Pikkon (known as Paikuhan in the original Japanese version) is a fighter from the Other World introduced in the filler episodes of Dragon Ball Z and later appearing in Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn. He does not appear in the original Dragon Ball manga.

Concept and Creation[edit | edit source]

Pikkon was created as a character with similarities to Piccolo. Concept art by Akira Toriyama and memos for the anime production staff indicated that Pikkon should use Piccolo as a reference for his facial expressions.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Pikkon is a tall, humanoid, muscular warrior with green skin. He stands a few inches taller than Goku and has distinctive features such as thick pink lips, big red irises with black pupils, and a pronounced hairless brow. His head is bald with black spots, and he has flat, square-shaped ears.

His attire includes:

  • A long, blue-sleeved shirt
  • White gi pants secured with a red sash
  • Brown boots with beige footing
  • For intensified training, he wears extra weighted clothing, including white robes with a brown belt featuring a golden circle, and a tall turban-like hat with a matching golden circle and a long white bandana.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Pikkon is a wise and strategic fighter, known for his ability to plan out attacks and offer advice even during battle. Initially, he is reserved, speaking little, but becomes more expressive during his fight with Goku. He exhibits heroic qualities similar to Goku's and fights for justice. Goku notes that Pikkon and Piccolo would "get along great." In Fusion Reborn, Pikkon shows jealousy when Goku battles Janemba instead of him and becomes impatient and frustrated when things do not go his way, such as when he struggles with the barrier around the Check-In Station.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

Pikkon was a skilled fighter who resided in an unknown location in the West Quadrant of the universe. After his death, which was marked by heroic deeds, he was allowed to travel to the planet of West Kai. There, he trained intensively and became West Kai's most distinguished student.

Dragon Ball Z[edit | edit source]

Majin Buu Saga[edit | edit source]

Pikkon first appears after Goku and King Kai arrive for a meeting with Grand Kai. During this meeting, it is revealed that West Kai and King Kai are on bad terms. After an argument, West Kai suggests a sparring match between Goku and Pikkon. Grand Kai intervenes, assigning them a mission to handle troublesome deceased villains in Hell, including Frieza, King Cold, Cell, Recoome, Burter, Jeice, and Guldo. Goku and Pikkon successfully deal with these threats: Goku defeats the Ginyu Force, while Pikkon easily defeats Frieza, King Cold, and Perfect Cell, imprisoning them in a spirit prison using a ball of spikes.

Following this, an Other World Tournament is organized to honor King Kai's death. Pikkon and Goku advance to the final round and engage in a fierce battle for the prize of a private lesson with the Grand Kai. Although Pikkon initially has the upper hand, Goku eventually discovers the weakness of Pikkon's Thunder Flash Attack and uses it to knock Pikkon out of the ring with his Instant Kamehameha. Both fighters are disqualified for touching the roof of the arena, but it is suggested that this ruling was due to their superior strength. Pikkon vows to train harder and defeat Goku one day, similar to Piccolo's past ambition.

Later, when Super Buu initiates a rampage on Earth, Krillin and Yamcha are sent to Grand Kai's Planet for special training. There, they encounter Pikkon and other deceased warriors. When Kid Buu arrives on Grand Kai's Planet during his quest for Goku and Vegeta, Pikkon taunts him, unaware of Buu's immense power and putting himself at risk. As Kid Buu prepares to destroy the planet with a Shocking Ball, Pikkon and the others are saved when Kid Buu teleports to the Sacred World of the Kai, where Goku and Vegeta's ki are sensed. Throughout the battle in the Sacred World of the Kais, Pikkon watches the intense final battle unfold alongside the other deceased warriors.

Fusion Reborn[edit | edit source]

In Fusion Reborn, Pikkon advances to the final match of the Other World Tournament after defeating Arqua. His bout with Goku is interrupted by the appearance of the demon Janemba, who has ensnared King Yemma and transformed much of the Other World into a field of crystal jellies.

Goku and Pikkon investigate and confront Janemba in his first form. While Goku distracts Janemba, Pikkon attempts to free King Yemma with his strongest energy blasts, but is unsuccessful. Pikkon’s frustration grows as King Yemma's complaints push him to insult the jelly trap, causing it to crack. Pikkon continues to use his anger to further damage the trap with his insults.

Realizing that defeating Janemba is the key to freeing King Yemma, Pikkon joins Goku and Vegeta in the battle against Janemba. He arrives as Goku and Vegeta attempt to fuse. Pikkon battles Janemba alone and manages to wound him by exploiting the fact that Janemba’s substance is similar to the jelly trap. Despite his efforts, Pikkon is quickly overpowered by Janemba, who strikes him with a brutal attack.

Pikkon’s battle against Janemba provides Goku and Vegeta with the crucial time needed to successfully fuse into Gogeta. Gogeta then destroys Janemba effortlessly and restores order to the Other World. Pikkon is last seen marveling at Gogeta's appearance before collapsing unconscious.

Super Dragon Ball Heroes:[edit | edit source]

Supreme Kai of Time Saga[edit | edit source]

Pikkon appears as one of the summoned heroes during the climactic battle against Dark King Demigra and his army. He intervenes to deliver a powerful punch to Fin, who was attacking Hit. After Demigra's defeat, Pikkon, along with the other summoned warriors, is returned to his own Space-Time. Later in the tournament, Pikkon fights against Piccolo.

Demon Invader Saga[edit | edit source]

In a particular Space-Time, Pikkon is absorbed by Majin Ozotto.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2[edit | edit source]

Parallel Quest 145: "Other World Challenger" from the Legendary Pack 1 DLC[edit | edit source]

Quest Overview[edit | edit source]

This quest creates an alternate timeline blending elements from Pikkon's Other World Saga with the Universe Survival Saga. In this timeline, Pikkon is resurrected by Whis, alongside Frieza, to participate in the Tournament of Power as a member of Team Universe 7. Pikkon is initially confused by the situation, as he was about to compete in the Other World Tournament before his resurrection. He is surprised to see Frieza in his Dragon Ball Super form, as opposed to the Frieza he fought in Hell. Despite this, Pikkon agrees to fight alongside Goku and the Time Patrol, although he is shocked when he learns from Goku that Universe 7 could be erased if they lose.

Quest Outcomes[edit | edit source]
  • Standard Finish: If Pikkon's health drops below 10%, he will withdraw to rest, allowing the Time Patrol to handle the remaining fighters. The quest concludes after Toppo (God of Destruction) and Jiren are defeated.
  • Legendary Finish: If Pikkon's health remains above 10%, he will continue fighting and help defeat Toppo and Jiren. Subsequently, Zeno and Future Zeno demand more combat, turning Pikkon into an adversary along with Golden Frieza and Base/SSGSS Kaioken Goku. The Time Patrol must then defeat Pikkon, Golden Frieza, and SSGSS Kaioken Goku to complete the quest.
