Appearance[edit | edit source]

Angila is a tall, striking alien with cyan skin, pointed ears, small horns, and long, shaggy blonde hair. His attire resembles Ancient Greek fashion, featuring a light purple toga wrap, a purple bandana, red earrings, blue bracers, a purple cape, white pants, and dark orange-and-blue boots.

In the original Lord Slug cover art, Angila's clothing appears red instead of blue, and his skin tone is depicted as light green rather than cyan.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Angila is serious, arrogant, and vain, with unwavering loyalty to Lord Slug. He follows orders without hesitation or question, even reprimanding others for doubting Lord Slug’s commands. He remains unfazed when Lord Slug kills Commander Zeeun for mentioning his age and scolds Medamatcha for questioning Slug's demand to locate the Dragon Balls within an hour.

Angila exhibits a merciless streak, killing an innocent civilian without hesitation to obtain a Dragon Ball for Lord Slug. He shows no concern when Piccolo kills his comrade Wings, dismissing him as a fool. However, he reveals a touch of vanity by complaining about getting dirty during his "day off."

Despite his arrogance, Angila displays concern when Medamatcha is swiftly defeated by Goku. In battle, he is cocky and ruthless, taunting his opponents and resorting to underhanded tactics for an advantage.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug[edit | edit source]

On Earth, Angila, Wings, Medamatcha, and three other soldiers successfully gather the Dragon Balls for Lord Slug in under an hour. Angila ruthlessly kills a villager in a small village to secure the Three-Star Dragon Ball.

Later, after Piccolo kills Wings and intervenes to save Gohan from Medamatcha, Angila ambushes him by grabbing him and lifting him into the sky. Piccolo counters by blasting Angila with an energy attack, forcing him to release his grip. This allows Piccolo to shield a severely injured Gohan from Medamatcha's attempt to finish him off with an energy blast.

Angila rejoins Medamatcha in the fight against Piccolo, and together they unleash a relentless barrage of Full Power Energy Blast Volleys, inflicting further damage on the Namekian.

The tide shifts with Goku's arrival. Checking on the injured Gohan and Piccolo, Goku warns Angila and Medamatcha to leave Earth or face destruction. Dismissing his warning, the two attack Goku, who easily evades their strikes, stunning them. Goku counters by throwing Medamatcha into Lord Slug’s ship.

Angila extends his arms underground, using them to immobilize Goku, and calls for Medamatcha to release the Medas. The Medas attach to Goku, but he remains unfazed. Medamatcha attempts a sneak attack from behind, only to be stopped by a punch to his stomach that sends him flying. Powering up, Goku incinerates the Medas with his energy.

As Medamatcha plummets, Angila, enraged, fires a Mouth Energy Wave at Goku. However, Goku deflects the blast back at Angila, hitting him directly. The attack explodes inside Angila's mouth, causing his head to detonate and killing him instantly.

Super Dragon Ball Heroes[edit | edit source]

Supreme Kai of Time Saga[edit | edit source]

Angila's incarnation from Lord Slug's timeline appears as a participant in the Super Space-Time Tournament alongside his clan. In the manga, Angila, Commander Zeeun, and Wings form a team with Yamu, Spopovich, Yakon, Recoome, Jeice, and Guldo to face Yamcha. However, their efforts are futile, as Jiren intervenes and defeats them all with a single strike. Due to their team's failure to progress to the second round, Angila and his respective space-time are erased.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Angila is one of the rare henchmen in the Dragon Ball films to be shown explicitly taking a life, killing a villager to obtain a Dragon Ball. He shares this distinction with Bido, who kills Doskoi in Bojack Unbound.
  • Like the other members of Lord Slug's crew, Angila's name is derived from the Andromeda galaxy. Additionally, his name can be interpreted as "one glare."
