Appearance[edit | edit source]

Napapa closely resembles a sumo wrestler from Earth in Universe 7. He sports a highly enlarged mage hairstyle, characteristic of sumo wrestlers. Similar to Toppo, Napapa has exceptionally robust lower arms and fists compared to his upper arms and lower body. His pink skin, pig/boar-like nose, and pointed ears further enhance his resemblance to a pig.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Napapa frequently shouts sumo catchphrases like "Doskoi" and "Gottsuandesu" while fighting, in line with traditional sumo wrestlers. He is portrayed as a somewhat dirty fighter, evident when he used Kale as a punching bag for his teammate Methiop.

When Universe 10 is on the verge of erasure, Napapa, like the rest of his teammates, closes his eyes and peacefully accepts his fate.

Universe Survival Saga[edit | edit source]

During the Tournament of Power, Napapa from Universe 10 engaged in a confrontation with Basil from Universe 9. Napapa skillfully countered Basil's strikes using his powerful sumo-style arm techniques. When Basil attempted to overwhelm him with three Shining Blasters, Napapa resisted the blasts and managed to save himself by throwing them out of the ring just in time.

Later in the tournament, Frieza attacked and defeated Napapa but seemingly forgot to knock him off the stage. Napapa then teamed up with Methiop to torment Kale until she was knocked out, at which point Caulifla intervened to save her. In a subsequent battle, Napapa pushed Super Saiyan Caulifla to the edge of the ring. However, Caulifla countered with a move called Izori, causing the ground beneath Napapa to crumble, sending him into a fall. As he fell, Napapa said, "it was a pleasure," seemingly out of respect for Caulifla's power or the skill she used to defeat him.

After all of Napapa's teammates were eliminated, Universe 10 was erased by the Omni-Kings, with Napapa accepting his fate and closing his eyes. He was later revived, along with the rest of his universe, when Android 17 used the Super Dragon Balls to restore all the erased universes.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Napapa's name may be derived from the word Napalm.
  • His frequent use of the terms "Dosukoi" and "Gottsuandesu" is a direct reference to real-life sumo wrestlers, as these are traditional sumo expressions.
  • Napapa’s voice line "Sumomomo" could be a reference to either the word sumo or sumomo, meaning plum in Japanese.
  • The etymology of Dohyōdoru might refer to the Japanese phrase Dohyo Toru/Doru (土俵取る), which literally means "taking/occupying/winning the ring".
  • The way Dohyōdoru, Yokodūna, and Rikīshi are pronounced by the Grand Minister, with extended sounds, resembles how non-Japanese speakers or people unfamiliar with Japanese culture might pronounce these terms.
  • The titles Yokodūna and Rikīshi could also be a nod to Yokozuna and Rikishi, Samoan professional wrestlers employed by the WWE.
  • In the anime, Napapa is the only member of Team Universe 10 praised by the Zenos, specifically for his sumo-style fighting.
