Whereas antiheroes are atypical heroes who range from insecure and cowardly to violent and selfish, anti-villains are generally those villains that have heroic (or at least sympathetic) goals, even if their means are less than heroic. They may have codes of honor, and be noble or heroic, and often may side with the heroes against a greater foe.
