South Supreme Kai is the largest of the Universe 7 Supreme Kais. He sports a tall ginger mohawk and bears a slight resemblance to Android 16.
Personality[edit | edit source]
South Supreme Kai is portrayed as a brave and selfless protector, willing to confront immensely powerful foes to safeguard the universe. His fearlessness is evident in his willingness to face Moro, a planet-destroying wizard, alongside the Grand Supreme Kai, and later to battle Majin Buu despite the overwhelming odds. He demonstrates resilience and combat prowess, managing to hold his own against Buu for a time.
While his strength and determination are remarkable, South Supreme Kai also displays a sense of duty and loyalty, especially as an apprentice to the Grand Supreme Kai. His dedication to his role as a Supreme Kai highlights his commitment to maintaining balance and protecting life in Universe 7.
However, his fate also suggests a degree of vulnerability, as his absorption by Majin Buu ultimately led to his permanent fusion with the creature, symbolizing both his sacrifice and the tragic consequences of his confrontation with overwhelming evil.

Background[edit | edit source]
South Supreme Kai lived peacefully on the Sacred World of the Kai alongside the other Supreme Kais. Ten million years ago, he and the Grand Supreme Kai confronted the evil wizard Moro, who had destroyed the Iragi Star System and caused mass extinctions on 320 planets. However, Moro's immense power forced the Grand Supreme Kai to deplete his godly energy to seal away Moro's magic, allowing the Galactic Police to imprison the wizard. During this period, South Supreme Kai was still an apprentice, as evidenced by his lack of the green Potara earrings that signify a fully-fledged Supreme Kai.
When Majin Buu began his rampage, South Supreme Kai stepped up to face the creature after West and North Supreme Kais were killed. He initially held his own, countering Buu's attacks, landing a headbutt, and even tearing off Buu's arm, causing the monster significant pain. However, Buu quickly gained the upper hand, dodging the Kai's Energy Sphere and delivering a devastating kick to his back. South Supreme Kai was ultimately defeated and absorbed by Buu in a surprise attack. This absorption transformed Buu into a larger, more muscular form.
Following his absorption, South Supreme Kai became permanently fused within Buu's being. Like the Grand Supreme Kai, his essence remains trapped, contributing to Buu's innocent form for the next several million years.

In the third Jaaku Mission trailer, South Supreme Kai is depicted battling alongside Goku, Vegeta, Beat, and Note against Kid Buu. Despite their combined efforts, Buu regenerates from their attacks and absorbs South Supreme Kai, transforming into his hulking form while the Black Smoke Shenron observes the battle.

- Mighty Powerful God Shockwave – South Supreme Kai charges up a green Full Power Energy Ball in his hand, then rushes towards the opponent and fires it a point-blank range, inflicting massive damage. If the attack misses the target, the sphere will become a homing energy blast.
- Thunder Clap – South Supreme Kai smashes both sides of his opponent's head with his hands. Used against Buu and named in the Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game.

- South Supreme Kai, despite being the most powerful of Universe 7's Supreme Kais, hails from the quadrant with the weakest fighters, as evidenced in the Other World Tournament.
- Among the Supreme Kais, he and the Grand Supreme Kai are the only ones depicted in the manga, despite all being mentioned.
- Interestingly, South Supreme Kai shares this distinction with South Kai, who, alongside North Kai, is the only one of the four Kais to appear in the manga.
