Frost (フロスト Furosuto) is a member of the Frieza Race and the emperor of Universe 6 (formerly, in the anime), serving as that universe’s counterpart to Frieza. In the anime, he becomes a wanted fugitive after being exposed as a space pirate. Known for his cunning and deception, Frost is a dirty fighter who manipulates situations to his advantage.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Frost’s first form strongly resembles Frieza’s, leading Goku and Vegeta to initially mistake him for their old nemesis. However, Frost exhibits distinct physical differences: his skin is blue, with a pale-blue torso and head. He lacks Frieza's full lips, arm wrinkles, and concentric arm markings. His ears are rounder and smoother, and he wears shoulder and hip guards rather than full armor (though these may be part of his body). His feet differ as well, resembling knee-high boots with black pants, which could also be extensions of his body. Additionally, Frost has modified his wrists with retractable needles.

In his true form, Frost’s sleek and unassuming appearance mirrors Frieza’s final form. His neck and face turn pale blue, matching his torso and head, but unlike Frieza, Frost retains the coloration of his arms and legs. His wrists become smooth, and his chest and head display a brighter, bolder blue.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Frost presents himself as a polite and respectful combatant, often exuding gentlemanly charm. However, this facade conceals a manipulative and self-serving nature. He claims to be a pacifist, preferring not to kill, yet he revels in testing opponents’ strength before resorting to his full power. Unlike Frieza, Frost admits when others might surpass him, displaying less arrogance but no less cunning.

While Frost admires Frieza’s power and even develops a fondness for him, he is visibly hurt when betrayed by his Universe 7 counterpart. His animosity toward Vegeta stems from being humiliated during the Tournament of Destroyers.

Manga[edit | edit source]

In the manga, Frost’s portrayal differs significantly. He is not identified as a space pirate or inherently evil. Piccolo even notes that he lacks malicious intent. Frost’s use of his wrist needles stems from a sense of threat rather than an inherent tendency toward cheating. He prefers fair hand-to-hand combat and considers the tournament a tiresome obligation. Despite his indifference to being labeled a cheater, Frost remains relatively honorable, albeit increasingly arrogant when faced with Vegeta.

By the Tournament of Power, Frost begins to emulate Frieza’s authoritarian tendencies. His alliance with Frieza reflects this shift, as does his treatment of weaker opponents like Oregano, whom he brutalizes.

Anime[edit | edit source]

The anime depicts Frost as a duplicitous hero, revered throughout Universe 6 for ending wars and saving lives. However, his benevolence is a calculated ruse. Frost orchestrates the very conflicts he resolves to gain public favor and acquire war-torn lands at low cost. Beneath his mask of altruism lies a ruthless and sadistic personality, seen in his delight at torturing opponents like Roshi.

Despite his deceit, Frost exhibits moments of honor. When coerced into joining Team Universe 6 by Hit, Frost accepts the challenge willingly, claiming a desire for redemption. Yet his alliance with Frieza reveals his manipulative tendencies remain intact. Throughout the Tournament of Power, Frost remains loyal to Universe 6, only to face erasure by the Zenos after Frieza's betrayal.

Frost’s hatred for Vegeta echoes Frieza’s disdain for Goku, rooted in his humiliation at the Saiyan prince's hands. This rivalry underscores his complex and multifaceted character.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Universe 6 Saga[edit | edit source]

Frost is recruited by Vados to join Team Universe 6 for the Tournament of Destroyers. Vados promises Frost that if he wins, Champa will support his efforts to achieve galactic peace. On the day of the tournament, Frost arrives alongside his teammates Hit, Cabba, Botamo, and Magetta. Before the event begins, Frost catches the attention of Goku and Vegeta, who mistake him for Frieza. Frost notices their reaction but chooses to ignore it. He later takes and passes the mandatory written exam within the ten-minute time limit.

Frost observes the opening match between Botamo and Universe 7's Goku, which ends with Botamo's defeat. As the next participant, Frost steps into the ring to face Goku. Before the match begins, they exchange handshakes and wish each other luck. Once the referee signals the start, Frost charges at Goku, engaging him in rapid exchanges of blows. Despite Frost's efforts, Goku gains the upper hand with a decisive uppercut and kick, sending Frost to the ground. Goku encourages Frost to reveal his true power, prompting Frost to transform into his Assault Form, seeking Goku's approval.

The battle resumes with Frost maintaining a close fight until Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan, shocking Frost. Feeling overwhelmed, Frost unveils his true final form but remains outclassed. Using a concealed poison needle, Frost lands a deceptive strike, incapacitating Goku and securing a victory by ring-out. Afterward, Frost congratulates Goku and raises his hand in acknowledgment.

Match Against Piccolo[edit | edit source]

In his next bout, Frost faces Piccolo. Initially, Frost launches a series of attacks, but Piccolo evades and prepares his Special Beam Cannon. Frost counters with multiple Chaos Beams, eventually injuring Piccolo’s leg. When Piccolo creates clones to distract Frost, the latter uses an explosive wave to eliminate them and continues his assault. Trapped by Piccolo’s extended arm and faced with the charging Special Beam Cannon, Frost resorts to his poison needle, weakening Piccolo and ending the match with an energy blast.

However, Jaco notices foul play and alerts the referee, who discovers Frost's hidden needle. In the anime, Frost openly reveals his duplicity and villainous nature, shocking everyone present. Vados confirms Frost's true character, comparing him to Frieza. Despite his deceit, Vegeta insists on fighting Frost himself, refusing to let the referee disqualify him.

Match Against Vegeta[edit | edit source]

In his match with Vegeta, Frost charges aggressively but is swiftly overpowered. Vegeta, transformed into a Super Saiyan, defeats Frost with a single blow, sending him out of the ring. In the manga, Frost attempts to fight Vegeta in hand-to-hand combat but is ultimately launched out of the ring by a powerful kiai.

Aftermath[edit | edit source]

In the anime, following his loss, Frost attempts to steal Champa's cube to escape with the team's promised riches. He is intercepted by Hit, who incapacitates him with a mysterious technique, preventing his escape. Frost is then returned to the tournament grounds and remains slouched and unconscious with his team.

Team Universe 6 ultimately loses the tournament after Hit intentionally forfeits his match with Monaka. Furious at their defeat, Champa threatens Frost and his teammates. However, Zeno's unexpected arrival interrupts his rage, sparing Frost. After the tournament, Frost is taken home by Vados and Champa.

Future Trunks Saga[edit | edit source]

In the anime, it is revealed that Frost has become a fugitive in Universe 6. Despite Cabba's testimony, he escaped imprisonment and is now on the run. Chi-Chi mistakenly mentions Frost, believing he hired Hit to target Goku.

Universe Survival Saga[edit | edit source]

In the anime, Frost first appears as a cloaked fugitive living in the back alleys of a rainy planet, hiding from authorities. Hit eventually tracks him down to recruit him for the Tournament of Power. Initially mistaking Hit's intentions as hostile, Frost defends himself using poison needles and his tail in a futile attempt to counter the assassin. Hit effortlessly evades Frost’s attacks and commends his survival skills, developed during his time on the run. Acknowledging Frost's potential, Hit informs him of Champa's wish for his participation in the tournament. Relieved to have another chance, Frost agrees and removes his poison needles after learning that cheating would lead to erasure.

At the tournament, Frost bonds with Frieza, acknowledging him as his senior, and forms an alliance. In the anime, Frost begins his participation with a Dirty Burst attack, while in the manga, he overpowers Oregano with his tail and targets the "weaker" Earthlings from Universe 7, as advised by Frieza.

Frost surprises Krillin with a tail attack, eliminating him, and narrowly escapes retaliation from Android 18. Later, he confronts Master Roshi, who initially holds his ground using the Evil Containment Wave but ultimately misses, allowing Frost to exploit his exhaustion. Frost then targets Vegeta, teaming up with Auta Magetta to fight him. Despite their combined efforts, Vegeta transforms into Super Saiyan Blue, forcing Frost to flee using a Ki Smoke Bomb.

Frost's alliance with Frieza leads to an elaborate ruse where Frieza seemingly betrays Gohan, earning Frost's trust. Frieza teaches Frost how to power up, only to blast him out of the arena, revealing that he never trusted him. Enraged, Frost attempts to attack Frieza from the spectator stands but is erased by Zeno for breaking the rules. Zeno warns Champa that any further violations will result in Universe 6's erasure.

In the manga, Frost partners with Frieza to eliminate Universe 7's bald fighters: Krillin, Tien, and Roshi. He successfully defeats Krillin and Tien but is intercepted by Goku before he can finish Roshi. Frost proceeds to eliminate multiple fighters from Universe 9, breaking their teamwork and forcing the remaining Trio of Danger to retreat. When Frost returns to Frieza for their "tag team," Frieza betrays him, choking and kicking him out of the arena. Unlike in the anime, Frost does not break the rules and silently observes from the stands after his elimination.

Frost is later revived along with his universe when Android 17 uses the Super Dragon Balls to restore all erased universes.

Dragon Ball Heroes[edit | edit source]

Supreme Kai of Time Saga[edit | edit source]

During the second round of the Super Space-Time Tournament, Frost is seen among the warriors on a stylized version of Planet Namek.

Frost possesses retractable poison-coated needles in various parts of his body, which he uses to incapacitate or kill opponents. While Frost claims these are natural features, a referee in the tournament identified them as modified. He removed these needles just over four hours before the Tournament of Power.

  • Right Needle ("Unfair Hand"):
    • Location: Right wrist.
    • Effect: Releases a poison that induces drowsiness, weakness, and immobility, providing a strategic advantage. Frost used this against Goku and Piccolo and later demonstrated the ability to shoot the needle at opponents.
  • Left Needle:
    • Location: Left wrist.
    • Effect: Contains a highly acidic poison intended to kill. Frost considers this his "best weapon," reserved for dire situations. He attempted to use it against Vegeta but was incapacitated before succeeding.
  • Tail Needle:
    • Added while Frost was on the run before the Tournament of Power.
  • Ankle Needle:
    • Mentioned by Hit as being located in Frost's heel.

He consumed three of these fruits during his battle with Frieza, presumably to enhance his power.

Intelligence: Frost is very cunning. He consistently outmaneuvers comparable opponents.

Weaknesses: Like Frieza, he has limited energy in his 100% final form, and will revert to normal when enough time passes.

Attacks and Techniques[edit | edit source]

  • Ki Smoke Bomb: Creates a ki sphere that generates a dust cloud upon impact, providing cover for escape. Used during the Tournament of Power against Android 18 and Vegeta.
  • Evil Containment Wave Reflection: After intercepting Master Roshi’s Evil Containment Wave, Frost redirected it using this technique.
  • Evil Containment Wave: After reflecting Roshi’s wave, Frost used it to seal Vegeta during the Tournament of Power.
  • Dragonthrow: In the manga, Frost uses this move to hurl Hyssop into Roselle, eliminating both from the Tournament of Power.
  • Chaos Wave: A technique Frost uses in Dragon Ball Heroes. Frost charges an energy sphere behind his back and swings it around forward to create a large, razor-sharp energy blade.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Like other members of the Frieza Race, Frost's name is derived from a term associated with coldness.
  • Frost's English dub voice actor, Greg Ayres, is the brother of Chris Ayres, who voices Frieza in the English dub.
  • In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Frost is unique among DLC playable characters for having two skillsets. These represent his dual nature: "Final Form 1" reflects his facade of nobility, while "Final Form 2" reveals his true malevolent personality. He has special dialogue with characters like Cabba, Goku, and Vegeta depending on the skillset used.
    • When Goku fights Final Form 1 Frost, he remarks on the idea of a "good Frieza," to which Frost responds humbly. Against Final Form 2 Frost, Goku accuses him of being a bad guy, which Frost gleefully confirms.
    • Vegeta is skeptical even of Final Form 1 Frost, stating that no Frieza could ever be "good," while Frost replies with a formal challenge. Against Final Form 2 Frost, Vegeta insults him, and Frost unapologetically admits his evil nature.
    • Cabba shows respect toward Final Form 1 Frost, with both fighters exchanging polite words. However, when facing Final Form 2 Frost, Cabba is furious at being deceived, while Frost dismissively blames Cabba for his naivety.
  • In the anime, Frost is the only participant in the Tournament of Power to be erased without his entire universe being erased simultaneously.
