Appearance[edit | edit source]
Bio-Men bear a strong resemblance to Saibamen but have unique features distinguishing them: dark gray and blue skin, birdlike faces, beady red eyes, and black claws and talons.
Personality[edit | edit source]
The Bio-Men, while largely portrayed as expendable warriors with no deep individual personalities, exhibit certain traits that reflect their creators' intentions. They are programmed to follow orders and perform tasks without hesitation, making them efficient and obedient soldiers. Despite their lack of complexity, their actions demonstrate a level of strategic thinking, particularly when they work together to take hostages or overpower enemies in groups. They are often seen as loyal to Dr. Kochin and Dr. Wheelo, executing their plans with ruthless efficiency.
In the Dragon Ball Z films and Dokkan Battle, the Bio-Men display little to no emotion, following their directives without question. They do, however, show some degree of verbal communication, unlike their more primitive counterparts, the Saibamen, which suggests a higher level of intelligence and capability for tactics. This reflects the advanced nature of their biotech compared to the Saibamen, and their creators' desire for a more controlled and strategic approach to combat.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Dragon Ball Z: The World's Strongest[edit | edit source]
The Bio-Men first appear launching a surprise attack on Gohan, using their numbers to overwhelm him. Piccolo intervenes, managing to overpower the Bio-Men and even killing one with his Explosive Breath Cannon, but he is eventually subdued by Dr. Wheelo and Dr. Kochin's other minions. The Bio-Men later confront Master Roshi, who proves to be more than a match for them in combat. However, when Dr. Kochin distracts Roshi, the Bio-Men capture Bulma and use her as leverage, threatening her life to coerce Roshi into accompanying them to Dr. Wheelo's laboratory.
Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn[edit | edit source]
The Bio-Men make a brief cameo as part of the Hell residents who escape during the events of Fusion Reborn.
Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle[edit | edit source]
In Dokkan Battle, the Bio-Men appear as enemies in Quest Mode Area 26: "Demonic Technology." They serve as the stage boss in Stage 3: "Bio-Soldier" of the same area.
In the storyline, dimensional distortions cause the Bio-Men to resurface. Future Trunks and his Time Patroller partner investigate the phenomenon for King Kai and discover that Dr. Gero has teamed up with the demonic scientist Dr. Kochin. Dr. Kochin brings an army of Bio-Men to aid Dr. Gero and his android subordinates, including a reprogrammed Android 16 and an upgraded Android 19.
Despite the Bio-Men and androids posing a significant threat, Future Trunks and his partner defeat them. This forces Dr. Gero and Dr. Kochin to reveal their trump card: a brainwashed Piccolo. However, the Time Patrollers manage to free Piccolo from their control and ultimately defeat both scientists, putting an end to their schemes once and for all.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The Bio-Men share a strong resemblance to Saibamen, but their bluish-gray skin and distinct facial features make them easily distinguishable. Unlike Saibamen, Bio-Men are more verbal but appear to be weaker in terms of raw power. Piccolo kills one Bio-Man in a manner reminiscent of his battle with the last Saibaman used by Nappa on Earth.
- It is speculated that Dr. Kochin may have created the Bio-Men after studying Saibaman seeds left behind by Nappa or other Saiyans. Alternatively, they might have been created using similar biotechnology employed by the Saiyans to develop Saibamen.
- A scene in The World's Strongest shows Gohan dreaming of Piccolo shielding him from Nappa's Bomber DX attack. This suggests the movie takes place after the Saiyan invasion of Earth. However, since Goku is not depicted as a Super Saiyan, it implies Piccolo did not die from Nappa's attack, thus eliminating the necessity for the events on Namek. This timeline could have allowed Dr. Kochin to study Saibamen seeds and develop the Bio-Men.
- Earthlings, especially scientists like Bulma, have demonstrated the ability to reverse-engineer Saiyan technology, such as repairing Raditz's scouter. Dr. Kochin and Dr. Wheelo's ability to create biotechnology comparable to Saiyan bioengineering is plausible, though their Bio-Men are less advanced than the creations of Dr. Gero, whose androids and Bio-Androids rival Super Saiyans. The Bio-Men, by contrast, struggled against Master Roshi and resorted to taking Bulma hostage, a sign of their limitations stemming from outdated biotechnology (at least 50 years behind Dr. Gero's advancements).
- In Dragon Ball Heroes, Tuffle scientist Dr. Lychee and Machine Mutant scientist Dr. Myuu developed their own variants of Bio-Men. Dr. Gero also created red Bio-Men variants and a specialized team of Saibamen known as the Saiba Rangers.
- Bio-Men are implied to have an advantage over Saibamen in intelligence and tactics. While Saibamen rely on primitive and brutal methods like acid attacks and self-destruction, Bio-Men can speak, plan, and execute advanced strategies such as taking hostages. This reflects the differing philosophies of their creators: Saiyans use Saibamen as disposable tools for combat and training, whereas Dr. Kochin, a methodical mad scientist, designed Bio-Men to be foot soldiers in his and Dr. Wheelo's plans for world domination.
