Diabound

Diabound (ディアバウンド) was the ka of Thief King Bakura, born from the vengeful spirits of the slaughtered villagers of Kul Elna. It possessed the ability to absorb the powers of other ka it defeated, evolving in form and strength as its abilities grew.
Priest Seto initially failed to seal Diabound in a stone tablet, as it had originally been sealed beneath the chamber in Kul Elna. The exact circumstances of how it was later sealed remain unknown. However, if Diabound is destroyed, the tablet bearing its image is also destroyed.

Appearance
Diabound has a half-human, muscular body with three horns extending from the back of its head and a fourth protruding from the front at a different angle. It possesses a long, serpentine tail ending in a snake’s head, along with four feathered wings—two on its back and two near its waist.
Diabound's form evolves in response to Bakura’s growing hatred, the absorption of additional ka, or the presence of the Millennium Items, becoming increasingly demonic and beast-like. Over time, its originally gray skin darkens to a dull green with blue stripes and an underbelly. Its mouth widens, filling with jagged fangs, its fingers become encased in claw-like armor, its snake head develops a cobra-like hood, and a large eye emerges on its chest.
The stone tablet depicting Diabound features its snake-tail curled into an Ouroboros, an ancient symbol representing self-reflexivity and cyclicality. Often depicted as a serpent or dragon devouring its own tail, the Ouroboros signifies eternal return, constant self-reinvention, and primordial unity—concepts that align with Diabound’s defining traits. Its near-indestructibility and continuous evolution reflect this endless cycle of power and rebirth.
Personality
Diabound is a manifestation of the hatred and vengeance of Kul Elna's slaughtered victims, making it an embodiment of relentless fury and destruction. As Thief King Bakura's ka, it mirrors his ruthless and vengeful nature, showing no mercy to its enemies and growing stronger with each battle. It thrives on chaos, its power fueled by the darkness in Bakura’s heart, evolving into increasingly monstrous and formidable forms.
Despite its immense strength, Diabound is not a mindless beast. It is highly adaptable, capable of strategic attacks and exploiting weaknesses in its opponents. It often uses its phasing ability to evade attacks and strike from unexpected angles, demonstrating a cunning that reflects Bakura's own tactical mind.
Much like its master, Diabound is driven by an insatiable desire for retribution, making it an almost unstoppable force until the very end. Even in defeat, it continues to defy destruction, mirroring Bakura’s own refusal to yield in his pursuit of vengeance.
Biography
Creation
Diabound emerged from the collective fury of Kul Elna’s massacred villagers. How it was sealed in stone and how Bakura first encountered it remains a mystery.
Ancient Egypt
Diabound was first summoned when Bakura infiltrated Pharaoh Atem’s palace in an attempt to steal the Millennium Items. Its immense power shocked those present, and despite being identified as a holy spirit, Bakura attributed its strength to his unwavering resolve. Priest Seto attempted to seal it with his Millennium Rod, but Diabound shattered the containment with ease. In response, Seto summoned "Galestgoras" to challenge it, but Diabound’s special ability allowed it to destroy the stone tablet that had summoned Seto’s ka. Diabound then overwhelmed the ka of the other priests until Atem countered with "Obelisk the Tormenter." Outmatched, Bakura was forced to retreat, but Diabound survived.
Later, Bakura summoned Diabound once again when he lured Priest Mahad into Aknamkanon’s tomb for a Duel. Diabound had evolved into a stronger form, fueled by Bakura’s growing hatred, but Mahad’s "Illusion Magician" fought at full power within the tomb, resulting in an intense battle. Ultimately, Mahad fused his ba with Illusion Magician to create the "Dark Magician" in an attempt to destroy Diabound.
Bakura survived once more and later attacked the Shrine of Wedju, where he used Diabound—now further evolved by the power of the Millennium Ring—to prevent Aknadin from summoning his ka by destroying their stone tablets. As he fled, Pharaoh Atem pursued him with "Slifer the Sky Dragon." Although Slifer initially held the advantage, Bakura exploited the Pharaoh’s compassion by attacking civilians, forcing Slifer to take the hits while its movements were restricted. Diabound cloaked itself and nearly killed Atem, but the priests intervened. The battle ended when Aknadin, who had succumbed to darkness, stabbed Slifer’s stone tablet, paralyzing it and allowing Diabound to destroy the god. However, Illushu intercepted the attack, saving Slifer. Bakura then stole the Millennium Pendant from Atem and left him for dead by hurling him off a cliff.
Atem survived and pursued Bakura to Kul Elna to reclaim the Pendant. There, Bakura summoned Diabound in its most evolved form. The Pharaoh, protected by Mahad’s "Dark Magician," engaged in a fierce battle where Diabound was forced to shield the Millennium Stone, limiting its attacks. When Diabound phased into the walls, Atem had Mahad create openings in the ceiling to let in light, exposing the ka. As the battle continued, Bakura used the spirits of Kul Elna to shield Diabound, rendering it nearly invulnerable. The priests arrived to aid Atem, and Karim fused "Duos" and "Curse of Dragon" into "Duos Dragon," which—enhanced by Mahad’s magic—matched Diabound’s strength. However, it failed to penetrate the spirit shield. Seizing an opportunity, Bakura injured Karim and stole the Millennium Scale, separating Duos Dragon.
At that moment, the spirit of Pharaoh Aknamkanon appeared, dispersing the spirits of Kul Elna and weakening Diabound. Seizing the opportunity, Mahad unleashed a powerful spell, finally destroying Diabound. With its demise, Bakura succumbed to his wounds and died.
Millennium World
When Yami Yugi entered the Memory World to relive the events of his past, he once again confronted Bakura and Diabound. This time, Yugi Muto reunited with Yami Yugi, restoring his energy after Slifer’s destruction. This allowed the Pharaoh to summon "The Winged Dragon of Ra" in its Egyptian God Phoenix form, which incinerated Diabound. However, Yami Bakura, manipulating events from the RPG table, reversed time to undo Bakura and Diabound’s deaths.
During the final battle at Kul Elna, Diabound was again destroyed, but Yami Bakura resurrected both Bakura and his ka. They ultimately sacrificed themselves to summon Zorc Necrophades. When Zorc was finally vanquished, Diabound was permanently erased along with him.
