Recoome (リクーム, Rikūmu) is a member of the Ginyu Force, known for his flamboyant and goofy demeanor, which contrasts with his brutal fighting style.

Appearance

Recoome is a tall, muscular fighter with shaggy orange hair, beady eyes, and a cleft chin, giving him a somewhat human-like appearance. He wears a green scouter on his left eye and is dressed in the Ginyu Force's variant of the Battle Armor, which includes a short black jumpsuit, white gloves, and white boots. The Ginyu Force's symbol is displayed on one of his chest plates.

Personality

Recoome is the most flamboyant member of the Ginyu Force, often striking poses even more frequently than Captain Ginyu. Despite his brutish and simple appearance, Recoome is quite intelligent and sadistic, deriving great joy from the suffering of his opponents. He enjoys toying with his foes, using taunts and drawing them into fights, often placing bets and playing games like Rock-Paper-Scissors to determine who will fight.

Though he can be cruel and mean-spirited, Recoome has a strong camaraderie with his fellow Ginyu Force members, especially Guldo. He is shown to be shocked and saddened by Guldo's death, indicating his close bond with his teammates. Recoome's personality also includes a mix of crassness and effeminacy; he practiced ballet as a child and often behaves in a goofy manner.

Despite his cruelty, Recoome respects those who continue to fight against overwhelming odds, as seen in his admiration for Gohan's determination. He also enjoys fighting opponents who give him some trouble, as indicated by his appreciation for Vegeta's underhanded tactics.

Biography

Background

Recoome, like the other members of the Ginyu Force, developed his special powers during his childhood. He practiced dance, which contributed to his agility and the various battle poses he would later become known for. Eventually, Recoome was recruited into the Ginyu Force, an elite team of mercenaries under the command of Frieza.

Dragon Ball Z

Frieza Saga

Recoome and the Ginyu Force were summoned by Frieza to assist him on Namek. Their mission was to retrieve the Dragon Balls and eliminate any opposition, including Vegeta, Krillin, and Gohan, who were trying to use the Dragon Balls to grant Vegeta immortality. After arriving on Namek, the Ginyu Force decided who would face which opponent through a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors. Recoome won and chose to fight Vegeta.

In the ensuing battle, Vegeta attempted several powerful attacks and strategies, but Recoome emerged unscathed, though his Battle Armor was destroyed. Despite Vegeta's best efforts, Recoome overpowered him, leaving him severely wounded. Just as Recoome was about to finish off Vegeta with his Eraser Gun, Krillin and Gohan intervened, saving Vegeta from certain death.

Recoome, angered by Krillin's interference, retaliated by severely injuring him with a single kick to the head. He then turned his attention to Gohan, whom he admired for his bravery. However, Recoome ultimately showed no mercy, brutally injuring Gohan by cracking his neck with a powerful kick. As Recoome prepared to finish off the three warriors, Goku arrived on the battlefield.

Battle Damaged

Unfazed by Goku's arrival, Recoome mocked him and prepared to unleash his most powerful attack, the Recoome Ultra Fighting Bomber. However, Goku quickly incapacitated Recoome with a single blow to the stomach, leaving him unconscious. Later, after Goku defeated the remaining members of the Ginyu Force, Vegeta killed the unconscious Recoome with a powerful Energy Wave.

Recoome later appeared on King Kai's Planet along with the other deceased members of the Ginyu Force (except for Captain Ginyu, who was still alive). There, he encountered Tien Shinhan, Chiaotzu, and Yamcha. Despite his previous strength, Recoome was quickly defeated by Yamcha, who had grown much stronger from his training on King Kai's Planet. Yamcha dispatched Recoome using his Ki Blast Thrust technique, sending him and the rest of the Ginyu Force to Hell.

Majin Buu Saga

In the Majin Buu Saga of the anime, Recoome appears in Hell after the Grand Kai informs Goku and Pikkon of the chaos spreading there. Along with the other members of the Ginyu Force, Frieza, King Cold, and Cell, Recoome attempts to seize control of Hell by threatening the resident ogres. However, Goku and Pikkon arrive to restore order. Recoome, along with the rest of the Ginyu Force, attacks Goku simultaneously but is easily defeated. Goku knocks Recoome unconscious with a single elbow strike to the back of the neck, sending him into a blood pond. Pikkon then uses his Hyper Tornado technique to create a whirlpool that sweeps the villains up and drops them onto a mountain of needles, impaling them.

Later, Recoome and the others are imprisoned in a cell in Hell. In the Funimation dub, while in the cell, Recoome suggests an arm-wrestling challenge to the other villains, but they all respond with a resounding "shut up!" (In the Ocean Group dubs, they simply say "NO!"). Recoome is later seen with the other past villains watching the final battle between Kid Buu and Goku on a giant crystal ball.

Dragon Ball Super

"Future" Trunks Saga:

Recoome appears as an illusion in the when Goku and Krillin are sent into a forest to retrieve a special herb for Master Roshi. The illusion of Recoome, along with other past villains from the Z-Fighters' history, challenges Goku and Krillin during their quest.

Broly:

Recoome and the rest of the Ginyu Force are present during King Cold and Frieza's visit to Planet Vegeta. They accompany King Cold and Frieza as they inform the Saiyan Army of King Cold's retirement and his decision to hand over control of his empire to Frieza.

Super Dragon Ball Heroes

Supreme Kai of Time Saga:

Recoome participates in the Super Space-Time Tournament alongside the rest of the Ginyu Force. In the manga, Recoome, Jeice, and Guldo team up with several other villains, including Commander Zeeun, Wings, Angila, Yamu, Spopovich, and Yakon, to take on Yamcha, but they are all defeated in a single blow by Jiren. Recoome's energy wave is also kicked away by Salza during the battle. As a result of their team failing to advance to the second round, Recoome and his space-time are erased.

Demon Invader Saga:

In one specific Space-Time, Recoome is absorbed by Majin Ozotto.

Dragon Ball GT

Super 17 Saga:

Recoome makes a brief appearance in Dragon Ball GT during the Super 17 Saga. He is seen flying out of Hell along with a large number of other villains during a news broadcast.

Film Appearances

Fusion Reborn:

Recoome escapes from Hell along with Burter, Jeice, and several other previous villains, only to be defeated and sent back to Hell once again.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

• Flight – The ability to fly with the use of ki.
  • Speed Up – Recoome releases ki from his feet in order to increase his speed, allowing him to dodge the opponent's attacks and get right behind them in order to attack.
• Ki Blast – The most basic form of energy wave.
• Enhanced Endurance – Recoome has greater endurance than he should have, as shown by how he took Vegeta's barrage of hits and Final Crash without any wounds and took multiple off-guard attacks without severe injury.
• Recoome Eraser Gun – A Mouth Energy Wave that is Recoome's signature technique. It is so powerful that Krillin remarks the technique warped the very planet (Namek) itself.
  • Recoome Ultra Eraser Gun – A more powerful version of the Eraser Gun. Used in the video game Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit.

• Recoome Renegade Bomber – Also known as Recoome Boomba, it is the Continuous Energy Bullet technique he used against Gohan.
• Recoome Fighting Bomber – Recoome's version of the Super Explosive Wave. Also called Recoome Kaboom.
• Bakuhatsuha – An Exploding Wave performed similarly to the Recoome Fighting Bomber. Used in Legend of the Super Saiyan.
• Recoome Boom – The powerful elbow strike he used against Vegeta. Named Recoome Elbow in the Japanese version.
• Recoome Kick – The powerful knee strike he used against Vegeta. In the Raging Blast Series, it is Recoome's signature attack.
• Recoome Hip Attack – The powerful bottom thrust he used against Gohan.
• Recoome Mach Punch – The powerful punch he used against Goku.
• Super Breath – Recoome inhales deeply and then exhales creating a huge gust of wind similar to a hurricane. Recoome used this technique to counter Gohan's Masenko on Namek.
• Bomb Aggression – A Full Power Energy Wave/Full Power Energy Ball that is one of his super techniques in the Butōden series.
• Catapult – Recoome throws his opponent up in the air and headbutts them in the back as the opponent lands on him. Used in the Butōden series.
• Recoome Death Driver – The powerbomb he used on Vegeta. Named in Dragon Ball Z: The Legend, it is also known as Recoome Mahha Attack, Recoome Driver, or "Recoome Tecerot Soraibomb" in the Butōden series and The Legend.
• Meteo Guillotine – Recoome's Meteor Attack in Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Battle 22. He performs his catapult technique, then he catches his opponent in mid-air and performs his powerbomb technique, and finally he performs his Hip Attack.
• Recoome Hyper Swing – Recoome grabs the opponent's head, jumps up in the air while swinging them over his head, and when he gets high enough up in the air, he rushes to the ground and violently smashes the opponent's head to the floor. Used in the Budokai series.
• Recoome Buster Magnum – Recoome kicks the opponent up in the air, then kicks them in the stomach, knees them in the head, and lastly, he makes a powerful kick that sends the opponent down to the ground. Used in the Budokai series.

  • Special Fighting Pose 3 – One of his fighting poses named in the Budokai series.
  • Special Fighting Pose 4 – One of his fighting poses named in the Budokai series.
  • SP Fighting Pose 1 – One of his fighting poses. It is a Blast 1 in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, as well as a Super Attack named Recoome Pose in the Raging Blast series.
  • Recoome Fighting Pose – Recoome poses and increases his endurance, causing him to be able to shrug off staggering moves for a brief period of time. Used in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z.
• False Courage – One of his Blast 1 in the Budokai Tenkaichi series. He performs the Special Fighting Pose 3 while performing this.

Trivia

• Name Pun: Recoome's name is a pun on the word "cream." Viz Media's manga adaptation uses the spelling "Reacoom" to reflect this pun, while the "Recoome" spelling also reflects the pun when "cream" is spelled as "creme." In the Xenoverse series, Curtis Arnott (AKA Takahata101 from TeamFourStar's Dragon Ball Z: Abridged) humorously refers to Recoome as "Creamer" when performing Recoome's skills, in keeping with the trend of referring to Ginyu Force members by dairy product names.
• Corpse Continuity: Although Vegeta seemingly kills Recoome with an energy blast, his corpse is later seen when Gohan flies over the battlefield during Goku's fight with Frieza. This suggests that the energy blast killed but didn't completely annihilate Recoome. In contrast, in Dragon Ball Z Kai, Recoome's corpse is never shown, implying that he was completely destroyed like Jeice.
• Dub Differences: In the Ocean dub, Recoome is given a more intellectual and sophisticated voice and accent, while in the Funimation dub, he sounds more oafish and slow-witted, matching his dimwitted appearance. Additionally, Vegeta refers to Recoome as an "overgrown android" in the Ocean dub, despite Recoome never being identified as one. This might have been done to censor the bodily damage Recoome suffered or due to his resemblance to Android 16.
• Censorship: Recoome's prone form or corpse on Namek is often digitally painted to remove his visible buttcrack as a form of censorship in foreign markets.
• Betting with Burter: In the Ocean dub, Recoome and Burter make a bet over Guldo's fight with Krillin and Gohan. Recoome forgets who he bet on, allowing Burter to cheat and claim a chocolate nut bar. In the original Japanese version, they simply bet on how long Krillin and Gohan will last against Guldo, and Burter wins the bet fairly.
• Consistent Voice Actor: Recoome is the only member of the Ginyu Force to have the same English voice actor in both the original Funimation dub and the Dragon Ball Z Kai dub.
