Appearance[edit | edit source]

Sanka Coo is a youthful, human-like woman with long brown hair, brown eyes, and light green earrings. Her attire includes a dark blue dress with short sleeves, complemented by light green frills and a neckerchief. She also wears dark blue gloves, leggings, and high-heeled shoes.

As Kakunsa, her appearance becomes more feline-like. Her skin turns teal, her hair darkens to blue, and she dons a black mask over her eyes. Her outfit transforms into a dark blue, sleeveless bodysuit, accessorized with green gloves, boots, and a dark blue tail.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Sanka is cheerful and carefree, often striking playful poses, such as winking or forming a V-sign with her fingers when her universe is introduced. However, her personality shifts dramatically as Kakunsa, becoming fierce and animalistic. This feral aggression is evident during her brutal attacks on Android 17, although she retains kindness toward her allies, as shown when she affectionately hugged Bikal after being saved from elimination.

Her loyalty to her teammates and her universe is unwavering. She is enraged by Bikal's elimination and vows revenge. Despite her aggressive tendencies, she is deeply empathetic, comforting Brianne after her defeat and checking on Zarbuto, Rabanra, and Zirloin after they are eliminated, even as the erasure of Universe 2 begins.

Kakunsa demonstrates remarkable courage, showing no fear of erasure. Instead, she transforms to express gratitude to her universe's supporters and cheerfully waves goodbye before vanishing.

Notably, she occasionally speaks in a Kansai-ben dialect, adding a regional flair to her dialogue.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Dragon Ball Super: Universe Survival Saga[edit | edit source]

Sanka first appeared alongside Brianne and Sous in the World of Void as Universe 2's team prepared for the Tournament of Power. When the tournament began, the trio was struck by Narirama's spinning arm attack but quickly recovered and regrouped.

Later, when Universe 2 clashed with Universe 7, Sanka accompanied her teammates. During their first attempt to transform into the Kamikaze Fireballs, the transformation was interrupted by Android 17, who seized the opportunity to attack while they were distracted. However, after 17 was admonished by Brianne, Goku, and Top for his "dishonorable tactic," the Kamikaze Fireballs successfully completed their transformation.

As Kakunsa, Sanka immediately challenged Android 17. Initially, she seemed to have the upper hand in their fight, using her feral fighting style effectively. However, 17's unexpected use of his barrier ability caught her off-guard, and she was knocked toward the edge of the arena. Just before she fell, Bikal intervened, saving her with a timely assist. Overcome with gratitude, Kakunsa embraced Bikal dramatically.

Recognizing Bikal's flight ability as a significant advantage, 17 shifted his focus to her and launched a relentless attack, ultimately eliminating her from the tournament. This infuriated Kakunsa, who resumed her battle with 17. Despite her ferocity, 17 outmaneuvered her, eventually charging up a powerful blast that sent her flying out of the arena.

After her elimination, Kakunsa was transported to Universe 2's bench, where she joined Bikal. Both sat fuming as Ribrianne stepped in to avenge them. Back on the bench, Kakunsa reverted to her base form as Sanka and apologized to Ribrianne for her failure. Overcome with emotion, she broke down in tears, devastated by her early elimination from the tournament.

During Roasie's battle against Goku, Sanka watched excitedly, believing that Roasie had defeated Goku after bombarding him with energy grenades. However, her excitement turned to disappointment when the smoke cleared to reveal that Android 17 had protected Goku using his energy barrier.

When Jimizu was critically injured and subsequently eliminated by Frieza, Sanka joined the other eliminated Universe 2 members in standing protectively over him as Pell tended to his injuries.

Later, during Goku's fight with Ribrianne, Sanka, Roasie, and Heles performed a ritual to lend their energy to Ribrianne, allowing her to transform into a more powerful state. Despite this, Ribrianne was no match for Goku, losing her enhanced form after he struck her with a powerful blow from behind.

As the remaining Universe 2 warriors converged on Goku, Sanka implored Ribrianne and Roasie to avenge her. She showed visible concern during Ribrianne's battle against Android 18 and later played a key role in leading her team to use their Love Wands to transform Brianne into her Super Ribrianne Avatar form. However, even this ultimate form proved insufficient, and Ribrianne was defeated. After the battle, Sanka and Su comforted Brianne, who found solace in the idea that there might be forms of love they had yet to understand.

Sanka then lent her love and energy, along with her teammates, to Zirloin, Rabanra, and Zarbuto, enabling them to transform into their own versions of Ribrianne, Kakunsa, and Roasie. Despite their newfound strength, the trio was ultimately defeated. Sanka tenderly placed her hand on Rabanra’s chest to check on him as Zeno began erasing their universe. In her final moments, Sanka transformed into Kakunsa and expressed gratitude to Universe 2 for their support, cheerfully waving goodbye before she and her universe were erased. Sour remained as Universe 2's sole survivor.

After Universe 2's erasure, Xiangca briefly summoned shadowy illusions of Kakunsa and other erased warriors to aid Damom in a deceptive attack. Kakunsa’s illusion appeared to attack Android 17, but it disappeared after Piccolo eliminated Xiangca.

Sanka was eventually revived along with her universe when Android 17 used the Super Dragon Balls to restore all erased universes. She was seen crying tears of joy alongside her teammates, basking in the cheers of a supportive crowd.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Sanka's transformed identity, Kakunsa, is believed to be a pun on the Japanese word sankaku (meaning "triangle"), likely referencing sankaku bara (tri-tip steak). This is supported by her transformation chant, "sankaku," which she utters before assuming her Kakunsa form. Alternatively, her name might be derived from Kansas steak. Notably, Kakunsa is also an anagram of her full name, Sanka Coo.
  • The scene where Bikal saves Kakunsa from being eliminated is a dramatic parody of shoujo anime romance, hinting at a romantic connection between the two. This implication is further reinforced by Heles' and Ribrianne's remarks about the "power of love" shared by the pair. If confirmed, this marks the first appearance of a lesbian character and a same-sex relationship in the Dragon Ball franchise, following General Blue and Otokosuki as prior LGBTQ+ representations.
  • Kakunsa's intense reaction to Bikal's elimination mirrors Vegeta's furious response to Beerus knocking Bulma unconscious, further suggesting their close bond. During her enraged attacks on Android 17 after Bikal's defeat, Kakunsa refers to Bikal possessively, implying a deeper, possibly romantic connection between the two.
