Salsa (サルサ Sarusa), also known as Demon God Salsa (魔神サルサ Majin Sarusa), is a demon who once served Mechikabura as part of the Dark Empire.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Salsa has pink skin, red hair, red eyes, and curved shadow trim around his eyes. He wears a blue-and-yellow shirt lined with gold, dark blue pants, black boots, and a white handkerchief. Over this, he dons a blue robe with gold trim, along with dark blue Potara earrings. His weapon of choice is a double-edged sword with a light blue orb on top of the blade. After losing his Demon God powers, Salsa becomes taller, his hair grows more unruly, and his eye trim disappears. His new outfit is a darker version of his previous robe, featuring a spiked hem and red sash, but he retains his handkerchief and blue Potara earrings.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Salsa is intensely loyal to Mechikabura, even after experiencing failures and mistreatment. He feels deep shame for being unable to defeat Xeno Turles and sides with Mechikabura when the Dark Empire splits. Despite Mechikabura using and discarding him, Salsa remains loyal, unlike Shroom, who grows to resent their master. His loyalty is so unwavering that Putine compares him to a loyal dog abandoned by its owner.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Super Dragon Ball Heroes[edit | edit source]
Dark Empire Saga[edit | edit source]
In the manga, Salsa first appears alongside his master, Mechikabura, and the Dark Masked King at the Tree of Might to retrieve the Four-Star Dark Dragon Ball from Xeno Turles. He watches the battle between the Dark Masked King and Xeno Turles with indifference until Xeno Turles bites into the Fruit of the Tree of Might, drastically increasing his power. Salsa, initially unimpressed, is soon alarmed by Xeno Turles' newfound strength.
When Xeno Turles hurls a rock at Salsa and Mechikabura, Salsa quickly slices it apart. He then attempts to attack Xeno Turles with a kick to the neck, only to be shocked when his strike has no effect. Xeno Turles retaliates, sending Salsa flying. Salsa reports to Mechikabura that the infected Saiyan's power rivals, if not surpasses, that of the Demon Gods. Mechikabura, in response, annihilates both Xeno Turles and the Tree of Might with an energy wave, leaving Salsa in awe of his master's overwhelming power.
Later, Salsa's Demon God powers stabilize, and he arrives just in time to save Towa from Demon God Buu's attack. He expresses regret for failing to carry out Mechikabura's orders earlier but confidently declares that his strength has now returned. Demonstrating his might, he uses his Trick of Tornado technique to destroy the bodies of Xeno Majin Buu, Xeno Janemba, and Xeno Lord Slug, freeing their Dark Dragon Balls and Xeno Dabura. This allows Towa to recover the Dark Dragon Balls and teleport away.
Salsa then joins the other Demon Gods in fighting the Time Patrol warriors, aiming to buy time for Dark Shenron to restore Mechikabura's youth and full power. He briefly faces off against Chamel, but their battle is cut short when the Time Patrol is teleported back to the Time Nest.
Dark King Mechikabura Saga[edit | edit source]
After Mechikabura escapes from the Time Labyrinth with Chronoa under his control, Salsa and the other Demon Gods are granted an enhanced Demon God form.
Salsa is later tasked with guarding the Blue Hell Gate to maintain the seal on Mechikabura's Lair, where he encounters Xeno Goku. Using his wind abilities, Salsa sends Xeno Goku's Kamehameha back at him. He then employs his Trick of Tornado to try and land further attacks. As Xeno Goku struggles against the technique, Salsa charges in to finish him off with his sword but is countered when Xeno Goku strikes him in the stomach with his Power Pole. Xeno Goku subsequently transforms into a Super Saiyan and fires another Kamehameha, which ultimately defeats Salsa. After this defeat, Salsa is summoned by Mechikabura, who absorbs him along with the other Demon Gods to achieve the Time Power Unleashed form.
In the game, Salsa and Shroom are the only two Demon Gods who remain loyal to Mechikabura after everything is pulled into his black hole. When they battle Xeno King Vegeta and Xeno Bardock, Mechikabura forces them to assume their true Dark Forms. However, they are quickly defeated by the Saiyan duo and perish due to the strain of using their Dark Forms in battle. In the manga, though, Salsa survives (albeit without his Demon God powers) and escapes with Putine after Super Saiyan God Xeno Trunks shatters Mechikabura's armor.
Universe Creation Saga[edit | edit source]
Choosing to ally with the heroes, Salsa and Putine make a surprise entrance by traveling through a time distortion into Hell. Putine uses her Ice Magic to immobilize Janemba's legs, allowing Salsa to unleash his Trick of Storm, propelling Janemba back into the cliffside. However, Janemba quickly turns the tide and gains the upper hand against everyone. Salsa then suggests that Xeno Goku replicate the strategy he used during his battle against the Shadow Dragons. Despite the challenges they face, Salsa and Putine manage to buy the Saiyans enough time for Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta to harness the power necessary to defeat Janemba. They are subsequently teleported to the Universe Tree alongside everyone else, thanks to Putine's magic.
New Space-Time War Saga[edit | edit source]
Salsa next appears alongside Shroom and Putine in the Pseudo Universe, where they open a doorway to a room resembling the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, allowing Goku and Vegeta to master their powers.
In the manga, Salsa saves Goku and Xeno Goku from Fu's dark vortexes instead of Chronoa. He and Shroom are transported back to the Pseudo Universe, where they confront Towa and Mira. Mira absorbs Towa to achieve his Final Form and begins to overpower Salsa, but Shroom offers a solution by using his Potara earrings, allowing them to merge into Shroosa and fight back against Mira's attacks.
Supreme Kai of Time Saga[edit | edit source]
In the anime, when Dark King Demigra releases evil beings from various points in the Scrolls of Eternity, a version of Salsa appears alongside Shroom, Putine, Gravy, and Xeno Dabura to confront Gohan, Piccolo, and the Namekian in Black.
In the manga, Salsa and Putine observe the final battle between Demigra and Goku's allies through a portal. As they attempt to retreat, Xeno Gogeta sends Broly flying with a magma storm, causing Broly to crash into them as the portal closes. It remains unclear whether the Salsa who appears during the Supreme Kai of Time Saga is the same one whose soul was infused into Shroom, suggesting that either Shroosa has defused or that the Salsa confronting Gohan and his allies comes from a different Scroll of Eternity.
