Botamo is a tall, humanoid bear-like fighter with a glossy yellow complexion. Despite his large and seemingly bulky frame, he is surprisingly fast and agile. He has a brown nose, a small yellow tail, and a rubber-like body that makes him highly resilient, to the point that Vegeta once tied his arms into a knot without causing any harm. Botamo wears a red tank top covering his upper body, orange-red wristbands, and a pair of matching red boots.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Botamo is confident and prideful in his abilities, often to the point of overconfidence, which has led to his downfall in both the Tournament of Destroyers and the Tournament of Power. Despite this, he shows a range of emotions, including anguish when defeated by Goku and Gohan. Botamo also demonstrates a degree of sympathy, as seen when he comforted Magetta after Vegeta's harsh insults. His camaraderie with Magetta is notable, as the two share a friendly relationship and cooperate effectively in battles. Their teamwork is showcased in both tournaments, with Magetta saving Botamo from elimination and the pair working together to challenge Vegeta.

Dragon Ball Super[edit | edit source]
Universe 6 Saga[edit | edit source]
Botamo, a member of an unknown race in Universe 6, is chosen by Vados to join Team Universe 6 for the Tournament of Destroyers against Universe 7. On the day of the tournament, Botamo arrives with his teammates Hit, Cabba, Frost, and Magetta. After passing the written test, he faces Goku in the first round. Initially, Botamo charges at Goku but struggles to keep up as Goku avoids his attacks to burn off excess energy from overeating. Despite his inability to harm Goku, Botamo's rubber-like body makes him impervious to punches, kicks, and even Goku's Kamehameha. Ultimately, Goku exploits Botamo’s lack of mobility, grabs his legs, and drags him to the edge of the ring before throwing him out, resulting in a ring-out elimination.
After his loss, Botamo watches the tournament from the sidelines and is later seen comforting Magetta, who is upset by Vegeta's insults. Following Universe 7's victory, an enraged Champa threatens to destroy his team, leaving Botamo visibly frightened until Zeno’s arrival defuses the situation.
"Future" Trunks Saga[edit | edit source]
Later, Botamo reunites with Team Universe 6 for a friendly baseball match against Team Universe 7. Despite their efforts, they lose the game when Yamcha scores the winning point. In response, Champa forces Botamo, Cabba, and Magetta to undergo additional training.
Universe Survival Saga[edit | edit source]
Botamo participates in the Tournament of Power as part of Team Universe 6. During the initial Battle Royal, he joins forces with Lavender, Shosa, Comfrey, and Dercori to fight Universe 7's fighters, only to be outmaneuvered and attacked from above after Tien's Solar Flare blinds them.
Later, Botamo confronts Vegeta, who initially struggles to deal with his invulnerability. Vegeta ties Botamo’s arms into a knot, rendering him unable to resist a potential ring-out. However, Magetta intervenes, saving Botamo and forming a duo with him known as Bota Magetta. The pair challenge Vegeta and briefly overwhelm him before Kale’s Legendary Super Saiyan transformation disrupts their efforts with a massive ki attack.
Botamo later faces Gohan, who lands continuous punches despite Botamo’s Botamo Shield nullifying the damage. Gohan exploits this by lifting and pushing Botamo toward the edge of the arena. Unable to counter effectively, Botamo is eliminated after Gohan kicks him out and blasts him with a Kamehameha. He is the first member of Universe 6 to be eliminated. After Universe 6's final defeat, Botamo is erased along with his teammates but is later revived when Android 17 uses the Super Dragon Balls to restore all erased universes.

Attacks and Techniques[edit | edit source]
Flight
Botamo can manipulate ki to achieve flight, a common ability among skilled fighters in the Dragon Ball series.
Botamo Shield
This ability allows Botamo to nullify damage from any attack. However, while the attacks do not hurt him, their force can knock him around or off balance. Piccolo and Vegeta note that even a Super Saiyan Goku cannot damage Botamo, though they speculate that Goku in his Super Saiyan Blue form might be able to overcome this defense.
Super Flexible Body
Botamo's body is incredibly pliable and elastic, making him resistant to conventional physical harm and giving him unique mobility.
Bouncing
Due to his body’s structure, Botamo can bounce off surfaces with ease. This allows him to gain momentum for attacks or evade opponents.
Botamo Impact
In this technique, Botamo uses his bouncing ability to launch himself at opponents, attacking them with powerful body slams. His damage nullification ensures he remains unharmed during the assault.
Botamo Press (ボタモプレス)
A move where Botamo makes short hops on his rear before delivering a devastating body slam to his opponent. This technique is named and used in Dragon Ball Fusions.
Botamo Beam
Botamo can fire energy-based attacks in the form of beams or energy balls. He utilizes these to defend himself, as seen when he fires them at Goku in an attempt to avoid being dragged off the arena. He can generate these energy attacks from his hands, mouth, and even ears. The technique is named in Dragon Ball Fusions.
Enhanced Stamina
Botamo has exceptional stamina, as he does not lose energy unless he sustains damage. This makes him a durable and relentless opponent in prolonged battles.
Bota Magetta
A collaborative move with Auta Magetta. In this strategy, Botamo sits on Magetta’s shoulders and covers his ears to shield him from insults, Magetta’s main weakness. This tactic also leverages Botamo’s damage nullification abilities, making it difficult for opponents to dislodge him. Despite Champa's claim that Magetta has strengthened his resolve, Vegeta correctly observes that this strategy simply compensates for Magetta’s emotional vulnerability.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Botamo's name is derived from botamochi, a traditional Japanese confectionery.
- Among the Universe 6 warriors who competed in the Tournament of Destroyers, Botamo is the only one who does not appear in the second opening of Dragon Ball Super, "Genkaitoppa X Survivor".
- Botamo's design—a yellow bear with a red shirt and an exposed belly—may be inspired by Walt Disney's depiction of A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh. His glossy, sleek skin could also be influenced by the appearance of bear-shaped honey bottles when filled with honey.
