Olibu is a tall, fair-skinned man with long blond hair and striking purple eyes. Towering at least two feet above Goku, his imposing frame is muscular and well-built. He wears white Ancient Greek-style robes, complemented by brown suspenders, a belt, wrist and shin bands, and light brown boots. His outfit is accented by an orange headband, giving him a heroic and timeless appearance.

Olibu embodies the spirit of a noble and selfless hero. He is humble despite his extraordinary strength and legendary status, treating allies and opponents alike with respect and fairness. His dedication to training for thousands of years on the Grand Kai's Planet reflects his tireless pursuit of self-improvement and mastery.

Olibu’s courage is unwavering, as seen when he fearlessly challenges powerful foes like Pikkon and even taunts Kid Buu alongside Pikkon, despite the immense danger. His actions demonstrate a strong sense of duty and camaraderie, always standing alongside his comrades in the face of adversity.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Dragon Ball Z – Majin Buu Saga[edit | edit source]

Olibu's heroic deeds during his lifetime became the basis for many of Earth's legendary tales. According to King Kai, his legacy may have even inspired structures like Korin Tower on Earth, as hinted in the anime filler.

After his heroic life, Olibu was granted the honor of living and training on the Grand Kai's Planet, where he continued honing his skills for 10,000 years before meeting Goku in the Other World. During the Other World Tournament, Olibu showcased his prowess by defeating Chapuchai but ultimately lost to Pikkon in the quarterfinals.

Later, Olibu sparred with Gorilla alongside Yamcha and appeared taunting Kid Buu with Pikkon. Although Kid Buu nearly destroyed him with the Shocking Ball, the villain shifted focus to Goku and Vegeta upon sensing their energy. Olibu's final appearance in Dragon Ball Z is among the crowd of fighters observing Goku's epic battle with Kid Buu.

Super Dragon Ball Heroes – Supreme Kai of Time Saga[edit | edit source]

In Super Dragon Ball Heroes, an incarnation of Olibu is summoned during the climactic battle against Dark King Demigra and his army. He confronts the formidable Transcended Golden Meta-Cooler, standing alongside other legendary fighters.

Film Appearance – Fusion Reborn[edit | edit source]

Olibu makes a cameo in Fusion Reborn, appearing with Mijorin and Maraikoh as part of the Other World’s iconic warriors.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • According to the booklet included with Funimation's Dragon Box Five, Olibu's character design is essentially a combination of Recoome's body and Android 16's face.
  • Olibu may be inspired by Hercules, as King Kai suggested that many of Earth's heroic legends are based on him. His name also resembles "Olympus," the mountain in Greek mythology where the gods were said to reside.
  • He bears visual and thematic similarities to He-Man (Masters of the Universe), Conan the Barbarian, and Marvel Comics' Thor, all of whom align with the archetype of a Hercules-like hero.
  • Olibu's name is derived from "olive," a fruit and tree species culturally and historically significant to countries around the Mediterranean, particularly Greece.
  • Despite the omission of the Other World Saga in Dragon Ball Z Kai, Olibu, along with Pikkon and West Kai, makes an appearance during the Kid Buu Saga.
