Appearance[edit | edit source]

Sorbet is a diminutive blue-skinned alien with a prominent black nose, giving him a koala-like appearance. He wears a green-and-black variant of the Frieza Force Battle Armor, accented by a red cape. His headgear features an orange stripe down the center, and he uses a blue scouter. Sorbet’s slitted pupils resemble those of a reptile or feline. Notably, he is depicted with four fingers in Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ and related media but has five fingers in the Dragon Ball Super anime.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Sorbet is a shrewd and tactical leader with a strong sense of military strategy. He demonstrates intelligence and resourcefulness, contributing to the development of advanced technology such as the regeneration machine. He is aware of the Z Fighters' ability to sense energy, leading him to bring only Tagoma for their mission.

Loyal to Frieza, Sorbet remains deferential to his emperor, begging for mercy or stuttering in fear when he risks displeasing him. Despite his loyalty, Sorbet also shows a sense of honor and concern for his subordinates. He is visibly distressed by the Z Fighters' annihilation of Frieza's soldiers and reacts angrily when Shisami is killed by Tagoma, even though it weakened Gohan, their enemy.

Sorbet is pragmatic, willing to use underhanded tactics to achieve victory, as seen when he shoots Goku during a moment of vulnerability. This plan, devised by Frieza, was carried out with Sorbet’s cooperation to secure his master's triumph. However, Sorbet ensures that his actions do not needlessly endanger his subordinates, balancing cunning with a degree of care for his allies.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

Sorbet previously served as a staff officer in the Third Stellar Region of the Frieza Force. Following Frieza's death, he assumed command of the Frieza Army and began a relentless pursuit of those responsible for the emperor's defeat.

Dragon Ball Super[edit | edit source]

God of Destruction Beerus Saga[edit | edit source]

In the Dragon Ball Super manga, Sorbet is informed by Tagoma that the army's second strongest soldier has been defeated. Recognizing their dire situation, Sorbet proposes searching for the Dragon Balls to revive Frieza and restore their forces.

Golden Frieza Saga[edit | edit source]

While in space, Sorbet receives word that the elite troops on Planet Frieza 448 are being overwhelmed. He orders their retreat but soon faces another setback when Vados warps their ship away. During repairs, Sorbet learns that 60% of his soldiers have been wiped out. Realizing the army's only hope is to revive Frieza, Sorbet explains to a skeptical Tagoma that Frieza's fearsome reputation once kept the universe in line, making his return essential for their recovery.

Sorbet expresses confidence that Frieza's revival will allow them to reclaim 70% of the universe's planets and rebuild the army under his leadership. Unable to locate any remaining Namekians, Sorbet decides to travel to Earth with Tagoma to collect the Dragon Balls.

Sorbet later observes the climactic battle between Goku and Frieza. When Goku lets his guard down, Sorbet seizes the opportunity to fire a blast into Goku’s chest, severely injuring him. However, his actions lead to his demise; during a skirmish, a deflected Death Beam from Frieza strikes Sorbet in the heart, killing him.

Universe 6 Saga[edit | edit source]

In a manga extra from Warriors from Universe 6!, Sorbet is depicted residing in Hell alongside Shisami and Frieza. In a comedic moment in the original Japanese version, Sorbet breaks the fourth wall, lamenting that the manga skipped their story arc. In the English version, he merely expresses frustration at his fate in Hell.

Universe Survival Saga[edit | edit source]

In the manga, Sorbet is shown in a flashback when Whis explains Frieza's resurrection and subsequent attack on Earth to Old Kai.

Super Dragon Ball Heroes[edit | edit source]

Supreme Kai of Time Saga[edit | edit source]

An incarnation of Sorbet competes in the Super Space-Time Tournament alongside Mecha Frieza, Zarbon, Dodoria, Shisami, Cui, and Tagoma. However, their team fails to progress to the second round, resulting in Sorbet and his space-time being erased.

Film Appearances[edit | edit source]

Resurrection ‘F’[edit | edit source]

Sorbet, alongside Tagoma, serves as an elite soldier in the Frieza Force, previously holding the role of staff officer for the Third Stellar Region. Years after Frieza's death at the hands of Future Trunks in Age 764, Sorbet becomes determined to revive his master. Initially seeking the Namekians and their Dragon Balls, he has no success locating their planet and instead travels to Earth with Tagoma to collect the Dragon Balls there.

The two obtain the final Dragon Ball from the Pilaf Gang, successfully reviving Frieza. While they consider using the second wish to resurrect King Cold, Shu's wish for one million Zeni interrupts them. Sorbet contemplates killing the Pilaf Gang but is calmed by Tagoma. They then return to Sorbet's spaceship, where Frieza begins his regeneration. Sorbet shows a rare emotional side when Tagoma is killed by Frieza for voicing doubt about challenging the Saiyans, shouting Tagoma's name in grief. Sorbet later informs Frieza that Goku's power has surpassed Majin Buu's, which excites Frieza as he resolves to surpass Goku through training.

During the battle on Earth, Sorbet remains by Frieza’s side, observing the events from a safe distance. While Gohan easily defeats Shisami, the strongest soldier in the Frieza Force at the time, Sorbet shows unease at Gohan's power. As Frieza engages Goku in combat, Sorbet avoids confrontation, even hiding behind a rock during Frieza’s transformation into his final form.

When Golden Frieza struggles against Super Saiyan Blue Goku, Sorbet seizes the opportunity to shoot Goku in the chest with an energy ring, tipping the battle in Frieza's favor. However, when Vegeta intervenes and Frieza attempts to blast Goku, Vegeta deflects the attack, which fatally strikes Sorbet instead.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Sorbet's name is a pun on "sorbet," a type of frozen dessert, fitting the cold-related naming theme of Frieza's soldiers.
  • In the manga, Sorbet's scouter remains intact despite Frieza's overwhelming power level. However, in the movie, his scouter breaks from the strain, and he is shown without it during the events leading up to Tagoma's demise.
  • In the early storyboards for Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, Sorbet was initially named Chidoru and had a vastly different design. While the name Chidoru was ultimately dropped for Sorbet, it still appeared in the manga adaptation, where Chidoru is depicted as a separate soldier within Frieza's army.
  • Sorbet is also notable as one of the few characters in the Dragon Ball series to break the fourth wall, albeit only in the manga.
