B.O.B
B.O.B., short for Benzoate Ostylezene Bicarbonate, is a blue, one-eyed, indestructible gelatinous mass created spontaneously in a laboratory experiment. His origins trace back to a chemically-altered ranch dressing being injected into a genetically-modified tomato. B.O.B. has remarkable abilities: he can absorb anything, transform into any shape, extend his body, detach his eyeball, and digest objects almost instantly (depending on their size). However, he lacks a brain. Captured in 1958, B.O.B. was sent to the secretive Area Fifty-Something.

Appearance[edit | edit source]
B.O.B. is a translucent, gelatinous blue creature with a single, large cyclopean eye and a wide mouth. His body is amorphous and lacks any definitive structure, allowing him to stretch, morph, and reshape himself as needed. Despite his indestructible and ever-shifting form, B.O.B. retains a distinctively cheerful and approachable appearance.
His lone eye typically has a brown iris, though in certain circumstances, such as when he turns pink in I Predict Horror, it shifts to green. The flexibility of his form allows him to extend parts of his body, detach his eyeball, and absorb objects. These traits emphasize his quirky, non-threatening yet otherworldly look.
B.O.B.’s amorphous design also enables him to comically mimic shapes or objects, further contributing to his playful and humorous personality.
Personality[edit | edit source]
B.O.B. serves as the heart, mascot, and comedic relief of his team. His happy-go-lucky nature and constant laughter make him endearing to everyone around him. He is fiercely loyal, always eager to help his friends, and extends his friendliness even to newcomers like Susan when she is captured. His deep care for his companions motivates him to protect them, regardless of whether they're allies or foes.
Though charming, B.O.B. is undeniably dimwitted due to his lack of a brain. He frequently makes amusing blunders, such as confusing holidays or accidentally launching missiles by mistaking the "Launch" button for a "Lunch" button. His confusion often leads to humorous situations, but he usually finds creative ways to resolve them.
Despite his lack of intellect, B.O.B. is brave and resourceful when it matters most. In Night of the Living Carrots, he confronts his fears, consuming zombie carrots to break the curse that afflicted his friends. Similarly, in the movie, he devises a surprisingly effective plan to help the monsters reach Ginormica without being detected—a testament to his quirky ingenuity.
Biography[edit | edit source]
B.O.B. is the result of an experiment that combined a genetically engineered tomato with chemically altered ranch salad dressing. Shortly after his creation, B.O.B. rampaged through six city blocks, devouring everything in his path, before being captured by General W.R. Monger in 1958. He was subsequently imprisoned at the secretive Area Fifty-Something, where Monger force-fed him excessive amounts of carrot purée, leaving him deeply traumatized.
In 1961, B.O.B. met The Missing Link, followed by Dr. Cockroach in 1962, The Invisible Man before 1968, and Insectosaurus in 1969. Before the events of Attack of the Movie Night, B.O.B. was terrified of large mustaches. Link helped him overcome this fear by donning a fake walrus mustache, leading B.O.B. to attack him.
B.O.B.'s Big Break[edit | edit source]
In 1968, Dr. Cockroach and The Missing Link hosted a birthday party for B.O.B., which was a ruse to feed him a chemical compound they believed would turn him into a living bomb to facilitate their escape. Instead of exploding, the compound gave B.O.B. the temporary ability to read minds. The trio used this newfound ability to uncover General Monger’s secret jet, but their plan was foiled when B.O.B. mistook the jet for a piñata and destroyed it. During the ensuing crash, B.O.B.'s mind-reading abilities were lost, and the group was recaptured. They later threw another birthday party for B.O.B., which only Monger, B.O.B., and The Invisible Man enjoyed.
In 1984, The Invisible Man died of a heart attack. To spare B.O.B.'s feelings, the group told him that The Invisible Man had "escaped," leaving B.O.B. blissfully unaware of the truth.
Monsters vs. Aliens[edit | edit source]
When Susan (later known as Ginormica) was imprisoned, B.O.B. was immediately curious about her "monster name." Just weeks after her arrival, Gallaxhar invaded Earth with a massive arsenal. When the U.S. Army failed to counter the threat, General Monger offered the monsters their freedom if they could defeat Gallaxhar's robot probe.
The team triumphed in San Francisco, earning their freedom, but their visit to Modesto ended disastrously. After Susan was abducted and Insectosaurus seemingly killed, The Missing Link devised a plan to infiltrate Gallaxhar's spaceship using jetpacks. Inside the ship, B.O.B., Link, and Dr. Cockroach were trapped in a chamber as the self-destruct sequence activated. Failing to grasp the severity of the situation, B.O.B. optimistically declared he would "see them tomorrow." At the last moment, Susan returned to her Ginormica form and rescued them. They escaped to safety, reuniting with General Monger and the resurrected Butterflysaurus.
After being hailed as heroes, B.O.B. "broke up" with Derek, declaring he chose Diane instead, and joined his team for their next mission against Esgargantua in Paris.
In Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space[edit | edit source]
B.O.B. initially dressed as Elvis for Halloween but was interrupted by news of a spaceship hovering over Modesto. Attempting to negotiate with the mutant pumpkins, he claimed to know the "Produce" language. When insulted about his mother in a salad bar, B.O.B. teamed up with neighborhood children to fend off the pumpkin invasion.
In Night of the Living Carrots[edit | edit source]
After Link defeated the last mutant pumpkin, its genetic material transformed nearby carrots into a zombie horde that could zombify anyone with a brain. B.O.B., brainless and immune, was terrified due to his past trauma with carrots. Despite his fear, he ultimately consumed the entire carrot army, freeing his zombified friends and saving the day. However, this temporarily turned him into a carrot himself before he reverted to normal.

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Body Control, Intangibility, Regeneration (At least Mid, likely Low-High), Elasticity (Can stretch his body several tens if not hundreds of meters), Absorption, Corrosion Inducement (Can digest things at a very rapid pace. Consumed multiple Jersey barriers within seconds), High Resistance to Blunt Force
Attack Potency: Wall level+ (One-shot several of Gallaxhar's clones. The clones should be comparable to if not slightly weaker than the original, who could survive a restrained hit from Ginormica)
Speed: Peak Human
Lifting Strength: Class 5 (Can easily lift cars)
Striking Strength: Wall level+
Durability: At least Wall level+ (Survived being kicked high into the air by Susan as well as the resulting fall. Survived being stepped on numerous times by a giant robot. More often than not he has simply laughed off any damage he's received), his general physiology makes him very difficult to kill
Stamina: High (Rarely shows fatigue, though he has been shown to become sick after consuming too much)
Range: Standard Melee Range, up to hundreds of meters by stretching himself out
Standard Equipment: None notable
Intelligence: Quite below average due to lacking a brain; he once forgot how to breathe. However, he has come up with ideas and plans that have proven to be successful
Weaknesses: Rather unintelligent, has a limit to how much he can consume (though it is still quite high), evidently still needs to breathe despite not having any visible lungs

The trio mock Bob the Dwarf for his uncanny valley appearance, creating a humorous connection as all four characters are voiced by Rogen.
