Appearance[edit | edit source]
While Magetta may resemble a robot, he is not one. He possesses a large, bulky build with a clunky appearance. His chest, lower jaw, wrists, and ankles are silver, while the rest of his body features a combination of bronze and purple hues. His glowing cyan eyes and two transparent reactor cores containing magma—which serve as his hearts—are prominent features. A steam pipe on top of his head releases steam when he feels tense.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Magetta is highly confident in his abilities. However, like others of the Metalman race, he is extremely sensitive to insults, which can render him unable to fight. This was demonstrated during his match with Vegeta, who called him a "pathetic pile of junk," causing Magetta to lose and cry afterward.
Magetta, much like Majin Buu, lacks academic intelligence. He barely passed the written exam required for the tournament, highlighting his limited intellectual capabilities. He also appears incapable of coherent speech. In the Japanese version, his lines are composed of simple sounds like "choo-po," while in the English dub, he utters mechanical-like phrases such as "Clankity clankity whir" and "Chugga chugga chugga spark." Despite this, he can fully understand what others say to him.
Magetta shares a close and friendly bond with Botamo, likely because both are the larger fighters on Champa's team. Their camaraderie is evident in their teamwork, such as when they successfully perform a combo move to catch a ball batted by Gohan. During the Tournament of Power, Magetta saves Botamo from being eliminated by Vegeta, while Botamo covers Magetta's ears to shield him from insults, allowing them to work effectively as a duo.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Dragon Ball Super[edit | edit source]
Universe 6 Saga[edit | edit source]
Auta Magetta is a Metalman from Universe 6, selected by Vados as one of the five fighters representing their team in the Tournament of Destroyers against Universe 7. The tournament is held on the Nameless Planet, and Magetta competes alongside teammates Hit, Cabba, Frost, and Botamo.
Magetta successfully passes the written exam required to participate, albeit barely, with a score of 50%. His struggle with the questions is evident as the pipe on his head releases steam, signaling his stress. He watches the initial matches, witnessing Botamo's loss to Goku and Frost's subsequent victories over Goku and Piccolo through cheating. After Frost's defeat by Vegeta, Magetta takes the stage as Universe 6's next contender. A new rule introduced by Champa and Vados stipulates that touching the barrier surrounding the ring results in a ring-out.
Magetta begins his match against Vegeta by drinking a cup of lava and launching a series of powerful punches. However, Vegeta dodges effortlessly and even counters with a head kick that briefly buries Magetta's head inside his body, causing an annoying shockwave. Magetta rectifies this by violently striking himself, emerging unscathed. Despite increasing his power, he struggles to match Vegeta's speed.
Magetta then performs a tornado attack, forcing Vegeta to dodge upward, a vulnerable position for Magetta since he cannot perform mid-air combat. Vegeta exploits this with a barrage of ki blasts, which Magetta endures. He counters with his Lava Spit, a molten attack that grows stronger over time. Vegeta narrowly avoids significant damage but is pushed close to the barrier.
Transforming into a Super Saiyan, Vegeta shrugs off the heat from Magetta's magma attacks. However, Magetta intensifies the temperature inside the arena, causing Vegeta to sweat and pant. Magetta follows up with more Lava Spit and releases a wave of scalding steam, nearly forcing Vegeta out of the ring.
Vegeta retaliates with a Galick Gun, but Magetta deflects it with his solidified lava. He uses the cooled magma to form a weapon, striking Vegeta and knocking him toward the ring's edge. Vegeta recovers by landing on debris from the stage. As Magetta prepares another lava attack, Vegeta counters with a Final Flash, overpowering Magetta and pushing him to the edge of the arena.
While Magetta struggles to regain balance, Vegeta shouts an insult, calling him a "pathetic pile of junk." The remark demoralizes Magetta, who loses his will to fight and falls out of the ring, resulting in Vegeta's victory. Afterward, Magetta is seen crying over the insult while Botamo attempts to console him.
In the manga adaptation, Vegeta defeats Magetta by destroying most of the ring and firing a ki blast while delivering the same insult. This results in Magetta easily falling out of bounds.
Following the tournament, Champa berates his team for their failure. Magetta, visibly fearful of Champa's wrath, is comforted by Cabba. However, the arrival of the Omni-King and his guards distracts Champa, sparing Magetta and his teammates from further scolding.
Future Trunks Saga[edit | edit source]
Magetta is recruited by Champa to join his baseball team. Despite his inability to fly, he collaborates with Botamo to compensate for this weakness. Gohan attempts to exploit his lack of mobility, but their teamwork proves effective. However, Universe 6 ultimately loses the match, prompting Champa to make his team train for a rematch.
Universe Survival Saga[edit | edit source]
Magetta joins the rest of Team Universe 6 to participate in the Tournament of Power. At the start of the tournament, he briefly engages Toppo in combat, holding his own despite their significant power gap. Later, Magetta intervenes to save Botamo from being eliminated by Vegeta. Vegeta tries to exploit Magetta's mental sensitivity by insulting him, but Magetta overcomes this weakness by teaming up with Botamo. Together, they form a powerful duo, Bota Magetta, which gives Vegeta a tough battle. Their partnership is disrupted when Kale transforms into her Legendary Super Saiyan form, unleashing a massive ki blast that separates them.
Following Kale's rampage, Magetta fights Rabanra and briefly reacts to Master Roshi saying "Choo-Po," his signature phrase.
Magetta later assists Frost in a confrontation with Vegeta. Stuffing lava and rocks into his ears to block insults, Magetta battles Vegeta in his Super Saiyan form. He deflects Vegeta's Big Bang Attack and endures several ki blasts while protecting Frost. When Master Roshi attempts to trap Magetta using the Evil Containment Wave, Frost intervenes, reflecting the technique back at Vegeta. After Vegeta breaks free, he blasts off Magetta's ear coverings and insults him as a "scrap metal bastard," causing Magetta to lose his will to fight. Left vulnerable, Magetta is kicked out of the arena by Vegeta and eliminated from the tournament.
Following his elimination, Magetta silently observes the ongoing battles. During Gohan and Piccolo's fight against Pirina and Saonel, Champa stands on Magetta's shoulders and encourages him to cheer for their remaining teammates. Ultimately, Universe 6's fighters are defeated, resulting in Magetta and his universe being erased.
In the manga, Magetta fights Piccolo, Gohan, Master Roshi, Tien Shinhan, and Krillin by delivering powerful punches. During the chaos, Frost exploits the battle to knock Krillin and Tien off the arena. Magetta is later eliminated when Legendary Super Saiyan Kale loses control of her power and blasts him out of the arena.
Magetta and Universe 6 are revived when Android 17 uses the Super Dragon Balls to restore all the erased universes.

Attacks and Techniques[edit | edit source]
Enhanced Durability
As a Metalman, Magetta possesses exceptional durability, enduring attacks from opponents stronger than himself. He takes no damage from Super Saiyan Vegeta's strikes, including the Final Flash, despite Vegeta being more powerful. Frost asserts during the Tournament of Power that ordinary attacks are ineffective against him. In the manga, Magetta's resilience leads Piccolo to speculate about his immortality. Throughout his appearances, Magetta has never been shown to sustain injuries.
Extreme Weight
Weighing over 1,000 tons, Magetta's immense weight gives him a significant advantage in combat. During the Tournament of Destroyers, even Super Saiyan Vegeta struggles to move him. In the Tournament of Power, Vegeta in his Super Saiyan Blue form can only push Magetta off the stage when he becomes unbalanced due to insults. In the manga, Legendary Super Saiyan Kale also appears slightly strained when lifting him.
Power-Up
Magetta can increase his power significantly during battles, as seen in his fight with Vegeta. When fully powered up, he emits a red aura similar to the Kaio-Ken, and the lava within his body glows intensely. This power boost increases the heat he generates, releasing strong gusts of hot air.
Lava Spit
Magetta can spit streams of magma from his body. By cooling and solidifying the magma, he can increase its effectiveness. His Lava Spit was strong enough to overpower Vegeta's Galick Gun.
Volcano Explosion (ボルケーノエクスプローション)
A named attack in Dragon Ball Heroes, Magetta powers up and spits a lava ball at his opponent, creating a fiery explosion. This is distinct from Nappa's similarly named technique.
Cooled Lava Club
Magetta can form a weapon by allowing his Lava Spit to cool and solidify, creating a club for close combat.
Temperature Raising
Using his natural magma, Magetta can dramatically increase the temperature in his surroundings, applying pressure to his opponents.
Tornado
By spinning his massive body at high speeds, Magetta creates a tornado-like effect, adding a unique element to his combat style.
Steam Pipe
Magetta can release hot steam from the pipe on his head, using it to obscure his blind spots and create a smokescreen.
High Ki Gas (ハイキーガス)
In Dragon Ball Fusions, Magetta uses his steam as a directed attack, spraying hot steam at his opponents.
Bota Magetta
To counter his weakness to insults, Magetta teams up with Botamo to form Bota Magetta. Botamo sits on Magetta's shoulders and covers his ears to block out insults. This combination makes them a formidable duo, as Botamo's damage-nullifying abilities and elasticity prevent easy separation. Champa mistakenly claims Magetta has strengthened his spirit, though Vegeta notes the strategy relies entirely on Botamo's actions.
Ear Covers
Magetta can craft ear covers from cooled magma to block insults, mitigating his primary weakness.
Ki Blast
Magetta uses basic ki blasts in Dragon Ball Heroes.
Flight
Magetta can fly using ki in Dragon Ball Heroes. However, he cannot fly in the anime or manga, relying on his weight and resilience for grounded combat.
