Bear Thief
The Bear Thief (山賊熊 Sanzoku Kuma, lit. "Bandit Bear") is an anthropomorphic bear residing near Mount Paozu. Known for ambushing travelers, he preys on them for food or valuables, with a particular fondness for eating turtles.

The Bear Thief is a towering anthropomorphic bear with brown fur. He has a menacing appearance, featuring a scarred, blind eye. He dons traditional clothing reminiscent of Chinese armor and wields a large broadsword.
Personality[edit | edit source]
The Bear Thief is gluttonous and aggressive, showing a particular eagerness to make Turtle into soup. His drooling over Turtle reveals his ravenous appetite and lack of compassion for his victims.

Dragon Ball: Emperor Pilaf Saga[edit | edit source]
Early in Goku and Bulma's quest for the Dragon Balls, the Bear Thief confronts them as they escort Master Roshi's Turtle back to the ocean. He demands that Goku hand over Turtle for his next meal, but Goku refuses. The encounter leads to a fight where the Bear Thief, unable to land a single hit on Goku, is quickly subdued with a punch between the eyes.

- The mercenary leader in "Tien's Atonement" shares a striking resemblance to the Bear Thief, including the same voice actor in the Funimation dub.
- The Bear Thief inspired several other anthropomorphic animal bandits in the Dragon Ball franchise, most notably the Tiger Thief seen in the episodes "Terror and Plague" and "Goku's Traffic Safety".
- His armor is similar to that worn by Chinese soldiers during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Characters like Ox-King, the Tiger Thief, the nameless warrior from "Terror and Plague," Sky Dragon, and Lord Yao also sport similarly styled uniforms.
