Chi Manipulation is the ability to control the vital energy, also known as Qi, Ki, Youki, and other names, that flows within living organisms and constitutes health. This ability is most commonly featured in Eastern media, where the concept of Chi originated, and is typically associated with martial arts.

Possible Uses:

  • Body Strengthening: Chi manipulators can achieve superhuman feats of strength, speed, stamina, and durability by infusing their bodies with Chi. The extent of this ability varies by user and media.
  • Chi Emission: Chi manipulators can emit their Chi for various effects, often as energy attacks or auras. In some works, Chi emission allows for elemental manipulation, magic, creating constructs, granting Chi to others, and other abilities.
  • Chi Sensing: Chi manipulators can sense other beings with Chi, detecting them across long distances without using the five normal senses. This enhances tracking abilities and situational awareness. The five senses can also be enhanced by infusing the corresponding body part with Chi.
  • Chi Masking: Some Chi manipulators can suppress their Chi to become virtually invisible to Chi-sensing techniques.
  • Dark Chi: Some media feature Dark Chi, an energy opposing Chi. Exposure to Dark Chi can corrupt minds or grant significant power.
  • Movement: Chi manipulators can perform extraordinary movements, such as flying, running on water, gravity-defying acrobatics, instant teleportation, creating afterimages or doppelgangers, and other enhanced movements.

Limitations:

  • Finite Supply: Chi is often limited, and extensive use can lead to depletion, nullifying its effects and making it unusable. Overuse can result in unconsciousness or death.
  • Concentration and Training: Using Chi requires concentration and training.
  • Chi-Blocking: Skilled fighters may use Chi-blocking techniques to limit or remove one's ability to use Chi.
  • Detectability: Those with the ability to sense Chi can more easily detect individuals with larger amounts, making powerful Chi manipulators bigger and easier targets.
