Ranfan dislikes "little twerps" and has a unique hobby of collecting underwear.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Dragon Ball[edit | edit source]

21st World Martial Arts Tournament Saga[edit | edit source]

Ranfan was one of the eight fighters to reach the quarterfinals in the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament and the only female competitor. She frequently dealt with unwanted advances from Jackie Chun, who flirted with her persistently. In the tournament, Ranfan drew number six and faced Nam. Using her charm and tactics, she managed to get a few hits in and almost pushed him out of the ring by surprising him with her lingerie. However, Nam ultimately defeated her by fighting with his eyes closed to avoid being distracted. After her loss, Jackie Chun took advantage of the situation, pretending to "check for a heartbeat" by placing his hands on her waistband.

Following her defeat, Ranfan stayed to watch the remaining matches and eventually found Goku asleep before his fight with Giran.

Some time after the tournament, Ranfan married a man named Trunks and became a housewife.

King Piccolo Saga[edit | edit source]

After King Piccolo's resurrection, Ranfan’s name appeared among the targets in the World Martial Arts Tournament records for Tambourine's mission to eliminate martial artists. It is not confirmed whether she was killed by Tambourine.

Powers and Statistics[edit | edit source]

Tier: At least 9-B

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Martial Arts, Acrobatics, Limited Air/Temperature Manipulation (Can use air friction to enhance the strength of her punches), Seduction

Attack Potency: At least Wall level (Should at least be stronger than Bad Launch. Could somewhat hurt Nam, albeit he wasn't fighting seriously at that point)

Speed: Superhuman, with possibly Supersonic+ combat speed (Fought against a casual Nam)

Lifting Strength: At least Class 5 (Should be stronger than Bad Launch), possibly at most Class 100 (Could fight a casual Nam)

Striking Strength: At least Wall level

Durability: At least Wall level (Could punch hard enough to somewhat hurt Nam without hurting her own hand from the impact. Survived a blow from Nam, albeit she was knocked out)

Stamina: Above Average (Could fight her way to the quarterfinals of the tournament without getting tired, briefly fought against Nam before running out of breath)

Range: Standard Melee Range

Standard Equipment: None notable

Intelligence: Skilled martial artist and seductress, otherwise Average

Standard Tactics: When facing male opponents, Ranfan will try and make them drop their guard by flirting with them or pretending to be seriously hurt when she's not. If this fails, she will strip down to her underwear to shock male opponents.

Weaknesses: Normal human weaknesses to a lesser extent, her seductress tactics wouldn't work on any straight female opponents or homosexual male opponents, her tactic of pretending to be hurt would most likely fail against more ruthless opponents.

Attacks and Techniques[edit | edit source]

Ranfan utilizes her looks and charm to gain an upper hand in battle, aside from her martial arts skills:

  • Flirt – Ranfan dazzles opponents with a loving look and distracts them by pretending distress, then strikes when they approach to help.
  • Heat Fist – Using air friction, Ranfan heats her fist to deliver a more powerful punch.
  • Seduction Attack – Ranfan seduces the opponent, lowering their guard so she can strike with her Heat Fist. This is her Super Attack in Dokkan Battle.
  • Stripping – To distract male opponents, Ranfan strips down to her pink bra and panties.
  • Giant Heart – A large heart that expands outward to hit the opponent. Seen in Dragon Ball: Origins.
  • Hearts Spinning – Pink or red hearts spin around her at varying speeds to confuse opponents. Seen in Dragon Ball: Origins.
  • Small Hearts – Ranfan fires one or three hearts directly at her opponent as an attack. Used in Dragon Ball: Origins.
  • Hikou – In Dokkan Battle, she uses a jetpack to fly, as she cannot use ki-based Flight.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Ranfan's name is derived from a Japanese abbreviation for "lingerie and foundation garments."
  • In the U.S. broadcast edit of Dragon Ball, her "stripping" technique was removed, replacing it with a scene of Nam's failed attack followed by her twitching foot to imply she was knocked out. However, the recaps still include the original scene with her in her bra and panties. The uncut English episodes retain the full fight.
  • In Dr. Slump, two characters share similarities with Ranfan: Renault Citroën, who shares her design and uses seduction in fights, and Trampire, a recurring character with a similar appearance.
  • Ranfan was 23 years old during the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament.
  • She is the only 21st World Martial Arts Tournament competitor to not appear again after the event.
  • Prima Donna (Vivian) from Dragon Quest IV, drawn by Akira Toriyama, resembles Ranfan and shares her role as a tournament opponent.
  • Ranfan has a unique hobby of collecting underwear and dislikes "little twerps."
  • The movie pamphlet for Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might states that Ranfan has a power level of 80.
