the target to experience hallucinations, making them see their greatest fears or perceive allies as monsters. Unlike Illusion Creation, these hallucinations are only visible to the affected individual.
  • Manipulation and Control: Using fear to manipulate the target's actions, possibly causing them to harm themselves or others.

Types:

  • Biochemical: Using biological, chemical, or biochemical methods to induce fear. Can be resisted through biological resistance, adequate equipment, or inorganic physiology.
  • Neurological: Utilizing mind manipulation and related powers to instill fear directly. Can be resisted with sufficient resistance to mind manipulation.
  • Mystical: Employing magic and other inexplicable phenomena to exploit the target's fears. Can be resisted using magic resistance.

Limitations:

  • Fear Manipulation can occasionally be overcome with bravery, willpower, and courage, depending on the user and the medium.
