Copy-Vegeta is created when the liquefied weapon Commenson absorbs the powers of the Saiyan Prince. Beyond just stealing his abilities, Copy-Vegeta also replicates Vegeta's spirit, personality, memories, and fighting techniques, all while causing the real Vegeta to gradually disappear unless he is defeated. When Gotenks fails miserably against Copy-Vegeta, Vegeta's longtime rival, Goku, steps in for yet another (sort of) battle against him.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Copy-Vegeta looks identical to Vegeta but has a completely purple body, red eyes, and a melted appearance due to his goo-like composition.

Personality[edit | edit source]

As a clone of Vegeta, Copy-Vegeta shares a similar personality to the Saiyan prince. He behaves much like Vegeta did before his reformation, taking sadistic pleasure in looking down on the weak and killing them. Although aware of his artificial origins, he insists that he is the real Vegeta, while the original is merely a shadow of his former self. He also inherits Vegeta's strong competitive nature and long-standing rivalry with Goku.

Unlike the typical victim of Commeson, Copy-Vegeta’s strong Saiyan beliefs—carried over from the original Vegeta—allow him to resist the weapon's control. This is evident when, confronted by Goku, Copy-Vegeta expresses a desire to fight him to the death, ignoring orders to absorb Goku's power. He also maintains Vegeta's independent streak, refusing to gain strength from anything beyond his own efforts. He even shows signs of Vegeta's emotions, such as hesitating when Copy-Gryll orders him to absorb Trunks, owing to Vegeta's love for his son—though this sentiment is not strong enough to break free from Commeson's influence.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Dragon Ball Super[edit | edit source]

Copy-Vegeta Saga[edit | edit source]

After Gryll and his henchmen are cloned by Commeson, Vegeta defeats them when they attack Goten and Trunks, causing them to dissolve into Commeson puddles. The substance then engulfs Vegeta, absorbing his power and spitting him out in a weakened state, while taking on his form.

Copy-Vegeta showcases his power by using a Galick Gun to destroy a nearby cliff. Following Cloned Gryll's orders, he tries to absorb Trunks but hesitates, a moment noticed by the original Vegeta. Jaco intervenes and saves Trunks, allowing them all to escape. Later, Copy-Vegeta faces Trunks and Goten, who have learned about Commeson's nature from Potage. The boys fuse into Gotenks to battle Copy-Vegeta, but even in his Super Saiyan 3 form, Gotenks is outmatched. Copy-Vegeta withstands all of Gotenks' attacks and, after separating the fusion, prepares to finish off Goten and Trunks, only to be interrupted by Goku.

Initially mistaking Copy-Vegeta for the real Vegeta, Goku is soon informed by Goten, Trunks, and a now-transparent Vegeta that he must defeat the clone quickly to prevent the original Vegeta from disappearing. Copy-Vegeta, excited by the chance for battle, defies orders to absorb Goku's power, instead choosing a direct fight. Displaying Vegeta's will, he overcomes Cloned Gryll's control and defeats his fellow Commeson clone with a single punch. He then engages Goku in battle, with Goku realizing that Copy-Vegeta is just as strong as the original.

The two are evenly matched, but Vegeta grows frustrated by Copy-Vegeta's sloppy fighting style. As Vegeta tries to attack, his hand passes through the clone's body. Copy-Vegeta taunts him, telling him to stay quiet on the sidelines. Vegeta urges both Goku and his Copy- to defeat each other quickly, leaving them confused about whose side he is on. Running short on time, Goku transforms into Super Saiyan Blue to finish the fight, surprising everyone as Copy-Vegeta does the same. The battle continues, and Copy-Vegeta mocks Vegeta about fading away, promising to leave him with a memory of Goku's defeat to carry into the Other World.

As they clash, the core of Commeson, now free due to Cloned Gryll's defeat, tries to attack Trunks from behind. Vegeta attempts to save him but phases through, as he is nearly disappearing. Monaka accidentally steps on the Commeson core, weakening both it and Copy-Vegeta. Seizing the opportunity, Goku fires a God Kamehameha, destroying the already weakened Copy-Vegeta and ending his reign for good.

Notable Attacks/Techniques[edit | edit source]

  • Galick Gun - Vegeta's signature attack that was copied. Copy-Vegeta used this to demonstrate his power to Vegeta, firing at a cliff behind him.
  • Absorption - Being a copy of Commeson, Copy-Vegeta has the ability to absorb others into Commeson's being, in order to create Commeson copies of them. He attempted to absorb Trunks, but was stopped by Jaco.
  • Final Blow - A powerful punch to the gut used by Copy- Vegeta to defeat Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks. Another technique copied from Vegeta.
  • Niagara Pummel - A rush attack where they launch multiple barrage of punches at the opponent that is used by Copy- Vegeta to overwhelm Goku during their battle at Potaufeu. Another technique copied from Vegeta.
  • Continuous Energy Bullet - A barrage of ki blasts used by Copy-Vegeta against Goku, who manages to block them.
    • Clone Rush - Copy-Vegeta's Super Attack used by him in both his God-like Saiyan and Super Saiyan God SS forms in Dokkan Battle. The technique differs slightly between the two forms but both involve him firing a energy barrage followed by him dashing around the opponent and delivering really fast rush attacks generating purple streaks (the result his purple Commeson body flying around so fast) and a circular cloud of dust and smoke.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Copy-Vegeta's design resembles Vegeta (or any other character) in the Villainous Mode state from Dragon Ball Xenoverse.
  • He shares similarities with Majin Vegeta, as both prioritize defeating Goku and can defy their masters' orders—something typically impossible for their respective masters' victims.
  • Copy-Vegeta is also similar to Janemba's demonic Majin Vegeta clone, who similarly rebelled against his creator. Both Janemba's clone and Copy-Vegeta's refusal to serve their creators, along with the original Majin Vegeta's defiance against Babidi, likely stem from Vegeta's past servitude to Frieza, which he despised due to his Saiyan pride, as noted by Goku after Vegeta's death on Namek.
  • Unlike Clone Vegetas, who are also copies of Vegeta (like Janemba's Majin Vegeta and Copy- Vegeta), these clones are mindless, rapidly-growing beings created by Android 21 to serve as a food source to control her hunger. Their lack of personality prevents them from rebelling like Copy- Vegeta and Janemba's Majin Vegeta.
  • The crosslines on Copy- Vegeta's face resemble those on Vegeta in Dragon Ball GT when he is infected by Baby. Coincidentally, both Baby and the Commeson copies are artificial lifeforms.
  • In the Funimation dub of Dragon Ball Super, Copy-Vegeta is voiced by Brian Drummond, who was the voice of Vegeta in the Ocean Group dubs of Dragon Ball Z and the first to voice Vegeta in English. This marks the first time an Ocean Group voice actor has participated in the Funimation dub. Drummond is famously known for the "It's Over 9000!" meme, which originated from his portrayal of Vegeta in Dragon Ball Z. According to Drummond, this opportunity came about when Chris Sabat (who also directs the dub) reached out to him via Twitter to propose the idea, to which Drummond immediately agreed.
  • Drummond being cast as Copy-Vegeta's English voice actor is another example of the Funimation dub referencing the original English dub of Dragon Ball Z. Another instance is when Dr. Mashirito's ghost refers to Hell as the "Home For Infinite Losers," despite the fact that the Dragon Ball Super dub does not censor the word "Hell."
